One of the very best columns I've ever read from you. Don, you're on fire. Bravo Zulu.

Ronnie T.'s avatar

“Bush, Quayle, Pence, Cheney or Romney.” These names no longer hold any recognition or respect for the new party we see forming before our eyes. Republican…but not Republican. The Old Guard, the Boomers, the Millennials, the Gen X’ers, the disenfranchised. “Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!” It’s a new day, friends. Just as the Tea Party (RIP) was co-opted by the RINOs, we are co-opting the Republican Party and turning it into something…new. Change isn’t coming…change is here. And this old fart welcomes it.

Don Reed's avatar

Mittens: “I don't know that I can disrespect someone more than J.D. Vance.”

Is anyone else irritated that sports garbage ghetto slang --- "disrespect" --- is being parroted by ostensibly intelligent, well-educated people?

(Romney, that's the first and last time I'll say something nice about you, and it's sarcasm, you blockhead).

“Guess Who’s Not Coming to Milwaukee? Bush, Quayle, Pence, Cheney or Romney."

Scheduling conflicts. All busy as funeral directors elsewhere.

Playswithneedles's avatar

The question is - who would want them there?

Don Reed's avatar

127,000,000 people would pay any price to keep them out.

(The only living things on earth yesterday that wanted anything to do with Biden were germs.)

Pence especially is in a bad way. Apparently, he failed to find enough suckers to back his hapless presidential run (in a horse race, it would have been the horse falling down underneath the starting gate before the race even began) and has major bills to pay that he can't (good!). As far as I know, he's the only grifter since WWII with a phony political campaign --- designed to vacuum in money, don't spend it, lose and pocket the $$$ --- who has failed. Hay Zeus, even KAMALA figured out how to make a profit, and she didn't get a single delegate.

Adorable Deplorable's avatar

Hard to believe this guy ran. Best word to describe this sorry excuse for a man is -- pussy.

Don Reed's avatar

Charity begins at home. Seriously, it all starts when at first they get away with getting something for nothing, cutting corners and outright cheating. That continues until the inevitable day when it all collapses. Pence's story is that of the 1920s meeting the 1930s.

07/18/24: If so, only temporarily. Giuliani and his lieutenants cleaned up NYC. See what it is today?

CC's avatar

Romney’s been eating lemon 🍋 and 🥒 pickles. His drop has been precipitous- from upstanding businessman & politician to a whiny crybaby.

Don Reed's avatar

07/18/24: He'd make a great tee-time partner with Tiger Woods at the British Open this weekend.

NotFromTexas's avatar

I wouldn't trust him to accurately score my card on a par-3 hole-in-one...

Don Reed's avatar

He'd put HIS name on that card. But we foresaw this happening, which is why we scheduled the game on a Florida course renowned for its alligator population --- and a golf cart for Romney with only 2 percent juice remaining in the battery. "We'll be ten minutes late - start without us!" Romney: "Um... OK..."

James Wills's avatar

You beat me to it. "Disrespect" is a noun; there is no verb form in The King's English - or Mrs. Webb's. I remember her gentle rebuke when a classmate tried to use "analog" as a verb: "Very brave of you, but analog is an adjective." Ah, the Good Old Days Up The Holler ....

Don Reed's avatar

We're pissing into the wind with this one...

NotFromTexas's avatar

I have to believe that some of them can "read the room". Quayle may have been HW's running mate & veep, but I don't know he's at all loyal to the Republican Party of the Bushs.

Don Reed's avatar

07/18/24: All five of them in their capacities as funeral directors thought that perhaps McCain's family would be interested in a profitable second funeral aired on pay-per-view (The Coffin Channel, #593 in Armadillo, # minus-22 in Waco). The bidding for the body was quite mean-spirited.

Wim de Vriend's avatar

I believe the elder McCain was indisposed.

MBethamn's avatar

He’s busy filling out absentee ballots for Biden from Hell.

Maybe because he has assumed room temperature?

