Leviticus 19:15-16   “You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor. You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD."

Exodus 20:16 Deuteronomy 5:17 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. The punishment for the crime of bearing false witness against your neighbor is that the false witness receives the punishment the innocent would have been given should the true facts not have been reveled. In other words, what is the punishment for 34 felonies? That isn't retribution but justice.

Expand full comment

I must differ, giving them the punishment for 34 felonies isn't justice when they have committed far more and far worse than anything they have falsely accused Trump of doing.

The punishment is for that specific crime. The other crimes are not included in this punishment.

Dr. Phil is dead wrong. The reason we got to the status of Banana Republic is that the hundreds of crimes that are perpetrated in DC on a daily basis go unpunished. How does the child who goes unpunished for his/her/its bad behavior grow up? Looks like first becomes a lawyer -- then graduates to politics.

Why did thousands of men storm the beaches of Normandy eighty years ago? Maybe a blessing most of them have passed, rather than see the rot that has plagued this once great nation.

You are absolutely right and we must be reminded of the Obama tactics that have destroyed our country. We are in a street fight with a community organizer. We must learn to fight to win the whole enchilada.

Regarding Hillary's obvious treason and illegal behavior, for all his goodness, Trump took his foot off the accelerator and decided it would be better for the nation to not prosecute her. He was wrong about that. If she had been fully prosecuted at the time (Benghazi, the emails and illegal server, Huma Abedin and Anthony Weiner, etc) how much of today's kabuki theater would NOT have happened? I would bet most of it wouldn't be happening.

That's all very true but we are all comparing our childhood(s) to those of children in later generations.

Today's children are being greatly harmed because they are being raised by starring at bright screens depicting a false universe as their childhood and their world.

We had to live in reality, with real people, real animals, bugs, frogs, twigs, leaves, trees, rain, sleet, snow, mud, dust, ponds, creeks, hills, rocks...you name it...we explored the world compared to the children over the last 2 generations...they don't exercise, don't eat real food or drink real milk...everything is created by the use of technology and chemicals.....even our seeds are genetically altered!

This is NOT a better world!

Technology and science has a great many downsides, which we are experiencing.

The damage that is done to at least 2 generations will never be undone. We all silently signed onto it when we closed our eyes and ears, blindly going along with it because it was progress and progress is good. Progressives always taut forward thinking, rather than Conservative thought of conserving or holding onto what is right and good and worked successfully for society, culture and our country for centuries.

We got snookered and we are all paying for it....

There is no other choice now; it all must end.

AD, I would respectfully disagree. Leo X probably was the worst hope because of his indulgences and his policy to allow Catholics to decrease their time in purgatory by paying down their sins to help finance the construction of the Vatican. Stephen VI was particularly bad because of the cadaver synod in which he exhumed his predecessor Pope Formosos, dressed him in Papal garb and then put him on trial.

I think one of the things that we forget is that in every generation, it seems like the world is going to hell. While things are bad now they have been far worse throughout the history of the world and in the modern day US. I am reminded often of the struggles of Abraham Lincoln. Right after he was elected, while traveling to Washington to be inaugurated there were three attempts on his life. The first was by the nights of the Golden Circle a Democratic pro slavery group. The same day he was almost almost stabbed by a Jesuit who was against Lincoln’s freedom of religion belief, wanting instead a Catholic America. Later, a bullet went through his coach and was found to have pierced his hat. There were so many attempts to assassinate and or kidnap him during his presidency. His predecessor, democrat, James Buchanan, did nothing to prevent the south from succeeding and left our country divided. The countries of France, Spain and Britain were powerful at those times and were at our doorsteps. We know now the end of the story, but at that time those living through it did not. We are a great country with wonderful people. evidence of that is just reading, Mr. Surber daily and learning from his equally brilliant commentators. We will be OK because individually we have God on our side. FJB

Gayle, organized religion has always been problematic. After the martyr of the first 33 popes and the formation of the Church, St. Ignatius of Antioch ( A.D. 69) was the first to have used the expression “Catholic Church.” But like most things that have been around for millennia, rot and corruption become endemic. The Dead Sea scrolls in Aramaic point to the equally divisions between the Jewish sects of the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes. Islam is also affected by fights between the Shia and Sunnis. The only constant is God. He loves us individually. Everyone else can fight about the organizational structure of that love.

Like liberals, many of the churches were seduced away from a spiritual mission, to instead focus on "the social gospel" and "social issues" and to get their sense of righteousness from involvement in certain political activity deemed to be morally right.

Therefore as Jesus said, they have become as "salt that has lost its saltness": "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is henceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men." Matthew Ch. 5, KJV.

But mankind is more hungry than ever now, even starving, for a close connection to God, for a sense of value and worth and identity and of being loved, for a moral grounding, for wholesomeness and goodness.

Atheistic, materialistic, collectivistic (denigrating an individual's worth), dictatorial, repressive, Communistic systems starve the human spirit. Russia was known as a country of alcoholics for a long time. We don't get much honest information about how life currently is for most people in Communist China, but surely they are hungering for goodness and meaning as well. There is a very big difference between revenge and retribution. Revenge is personal. It's driven by a desire to get even, to make someone else feel the pain they've caused you - say, like Nancy Pelosi with her panties in a twist (God, what an image that is) over Trump's humiliating her by canceling her junket at military expense and forcing her to bring her luggage back home in front of cameras.

https://youtu.be/jXEWl-a-4sw?si=p2hDqLa9N-wJTgX3

Retribution is a reckoning - a formal punishment, a rebalancing of the system, according to agreed-upon rules and laws; oh, say, like prosecuting a former vice-president who bragged on-camera about withholding funds to a foreign government until they fired a prosecutor investigating him and his son.

Yesterday Buck Sexton - on The Clay & Buck Show - stated that the Dems have been waging lawfare for the better part of 50yrs against Republicans, roughly since Watergate. Just for example, look how they went after former VA Gov Bob McDonald for (if memory serves) bribery charges; they tried to lock him - & his wife - up over 100% bogus allegations. There was also Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska who was maliciously prosecuted for the very same (& found guilty by Deep State Judge Emmett Sullivan - same bucket of sh** who prosecuted General Michael Flynn). The whole thing was later thrown out, the FBI having been found complicit to conspire & withhold info that could have resulted in an acquittal ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Stevens ). The FBI/CIA/IS are nothing more than the Gestapo @ this point.
