I have removed the "I Love CO2 and so Should You" and "Stop the Climate Hoax" bumper stickers from my 2005 diesel truck and replaced them with "DEI must DIE." (HT to Elon) I got a few raised eyebrows on my recent road trip to California, but nobody said anything. I guess I don't look that friendly....

Keep your head on a swivel just the same. I have an NRA theme license plate with my Army branch referenced on it. While traveling thru Illinois this summer a guy told me at a gas station that “the NRA sucks”. I replied “so do you apparently”. He started with the four letter words and called me a baby killer fan. Two guys in a truck next to me came over and told the guy “we are vets too. Backoff”. He left and we all had a laugh over the stupidity that is rampant today. Be careful my friend.

I sure don't want to spend my dotage in jail, but I'm not going to let some punk beat me senseless, either. I take some comfort from Tom Paine: "I prefer peace, but if trouble must come, let it be in my time that my children may know peace."

The time for diplomacy is over. The Dimocrats are in the late stages of removing the Civil War Reconciliation Monument from Arlington National Cemetery. If we let them destroy our history, we are done - and this is just one example. We have to meet them eye to eye, toe to toe. They are girly-men who only fight in mobs, and will nearly always melt with real confrontation.

There are fundamental skills every man should achieve competence in: common courtesy, cooking, hunting, fishing, historical knowledge, and self defense. With regard to the latter, if you can't or won't defend yourself and your loved ones, no one else will, either. Higher authority - police - are under no obligation to protect you and others won't get involved. I won't lift a finger to save someone who won't defend himself, and thereby subject myself to prosecution.

I also avoid the State of Illinois.

I believe many people fit that category. They might not know it, but they believe in and support the ten commandments and try to live an honorable life thru helping and serving people. Likewise Chuck. I may be in the minority here but I do not believe that being wealthy or ultra-wealthy is a bad thing. I'm not motivated by money I guess and I see nothing wrong with people having a good idea or working hard and being successful at it. What I object to is using that wealth to buy or to erase votes thru collusion or using it to suppress others free market rights. There are more wealthy people who try to do the right thing than there are the Mark Zuckerberg's or George Soros or Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos of the world. I don't care how much money someone has so long as they respect the country and others rights.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” -1st Amendment to the US Constitution

Musk’s efforts to uphold the right of free speech, which is not without its battles, proves the extraordinary wisdom and divine inspiration the Founders were gifted in enumerating these rights, that they are unshakeable and undeniable truths that can withstand the most withering attacks. But they can only withstand attack when Brave men and women are willing to fight for them, and not permit them to be trampled upon, or taken from them at the whim of deceitful and wicked government and their devices. This is the very battle we are engaged in at this most pivotal time in history. If we refuse or fail to fight for them, all is truly lost.

P.S. Today, that “petition against our government for redress of grievances” is a long one! Hopefully someone out there is compiling it as we speak. Where do I sign?

"It is always darkest before the dawn"

The past few years especially the Xiden years have been pretty dark. Communism is being openly promoted and DEI is a part of it. If you watch any TV you will see that "Jake from State Farm" became a black man over night. TV shows regardless the plot must have at least one gay couple. (Throw in a black tranny for extra points. )

Musk is winning. Trump is winning despite Colorado's Supreme Court ruling. (GOP leaders are saying the Republican Primary will decide the nominee not politically motivated judges. I know. What a concept right?) Here in Georgia the evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election is showing up. It seems that Fulton County (Atlanta) counted some 20,000 plus ballots twice. Trump only lost Georgia by 11,000. Shove that up your Fani Willis. Don't know for sure but one would think that might have some bearing on the Trump and other election challenger's cases. The Georgia Board of Elections was going to include that topic in the December meeting but for some reason it was scratched from the agenda at the last minute. (Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger could not be reached for comment.)

Is it dawning? Perhaps. The devil has a lot of agents working overtime to prevent that from happening.

Was delightfully distracted by the Christmas Carols comments, but want to say "Thank You" for this interesting column on Elon Musk. It pulled together info about him I wasn't clear on--such as those advertising boycotts, and the varied attacks on him. And the column was chockful of wise observations-- like how Musk is winning, but he, too, should be careful about spiking the ball; about how DEI "blocks qualified students who are harder to control and indoctrinate; and the observation that "Biden has nukes and is willing to use them for a price, but Oliver ranted for 30 minutes about Musk allowing conservatives to post their views online."

