CNBC said, “Trump extends lead over DeSantis in new poll of possible GOP primary field.” As usual, the real story was otherwise. While the Quinnipiac poll showed a 14-point lead instead of 6 in its last poll, that is below the Real Clear Politics average of 15.9.
The 30-point leads Trump enjoyed last summer are largely gone. 2 of the 7 most recent polls are in the 30s, but one poll gives DeSantis his first lead — of 2 points.
Follow the pols not the polls to see how things are going. Trump is calling DeSantis names and now his supporters are suing the governor. Florida law forbids DeSantis from remaining governor if he seeks another office midterm.
Newsweek reported, “A group of Trump supporters is hoping to strip Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of his title and his ability to run for office again in Florida, according to a complaint filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics.”
It is pretty cheeky to believe an appointed board can strip a governor of office just months after he won re-election by 19 points. The will of the people be damned.
The media lusts for a battle between its two biggest enemies. Trump and DeSantis are despised because they are effective in stripping the establishment of its weapons against the people. Trump actually made America greater in his first three years. And DeSantis has beat the devil in his satanic plan to groom kindergartens into LGBT land.
From that citadel of seething anti-Trumpism New York magazine came, “Donald Trump’s Nasty Ron DeSantis Nicknames, Ranked.”
Topping the list was a nickname that not only has Trump not used but that was crafted by the New York Times, the paper that is overly Pulitzered and utterly untruthful. The next seven on the list are failures. Tiny D, Ron DeEstablishment, Shutdown Ron, Ron DisHonest, DeSoros, Ron DeSanctimonious and Ron DeSanctus are as lame as a legless llama, but give President Trump time. He will find one that sticks.
How about Ron D-Florida?
You’re welcome.
A reader said, “First, for those who are complaining about Trump’s rhetoric, let me assure them that if DeSantis is the Republican nominee he will be subjected to far worse from media and Democrats once Trump is gone. Far worse. (I also like DeSantis and will have no problem voting for him if nominated.)
“The point is spare me the phony outrage of Trumps language.
“Second, I have to give Trump some leeway. Yes, he does have that New York vicious streak about politics — but the way they went after his family and everything about him — and destroyed a lot of people in the process, I can understand him punching back hard at the slightest provocation.
“So again his critics — especially in the Republican Rino party — can pound salt. I’d like to see their denunciations when rhetoric was used against Trump was the type they complain about that he uses. I would like for those critics to pinpoint the language they used to denounce all the tactics used by government against people who were imprison due to trespassing on January 6 insurrection. Does not exist. Point being they are not the moral superiors they think they are.”
Well put.
For his part, DeSantis ignores the taunts and takes on the media. But the media perch think they are sharks and try to circle. He’s good, coaxing a headline for Newsweek that read, “Florida TV Cuts Feed as Ron DeSantis Shows Explicit Content in School Books.”
DeSantis won’t play the media’s game. USA Today is in a panic — and not just because it is shedding advertisers like a snake losing its skin.
The paper asked, “Trump's blistering attacks on Gov. Ron DeSantis continue. Will he ever hit back?”
How about no? Because DeSantis wants Trump voters.
The governor discombobulated Never Trumpers by pushing Trumpism without Trump. As President Trump says, they’re not after me, they are after you; I’m just in the way.
Now DeSantis is in their way, too.
National Review was shocked that he does not bow to Zelensky.
It wrote, “The Florida governor’s response to Tucker Carlson is clever politics, but too clever by half in delaying serious answers to real policy questions.”
NR lies like the devil, aka New York Times.
Carlson asked, “Is opposing Russia in Ukraine a vital American national strategic interest?”
DeSantis replied, “While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party — becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them. The Biden administration’s virtual blank check funding of this conflict for ‘as long as it takes,’ without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges.”
He also said, “The U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders. F-16s and long-range missiles should therefore be off the table. These moves would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable.”
And he said, “A policy of regime change in Russia (no doubt popular among the DC foreign policy interventionists) would greatly increase the stakes of the conflict, making the use of nuclear weapons more likely. Such a policy would neither stop the death and destruction of the war, nor produce a pro-American, Madisonian constitutionalist in the Kremlin. History indicates that Putin’s successor, in this hypothetical, would likely be even more ruthless. The costs to achieve such a dubious outcome could become astronomical.”
That’s not clever. That’s straightforward — and effective.
On Ukraine, Trump and DeSantis are where the American people will be on Election Day 2024 when the carnage we are funding hits home. The Atlantic sees that as a bad thing, posting a screed, “DeSantis Will Betray Ukraine for MAGA Votes.”
Biden betraying the USA for money from Red China is OK, but we cannot have any presidential candidate siding with people who want to Make America Great Again.
Nicholas “Not Jonah” Goldberg of the LA Times rolled out the media’s case against Governor DeSantis. The lies are boldfaced and asterisked.
Goldberg wrote, “Though DeSantis hasn’t announced his candidacy for 2024, he already has a campaign pitch: He’s the enemy of wokeness, a pugilistic truth-teller standing up to the latest hysterical cancel culture outrages of the left. Don’t say gay!* Ban critical race theory! Teach only the happy, uplifting parts of American history!*
“He swears by the usual right-wing verities: more guns, fewer immigrants, lower taxes. He wants to tighten restrictions on abortions and ease them on executions. He’s pandered to vaccine skeptics and claimed that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be in jail for lying to Congress. He’s hinted that the Jan. 6, 2021, assault at the Capitol might have been an FBI false flag operation. He’s made it harder to vote in Florida.*”
What about the loony left verities: fewer rights, more illegal aliens, higher inflation? They want to tighten restrictions on capital punishment and ease them on executions of babies.
Americans are tired of hearing about LGBT rights. Straights want their rights protected. Bullies in drag have invaded the sports of their daughters. Americans also tire of hearing about slavery. They want a wall and they want thugs imprisoned instead of conservative protesters.
We also watch in horror as inflation rises and billionaires like Mark Cuban pocket millions in government money illegally. The FDIC is only supposed to cover $250,000 per deposit — not $10 million.
We tire of the two-tiered justice system in which we do not prosecute the criminality of Hillary or Hunter but persecuted General Flynn is evil. Americans want justice for all and the rule of law back.
Chris Rock in his comedy special eviscerated Will Smith. One line was telling. Rock explained why he didn’t punch Smith back: “Because I got parents. Because I was raised right. And you know what they taught me? Don’t fight in front of white people.”
DeSantis or Trump, I do not care which one is nominated. Just don’t fight in front of media people.
Now for TODAY’S TOTALLY SCIENTIFIC POLL.
Don I really don’t care which of the subjects of your poll drowns just as long as the survivor is buried.
I am happy to say that I have avoided all the BS these polls espouse because I rid myself of my TV almost 12 years ago and haven't looked back. I do have and willingly pay for commercial free internet service so I don't shake my head very often because I don't hear that lying bitch Jean-Pierre towing the democratic party line.
I am going to vote for Mr. Trump again and support him in any way I can. After the John Fetterman issue here in PA, no one should ever believe anything any liberal says because they are pure evil and there is only one thing to do with that.
As far as the disgrace of males competing in women's sports, these are nothing but, for the most part, homosexual males who can't compete at their own and they hate to be wrong or to lose
Now THAT is true.
