100%. Every single congressional RINO needs to be primaried. Good and hard. Especially in the Senate. But it will be difficult. This group of 100 act more like an organized crime syndicate than civil servants. They have a code of omertà that will first and foremost protect each other.

I would opine they are better organized than the mobs and cartels. Also, better educated, thanks to our educational? superiority.

There are a lot of different types of education one can avail themselves of I believe. We have too many law students in the Senate and House. They all have staff who have law degrees and can review bills for legal sufficiency. Might be time for some farmers, firemen, and police officers to run, not to mention some stay at home moms with the hardest jobs in the world.

Exactly… think it was Bill Buckley who said something to the effect that he’d “rather be governed by the first 2,000 people in the phone directory than the entire Harvard University faculty”… the way the system was designed to run. Not these lifetime career political whores.

Collins in Maine, I have heard, maybe the only Republican that could win in that state. She is awful in so many ways-that screechy voice of hers is enough for me to consider almost anyone else.

Of bigger concern to me is the House. All the “cured ballots” in several Congressional races there have all gone to Democrats…imagine that. The longer they count the more Democrats win.

This has to be dealt with.

Charlie Kirk last week was going through the senators who were up for re-election and for some reason, he kept saying every time her name came up that Susan Collins was "off the table". I don't understand why and hope someone can enlighten me.

Since I live in TX, I've long said that Cornyn should be primaried and I'm delighted to support Paxton for his replacement.

Off the table because there is no Republican who can win in Maine now. There is no bench. Similar to NH. Small states with no bench.

Collins is as close to a Democrat as can be. From the NH side - no actual Republican could be elected there. Think Martha’s Vineyard without all the water. There’s a lot of empty there, with clusters of conservatives but a whole lot of crazy on the coast and in the cities. Janet Mills……

Pressler should franchise his GOTV system and start working on that vote curing business. Curing the voter registration lists should be a 24/7/365 endeavor.

So how does Maine get its cut of the Federal Pig Slop? Per capital Are they too rich to need any? I would think attacking Kennebunk family compound tax deduction loopholes or similar would get attention?

Never too rich to ask for more. The Bush family is beloved. And very much not conservative. Collins got a chair position this time so she’s in a position to be troublesome.

Vacationing in Maine we had a very conservative fishing guide—loves Trump, informed, very conservative. When I asked about Collins he said she was ok. He didn’t love her but said when it came down to it she ended up voting right most of the time. He didn’t seem interested in voting for anyone else. I found his take shocking, but was interested in how a conservative Mainer thought.

Agreed. But Collins and Murkowski wouldn’t matter so much and could be marginalized internally within the GOP Senate if the rest of the conflicted RINO leaning members were dealt with by a good primary challenger. C and M have been there long enough to start getting committee chairwoman seats. Deal with them that way by selecting others do to their voting records. I am all for primary-ing all those for all the reasons Don has noted here.

But, I don’t want to wait two years as too much damage can be done in between and we don’t have the time for that.

Something needs to be done like on January 20, ‘25, to put the fear of God into these smug, arrogant and entitled crooks.

Once Kash Patel gets in there, and Tulsi and Ratcliffe they need to uncover the dirt on these comprised excuses for Republicans. They are thieves and liars - and traitors to their party, maybe worse.

They need to shamed and disgraced and never heard from again.

Suzie, I hear you and agree on the urgency but your solution is sounding a whole lot like what has been going on this past four plus years. There is a line someplace that we shouldn’t cross. Well, alot of the bad RINO's have had basically zero scrutiny of their personal finances and other affiliations, so it would indeed be very helpful to put them under the microscope and identify exactly how they are compromised.

I don't think giving them some scrutiny makes us dirty like Democrats.

Yesterday’s comment drew lots of replies and remained the top comment all day. The most encouraging reply: ‘And now we have a congressman, Rep. "People don’t like FJB pardoning his son. How should presidential pardons be determined?"

When the pardon doesn't also remove legal liability of the President granting that pardon. The president must be completely removed from, and uninvolved with, the crime being pardoned. If not, it should not be allowed.

Expand full comment

I really think that the law must be that a President CANNOT pardon for "prospective" crimes--meaning crimes for which a person has not yet been indicted for-- only for crimes they have been indicted or convicted for. I would like the Supreme Court to rule on this point. Maybe someone knows what the Constitution specifically says about this.