After that failed assassination attempt by the goofy kid on the roof and (if the sound science is correct) at least one other shooter, you can start seeing some similarities to the Kennedy Killing.

As Trumps Power continues to expand, the Deep State/3 Letter Agencies will now start using more flamboyant tactics to get at him and they clearly don’t care how many other Citizens they have to kill to make it happen. That increases the chance of really nasty stuff like explosives.

Remember this folks, along with all the other shots at our countries, our continent and ourselves we’ve had to take laying down for the last 4 years.

Keep your eyes peeled and if you see something say something, and keep saying it till something changes.

And bring back execution for Treason. Enough is enough already! We’ve seen enough Treason over the last 8 ears to last a lifetime, and NO ONE has been held accountable…that needs to change. And change smartly!

Cookie McCall's avatar

Remember the bystanders in that PA field who did SAY SOMETHING, but the police & ss DID NOTHING!

Chuck Goldman's avatar

We just can’t say nothing right! I’m also talking about things like piles of bricks being dropped off in the middle of the night in inappropriate locals like in the riots in Seattle and Minneapolis. Ya know stuff like that!

I just pray Trump gets God's "full David treatment," like when David was anointed king while Saul was still in office. It seems to bear a lot of resemblance to today's situation.

Ephesians 6:11-13 KJV - 1 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND.

The President was shot at 6:11. Within two minutes he has STANDING. There it is laid out for us to see in the Scriptures, God is protecting him and I believe He will keep him here until the job of saving our country is done.

Have faith, but stay frosty.

Greg's avatar

All fanfare aside. If we don’t give him a Congress that will work with him, we have nothing. Worse, if we lose Congress to the left, they will impeach him, impeach JD before they confirm a replacement VP and install Hakeem Jeffries as President.

This fight is about the down ballot now.

Subvet's avatar

It always is about down the ballot. All the way down to dog catcher and cemetary trustee.

NNTX's avatar

Yep that's why the Dems are rushing to push FJB off the ticket. Polling for down ballot candidates looked ok until recently; now they are truly panicked.

And yes, Mike Johnson is very ostentatiously sucking up. As DJT would say, "we'll see what happens"

Great post. Thanks so much. This country has been blessed with leaders at critical phases who have been able to lead us through travails and tribulations. Washington and the Founders started it and though we've had some criminals elevated to high office, we've had more that were high minded and willing to take the slings and arrows, and life-risking, to achieve esoteric goals of freedom and liberty. As you point out, the "D"s, which are now controlled by anarcho-communist/Islamist elements, will stop at nothing to defeat President Trump and MAGA, so we should expect Lady McBiden, as Naomi Wolf calls her, and the Unhumans who populate her party and most of our institutions, to try repeatedly to remove President Trump, and as many of us, possible. So, we should keep in mind Lord Protector Cromwell's order to his Roundheads: "Place your faith in God, but keep your powder dry".

I think Don may have hit on something huge with his American party name.

Rebranding AND renaming the Republican Party the AMERICAN Party is a pretty good idea.

Think about it.

Which party best represents and describes what average citizens of this country want and need? Which party has the policies that have the greatest chance in making this country something it isn’t now? And keep it that way down the road.

What would the Democrats come back with? The jackass party…. well they already own that. Maybe they could have the old Republican Party name and really confuse their supporters. The Democrats are now the Republicans?

A symbol of the new American Party would naturally be the fist of Trump high in the air after Saturday’s attempt on his life and America first always as its slogan.

RevMikeyMac's avatar

The MAGAmerican Party. There. Fixed it for you.

Assuming Jill digs in and refuses to allow Joe to step aside (I'd give odds), it will be delicious to watch the several heavy-hitter Dems who have been calling for this to suddenly feign enthusiasm for candidate Biden. One cannot simultaneously believe him unfit to run and be excited that he's running. Add to the mix the backroom attempts to boot Harris off the ticket, and the DNC convention should be a shit show for the ages. I haven't watched one in decades, but this is one I can't wait for.

