No one is safe from lefty loons
Fox reported, “Media mogul Steve Forbes said he was assaulted by angry protesters Wednesday night in New York City at a conservative book launch party.
“Forbes, the 75-year-old CEO of Forbes Media, was in attendance at an event for the launch of a new book written by conservative authors Bethany Mandel and Karol Markowicz. He said protesters disrupted the event by throwing drinks at him and toppling a book display.”
They were not protesters. They were attackers. Even when the media tries to appear to be moderate, it gives violent lefties a pass.
Forbes tried to laugh it off. He said, “I joked that a dark suit was an advantage in a situation like this.”
Mandel, a mother of 6, knows she does not have the luxury of taking the threat in stride. She said, “The fact that my newborn baby narrowly missed being assaulted at his mother’s book party speaks to how right I was to protect my children from the public.”
Her book with Markowicz is Stolen Youth: How Radicals Are Erasing Innocence and Indoctrinating a Generation. Their research obviously showed them the danger. One example came nearly five years ago from Peter Fonda.
The Washington Free Beacon reported on June 20, 2018, “Peter Fonda Calls for Surrounding ICE Agents' Homes, Their Children's Schools in Protest.
“Actor says Barron Trump should be ripped from mother’s arms, put in cage with pedophiles.”
Fonda died the next year, but his loony legacy lives on. Last summer, the left tried to intimidate justices by parading in front of the houses of the three Trump-appointed justices — in violation of state and federal laws that went unenforced.
His sister is still around spewing venom. On national television last week, she told millions of viewers of The View that we should murder those who oppose abortion.
Citizen Free Press reported, “Jane Fonda just went on The View and said Pro-Life politicians need to be ‘murdered’ because of their views on abortion.
“Joy Behar desperately tried to save face by saying that Fonda was ‘kidding’ but she clearly was not.”
The First Amendment does not protect threats, but the media does. Fox and the New York Post duly filed stories from their daily The View Said Something Bad beat. But the rest ignored the threat even as they prepared their next words-are-violence sermon for the Sunday papers.
Not everyone is taking the left threats in stride.
The Free Beacon also reported, “Fifth Circuit appellate judge Stuart Kyle Duncan, who was shouted down by Stanford Law School students as administrators looked on in silence, says the protesters behaved like ‘dogshit.’
“Now, in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon, Duncan is calling on the school to discipline the students who disrupted his talk and to fire the school’s associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion, who stepped in during the event to chastise him and deliver what the judge described as a ‘bizarre therapy session from hell.’
“Duncan’s remarks come after nearly a hundred students at Stanford Law School disrupted his remarks in brazen violation of Stanford University’s free speech policies.”
The university later apologized. The last thing an expensive law school wants is to piss off a federal judge because that could reduce the number of graduates who become federal law clerks. That would make the law school less marketable.
But Stanford fired no one and expelled — or even suspended — any students, so the apology was meaningless. As is the law school’s lofty status as elite.
Victor Davis Hanson reported, “One protestor blurted out that Justice Duncan probably could not have gotten into Stanford, as if their own puerile performance was proof of the school’s high standards of admission. That was as obnoxious in addition to the fact that, as of recently, it may have become not so true. In July 2022, Stanford Law School announced that an uncharacteristic 14% of its graduates had flunked the California bar exam on their first attempt, a radical increase from past years. Four other California law schools—UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Irvine, and USC—had a higher bar pass rate.”

Getting back to Steve Forbes, I like him but there is Trumpenfreude in his situation. On January 7, 2021, Forbes published, “A Truth Reckoning: Why We’re Holding Those Who Lied For Trump Accountable.”
While it carried Randall Lane’s byline, the headline made clear he spoke for Forbes.
Lane/Forbes said, “Don’t let the chronic liars cash in on their dishonesty. Press secretaries like Joe Lockhart, Ari Fleischer and Jay Carney, who left the White House with their reputations in various stages of intact, made millions taking their skills — and credibility — to corporate America. Trump’s liars don’t merit that same golden parachute. Let it be known to the business world: Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie. We’re going to scrutinize, double-check, investigate with the same skepticism we’d approach a Trump tweet. Want to ensure the world’s biggest business media brand approaches you as a potential funnel of disinformation? Then hire away.”