Expand full comment

The official Grant of Pardon specifies that it applies to anything Hunter may have perpetrated "from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024", even if he has not yet been charged for it. So I don't see that anything can be done -- unless he returns to his wayward ways, which seems possible, and except for the fact that, if his Paw or Uncle Jim get charged for their involvement, he will be legally obligated to testify, since his self-incrimination defense no longer applies.

Expand full comment

IIRC, the Judge in Hunter's case was furious that Biden merely sent a tweet/press release re the pardon This should have been a formal letter.

Seems like Biden's staff is busy working on other issues that the Boss (ie FJB) would prefer.

Expand full comment

That's only what Biden's pardon stated, it isn't what the Constitution states. So Biden's statement is not authoritative.

Expand full comment

The Constitution is not very specific about this. Where do you see the contradiction?

Expand full comment

Seems to me that the original intent of the founders was to pardon for crimes indicted AND when the individual being pardoned has actually served some time/paid some fines.

Can't see that the Constitution contemplates prospective pardons.

Expand full comment

Good point but no ability to remove it. The founders never envisioned the pardon being used carte blanche like this.

"The pardon power of the president is based on Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution, which provides: The President ... shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of impeachment."

I agree with you for the most part, but for "except in cases of impeachment".

Hunter's pardon, was an attempt to negate legal action for racketeering with Joe Biden. That would have resulted in impeachment of Joe. Pardoning Hunter was a buffer to this action. I am not a constitutional lawyer, but the removal of Hunter's investigation of guilt certainly helped Joe avoid his own legal nightmare and likely impeachment (if the DOJ had pursued it years ago when the laptop was discovered).

A blanket pardon proves they were guilty of committing Offenses.

Biden is certainly pushing the envelope on this, but his assertion of sweeping pardon power may not end up standing.

Jim Justice will hate being a Senator so much that my money is on him serving one (or less) terms. Good morning, all.

Remember that fella named McCain?

The voters here in AZ returned that corksoaker to D.C. so many times it looked like he was in a revolving door. The blue-hairs in Sun City, or the machine - not sure which - kept Weathervane in office, year after year, no matter the betrayal or contempt he showed for us. Remember the savings and loan rinse and spin? I do!

I have shouted, year after year, "Don't listen to what these people say! Pay attention instead to what they do!" Seems like, up until recently anyway, it fell on deaf ears...

Dear me, I love that tweet/meme! The guy is such an ass...and I love him for it. One of the best ways to prevail in a conflict is to keep your enemies angry. DJT does that in spades, by the Gods!

After a rough start to my Monday - both my motorcycle and my CJ7 decided that they didn't want to wake up today - I am grinning again. Part of it is my ability to level my aggravations down to the simple inconveniences that they are; the other part is to reflect on the last scenes in a Monty Python movie: "Always look on the bright side of liiife.." and chuckle at my discomfiture. Thank you very much for doing this column, Don. There is such an avalanche of news, it is hard to keep straight the details about specific Senators, if you are not from their state. We MUST discriminate and remember that there ARE some good Republican Senators, and we cannot afford to "throw out any babies with the bathwater". I'm going to print out this column to keep handy as a crib sheet.

We really need to find out which states currently have the legal ability to Recall a bad Senator. That should be started immediately in any state that allows it and has a bad RINO.

Both polls were very difficult. My real pick for who to "Cheney" is Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia. Exactly like Wyoming, where the original "Cheney-ing" occurred, West Virginia is a heavy-duty Red State. It would be helpful to have Scott Pressler and Charlie Kirk come to WV in person to give an Early Blast of much-needed Publicity and do a little organizing to get the ball rolling, but they should not focus their efforts here--once alerted, WV residents should be able to carry the ball on their own.

It would be fantastic if Scott Pressler and Charlie Kirk could do a joint Early Blast Awareness Raising Tour of the states that have bad RINO Senators who need extreme pressure NOW and removal in 2026. Scott and Charlie can then focus their efforts where they think is appropriate, but it would really help RIGHT NOW to get in the face of bad-RINO Senators on their own turf and turn up the heat big-time.

South Carolina resident here. I would like nothing better in 2026 than to get rid of Lindsey Graham but he is too entrenched and has too much name recognition. Even my husband voted for him on that alone, much to my disappointment.

In 2020 Graham had three opponents in the primary and I researched all of them. I voted for and donated to Duke Buckner who is super MAGA in every way and happens to be a black man. He just ran against the odious Clyburn and lost as Clyburn is also too entrenched and too good at keeping the entitlements flowing to his homies.

I pray that the next two years will be so awesome that the people of SC will wake up and elect Buckner, if he chooses to run again.