Gary Blackman's avatar

You said, "simultaneously." Good point. How can Biden be even with Trump in those national polls, yet have Democarts foaming at the mouth to dump him. So, which is it?

Adorable Deplorable's avatar

Let's not under estimate RINO's help in getting that two-thirds vote. And James Carville is a pathetic excuse for a human being. His is a political consultant who looks at politics as (literally) a blood sport. Win or lose. Any sense of morality be damned.

Ronnie T.'s avatar

If you’re thinking 25th Amendment, then I would say “no”. That’s the easy way out for the Democrats. Let them have their internecine war between the Democrat elite and GirlBoss Jill. Let everyone see the ugliness of how they operate. I’m ready…I can take it.

Adelaide Burton's avatar

The Democratic Party is going to have to learn to code.

Playswithneedles's avatar

“…They represented the type of unity that seems increasingly out of reach for Democrats,…”

That’s what happens when you spend decades splitting up your party into dozens of special interest groups.

We've had a week of positive and reassuring emotion binding us to the cause started by PDJT more than eight years ago. Feeling the power and thankfulness of God's grace never gets old. It never wears off. Like disciples, it is time we get up and move to the next village with our message.

It is time to get back to work for the cause. In doing so, we must be cognizant that the deep state will try to stop Trump by an means necessary and that threat has intensified since Saturday. Chuck Schumar said it most succinctly, "Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." Today, that Intelligence Community is really pissed.

The number of oddities and actions by the administration screams it was an inside job from the deep state. We can't let Cheatle be a distraction because it was executed above her head. The only way to stop it for good is to elect DJT so he can dig them out of government to be thrown into the fire and burned.

Seems like a new day dawning to me. Of course, every day begins with a promise of something new and better (at least most of them) but often the promise is left unfulfilled as the day progresses and night falls again. Jesus told us something about this when He said, "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work". Let us pray that there is sufficient daylight available to get our work done and replace the cabal of traitors currently holding office as well as their minions in the administrative state. Meanwhile, I have a few random thoughts about recent events. First, it seems that every time a photo of Crooks is shown by the media, it is the one of him as the gangly, goofy looking, sympathy-provoking adolescent, not the twenty year old assassin. Why is that? Personally, my reaction when I first saw that photo was a kind of sad sympathy, despite knowing he was no longer that boy but had turned into something completely and viciously diffferent. So, as usual, the media presents a narrative designed to evoke the "proper" emotional response. Quite reminiscent of the "gentle giant," Michael Brown, always shown in media portrayals as the smiling, inoffensive young boy rather than the hulking menace he was at the time of the incident.

Some of them, like the execrable Joy Reid or the harridans of "The View" persist, but to not much avail, thank God. Second, before I lost all my firearms in the tragic boating accident, I was a rather good shot. I had a .25-06 Winchester that was capable of 1 MOA accuracy. That is, at 100 yards, I could keep my shots in about a 1 inch diameter group. But that is far better accuracy than a typical AR15 platform rifle, which generally group at 2-3 MOA. Also, my results were from a solid rest with a fine Leupold dialed up to 20X and no time pressure or wind to deal with. Not exactly the same circumstances facing Crooks. So I believe that his hitting Trump was more a question of luck than skill, but as the man said, "I'd rather be lucky than good." Thank God things turned out the way they did.

James Wills's avatar

You need to come shoot with me sometime. My favorite is my .243 Remington Model 600 groundhog gun; I call it "AT&T" because it will really Reach Out And Touch Someone, but my AR is quite accurate as well. A 400' shot at something the size of a man's head would be reasonable with open sights; a virtual gimme with any kind of scope. The President owes his life to a combination of serendipity and facing the worst marksman in North America. God moves in mysterious ways....

A little suppressive fire from the cops on-scene would have prevented this near-catastrophe; even if they couldn't hit the guy, just firing into the metal building would have alerted the Pantywaist Secret Service (PSSies) to do their jobs and take the President off stage.