I absolutely love that Elon Musk has risen to prominence-- he now stands alongside Trump as national heroes who are taking down the Marxist/Progressive Left. Trump has been the figurehead alone for too long. Vivek Ramaswamy is also making a real contribution--especially last night with his marvelous pledge to stay out of the Colorado Republican primary if Trump is not allowed on the ballot--and Vivek's DEMAND that Haley, DeSantis, and Christie all join him in this boycott.

Trump, Musk, and Vivek all have celebrity, charisma and authenticity. I'm certain their example is inspiring more and more people to speak up as well. My gosh, things really are starting to turn around big-time--we are indeed starting to win!

DEI (Division, Enmity, and Intolerance) is a poisonous evil masquerading as "Good". Can't wait for it to go down.

It has occurred to me that the current Dem plan is to flush Joe and Kamala. The new nominee will run on a platform towards the middle, similar to Bill Clinton. The whole charade will be their attempt to elect a unifier that will please the center/independents. They now realize that they can't win with their current woke agenda as the center piece. The new theme will be "Can't we all just get along".

Of course there will be massive cheating and maybe on both sides this time. Bill ran on a middle of the road theme and then shifted left when he got in. Once the Trumpster is beat the second time the Dem gloves will come off.

"Unintended consequences in politics are in reality the real purpose of the policy."

Don, you make an important point here to illustrate the left's deception. To say the effects are unintended is granting them cover they don't deserve. I can't let them off the hook that easily. I would suggest the consequences are fully intentional just as other political policy actions are intended to destroy the family unit, the school systems, the church, all that holds our great society together. They are "preparing" tomorrow's applicant pool to be as ill-prepared and irrelevant as possible.

Almost all higher education is accepting students who do not have the skills to learn from university training so they remove entrance requirements, curve grades, provide very expensive tutoring services, and cover for the students' lack of abilities as graduates. They do it so save their revenue stream to keep their overpaid do-nothing administrative jobs.

It seems to me that nothing works anymore, especially customer-serving businesses. The failure is always quickly covered with excuses like COVID, staffing shortages, skill shortages, etc. What is improving in society other than the size of wasteful, overpaid government? We are spiraling down to serfdom.

I do give Musk credit for his stance against some of these policies but he hasn't restored everyone who was banned from Twitter so his full commitment to the first amendment is yet to be demonstrated.

Expand full comment

Who has he not yet restored and why do you think that is??

I know he just restored Alex Jones to much consternation of the left. And I believe he restored Trump. Who's left?

Dec 20, 2023·edited Dec 20, 2023

You are correct that Alex Jones was JUST restored and most that I knew of were also restored but it took much longer than he originally stated and many were restored very early. Why not restore everyone at one time?

In other words, I hold some skepticism about Musk. We'll see how he performs.

Musk doesn't run the company even though he is involved deeply in its operations. I suspect there are still a lot of the old Twitter holdovers there who are dragging their feet.

This. I like quirky Musk. I think his heart is in the right place, generally. But he’s a shrewd businessman. He didn’t get where he is being a do-gooder. And I don’t fault him that. But we’ll just say I’m not all in. All his businesses require lots of Government oversight. He’s got to be doing stuff to keep the balance. I’m rooting for him though. So far he’s made X a good place to go.

I have watched with great interest as Musk, the essentially non-political businessman entered political matters at the political center but continually moves to the political right. All the movement has been caused by those on the Left who fear his power. The Left fully understands that he did not pay $44 Billion for Twitter, He bought free speech for the masses. He continues to confound the Left by using X to deliver a must have audience to advertisers. That is the only reason they come back. *** Here is a man with real f. u. money who believes in what is right, backs his belief with actions and damns the consequences. You absolutely know he is terrorizing the Left as the attacks are coming fast and furious from every multiplying sources. The heavier the attacks, the further right he moves. He obviously likes a good fight because he stays over target where the flak is always heaviest.

Jim you're right here. He is shrewd and he knows he has made a lot of people rich and continues to do so.