Forbes the magazine demanded companies blacklist Spicer, Sanders, Conway and other Trump spokesmen. Forbes the man defended publishing it. (“Unlike Twitter, media giants, and Big Tech companies, we believe in diversity of opinion.”) And now Forbes the man has to put up with loony lefties who want to cancel him.
Blacklisting Trump administration officials by Lane/Forbes unbelievably is mild compared to New Yorker’s call to not allow them eat.
On June 22, 2018, New Yorker reported, “The Absurdity of Trump Officials Eating at Mexican Restaurants During an Immigration Crisis.”
Crisis? By that reasoning Biden and his Mayorkas even look at a Taco Bell.
Helen Rosner wrote, “On Wednesday evening, Nielsen arrived at MXDC Cocina Mexicana, a restaurant in Washington, D.C., that promises ‘classic Mexican cuisine with a modern touch.’ It seemed almost unbelievable, on the day we heard a wrenching audio recording of migrant children crying out for their parents, that Nielsen, the chief enforcer of the Administration’s immigration policy, could be out in the world having dinner in a neighborhood restaurant like a normal person, let alone enjoying food from the very region the policy targets.
“As Nielsen and a dining companion sat in the restaurant for what a D.H.S. spokesperson later described as a ‘work dinner,’ she was recognized by a patron at a nearby table, who covertly snapped a photograph, and sent it to friends in the hopes of inspiring a protest.
“In short order, a cadre of demonstrators from the D.C. branch of the Democratic Socialists of America filed into the restaurant and stood between the tables adjacent to Nielsen’s. ‘How can you enjoy a Mexican dinner as you’re deporting and imprisoning tens of thousands of people who come here seeking asylum?’ one shouted, before leading the crowd in a rumbling chant of ‘Shame! Shame!’ ‘In a Mexican restaurant, of all places,’ another cried. ‘The fucking gall!’
‘In the blurry darkness of a video from inside the restaurant, posted to Facebook Live, Nielsen and her dining companion appear to be sharing an order of guacamole. The protest went on for more than twenty minutes, while Nielsen — shielded by two Secret Service agents — kept her head ducked low.”
As as it turned out, Nielsen sabotaged efforts to build the wall that these freaks opposed.
Always bear in mind Democrats banned black people from eating at Woolworth’s. This is no darned different.
New Yorker doubled down on June 25, 2018, in a report by Adam Gopnik.
He wrote, “Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, over the weekend, was asked to leave a farm-to-table restaurant in Virginia called the Red Hen. It was not some fiery mob that drove her out, by the way, like protesters did to Kirstjen Nielsen at a D.C. Mexican restaurant last week; Sanders was asked to leave by the restaurant’s owner. ‘I’m not a huge fan of confrontation,’ the Red Hen’s Stephanie Wilkinson said afterward. ‘I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. [But] this feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.’”
Ah yes, morals. It is immoral to disagree with liberals on policy or anything. That rationalizes kicking people out of restaurants and blacklisting them from jobs. The second-class citizenship of conservatives is just one stop in stripping all Americans of their rights.
Gopnik concluded, “And what about civility? Well, fundamental to, and governing the practice of, civility is the principle of reciprocity: your place at my table implies my place at yours. Conservatives and liberals, right-wingers and left-wingers, Jews and Muslims and Christians and Socialists and round- and flat-Earthers — all should have a place at any table and be welcome to sit where they like. On the other hand, someone who has decided to make it her public role to extend, with a blizzard of falsehoods, the words of a pathological liar, and to support, with pretended piety, the acts of a public person of unparalleled personal cruelty — well, that person has asked us in advance to exclude her from our common meal. You cannot spit in the plates and then demand your dinner. The best way to receive civility at night is to not assault it all day long. It’s the simple wisdom of the table.”
Shorter: Agree or perish.
Sanders is now governor of Arkansas. So much for the call by Lane/Forbes to blacklist her. When she returns to Washington, it will be as president. Forbes should keep that in mind.
He also may wish to talk to Lane again about that call to blacklist people.