Jake's avatar

Don’t assume he was the primary shooter. The chances are greater than zero that he was set up. If he hit someone fine, if he missed five times the grassy knoll guy would finish the job. The kid wasn’t coming out of this alive to tell tales

RevMikeyMac's avatar

Yep - wanna bet we NEVER see the ballistics report on the bullets and whether they match his particular AR15?

So many more questions that we won't get answers to, unless Trump can win and start really draining the swamp, while vacuuming up truth in the process to determine who needs to go to prison.

Suzie's avatar

Wonderful article! And yes, the sense of true “hope and change”, if you’ll pardon the expression, is palpable, even in places waaaay outside the convention floor.

America First is ascendant.

But, we must not let down our guard for the battle set before us is gargantuan!

Those smoky back rooms are barely breathable for the amount of plotting and planning taking place by those who see their days numbered. They will continue to stop at nothing, and the “cheat” is still massive threat.

Pray without ceasing!!! It most clearly and evidently is working! God bless and have mercy upon this country and us all.

Bush, Quayle, Pence, Cheney or Romney. I spent 5 minutes trying to decide who on that list disappointed me the most. Quayle was easy to eliminate as I wouldn’t be surprised to see his picture on a milk carton. Cheney was eliminated because how can you be disappointed in a former Halliburton director. Romney won out because he was worse than I even imagined.

Shrugged's avatar

For me, I was disappointed the most by George Bush.

The last big uniting of America (including uniting the GOP) was 9-11. Bush was a Texas Republican, a compassionate man, and a unifying leader for the country after the attack on 9-11. The follow-up war saw heroes like Pat Tillman enlist to fight by leaving a successful career in the NFL for the sake of "The Country".

Bush provided a glimmer of goodness for a brief time and I was loyal at the time.

No longer. I am angry at myself and embarrassed I was in lock-step with the deep state. I just couldn't see it as clearly because I didn't have a contrasting option with which to compare in Donald Trump. It was Bush or Gore.

Looking back, I am glad to see we have made progress against this deep state behemoth.

Adorable Deplorable's avatar

All true. But the end of the day the family is part of the Swamp. Father headed the CIA for goodness sake. And to me biggest issue with GWB is he wanted to be loved by everyone. And ended up getting stabbed in the back anyway.

Ronnie T.'s avatar

But he’s a much better painter than Hunter, by far.

Shrugged's avatar

Agree. Hindsight is always 20/20. I did an equally stupid thing and supported Romney in 2012, although anyone would have been better than Obama in that election. Obama did his worst damage in his second term.

Alice Ball's avatar

For sure. The Devil was a better vote than Obama in 2012. One of my chief pleasures these days is knowing how absolutely gobsmacked BO is by the turn of events. He’s responsible for much of our pain.

Subvet's avatar

That was the year the Democrats perfected the cheat.

NNTX's avatar

And worse, Obama and his minions learned how to create a steroid enhanced Deep State, using the Patriot Act sponsored by hapless Bush (pushed by Cheney).

These folks are evil and don't work for the short term. Hence the necessity for continued vigilance and unending fight against their schemes.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

And hence the need for a big shovel to get to the roots NNTX.

Cookie McCall's avatar

Bush remains a huge but finally silent disappointment and it's a toss-up which vote I'd most like to be able to take back, either Bush or Romney!

Richard White's avatar

It was said that Pence sought advice from Quayle before going to the confirmation session in Congress. I thought at the time "What? No disrespect to Danny-boy, but I thought he had gone fishing or something. Who even remembers him?

Suzie's avatar

Another notable occurrence that has happened since Saturday and this new outpouring of God’s Spirit upon the America First party, has been its tidal wave effect against the media.

Even they feel it and its power turning their attempts at vitriolic shouts into pathetic squeals. They are so obviously panicked and befuddled and visibly in confusion, even cowering in some instances.

They still have their powerful organs to attempt to continue to dissemble the truth, but it is so clear, powerful and obvious that even they know they sound like clanging bells and discordant notes.

Now that, my friends, is the power of God.

Keep praying! It’s working!! 🙏🙏🙏♥️
