I love how some in the political/media complex are bemoaning the fact that Trump is picking people who are loyal to him instead of "independent" candidates for his cabinet. Apparently they either forgot (conveniently) or are not old enough to remember when JFK picked his brother to be his AG. There was no opposition to that selection among the chattering class. One might, however think that they would recall that Obama called his AG, Eric Holder his "wingman" without the slightest hint of irony. One might, but apparently one would be mistaken.

They made themselves irrelevant because they didnt think Trump would be back. They have spent nae on 10 yrs going after that man. They expected the American People to keep in their lanes and follow along like good sheep right into communism. Expecting that they, themselves would be above it all as the ruling class. They were wrong on all accounts.

The only way they can get back at Trump now is to set him up again. Well the swamp did that first time round, so he learned. He has lawyers this time, making sure he makes no procedural mistake on his Cabinet but he will be getting his cabinet. Also, putting people in place that have been wronged by those Agencies is brilliant. The incoming cabinet has motivation to get the swamp alphabet Agencies fixed.

The other thing that these Senators/swamp dont realize is that by NOT confirming his Cabinet, they are declaring themselves part of the swamp and people back home are watching. Or maybe they do since Senators are changing their minds. If they dont confirm Gaetz, then the Senators are accepting that an extortionist (who is in jail, and setup several others besides Gaetz to be taken down by child porn and minors), has more credibility than Trump's pick. Trump has backed them into a corner the Senators cant get out of easily, and I think not at all even if the 'hacked' report gets released.

The ABC program, the View, being forced by their army of lawyers to deliver that legal note regarding Gaetz, was in response to a shot over their bow which came from the Trump administration’s legal team.

They’re no longer going to just sit by and let the media, or anyone else for that matter, get away with their reckless slander and defamation any more.

The real heat is on, and watching that View-chic choke while having to deliver it was a glorious thing to behold.

Yup, if Gaetz does get confirmed there will be no greater indicator that the RINO is dead.

Expand full comment

I doubt Gaetz will make it. He will be the one DJT sacrifices to get others confirmed. Not Trumps fault, Gaetz burned his own bridges along the way and his conduct gives the risk adverse Senate an excuse to give him a rhumbs down. Gaetz did a great job but he rattled too many norms in the House and Senate Country Club.

Expand full comment

But--if the Senate doesn't confirm Gaetz, DeSantis MUST appoint him to the Senate, and then all those Senators are going to have to deal with Gaetz in their face, all day, every day, which would be GREAT. Either way it will be a win for us. I prefer Gaetz as AG, but if Trump can find another candidate who is pure aggressive FIRE, that would be OK too.

Exactly why the almost deafening silence over his pick of Rubio gives me great pause. When Washington and the media appear to approve, that’s a very bad sign indeed.

He would never have been my choice at all to head that den of iniquity known as our State Department.

It is, and has always been, a nest of some of the worst of the worst elements within the Federal Government for decades, no matter which party was in power, and responsible for untold levels of unAmerican, unConstitutional death and destruction the world over.

It needs to be throughly dismantled, root and branch, fumigated, and rebuilt from the ground up.

The last person I see doing anything remotely like that is “Little Marco”.

President Joe Biden addressed the nation after the election-his message was simple: “setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable,” and he concluded by saying, “may God protect our troops.” Unfortunately, many lunatics in his party have given up on fighting for America and have even given up on supporting our troops. This anti-American and anti-military sentiment in the Democratic party contributed to President Trump’s victory. Veterans are homeless. Illegals are in luxury hotels? Brit Hume’s thought about a mandate is kinda squishy: ‘The president would be wise to ignore the talk from his supporters about what an enormous mandate he has and what a great landslide he won, because thinking that can lead to trouble, However, following through with his promise of mass deportation would be an appropriate reading of Trump’s mandate, given how clear the president-elect was on his goal. Particularly on the deportation of illegal migrants, I think it’s fair to say he has authority to do that, and the voters understood that that’s one of the things he said he was going to do, and he never backed away from. If he moves ahead with that, I don’t think it’s an overreading of his authority, or his mandate.”

I'm seeing the trailer for the Angel movie release called Bonhoeffer on several sites I visit and am intrigued to know the bigger story of his life. On first glance, I am struck with the notion that the scenes depicted in the rise of Nazi power, and the opposition to it, are playing out in a slightly different (but parallel) form in this election of 2024.

Matt Gaetz is a soldier in the Bonhoeffer resistance, this time led by DJT. We are fighting an enemy just as evil and more deeply ingrown and difficult to overcome. We need independent, strong fighters like Gaetz and Hegseth..

Fascinating-a bit more cut&paste-Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German theologian, is a Christian hero for many. Executed by the Nazis just days before the end of WWII for his participation in a plot to assassinate Hitler, Bonhoeffer is hailed as a 20th-century martyr. But Bonhoeffer struggled with a moral dilemma – his religious views were in stark contrast to the evil he saw all around him. He chose to face possible imprisonment and execution and to remain faithful to the principles of his belief in God. Across the political and theological spectrum, Bonhoeffer is celebrated as an icon of true Christianity and his theological writings are classics throughout the Christian world.
