Evil can be dealt with.

Stupidity can’t as anything one suggests to improve things it is just ignored.

When evil and stupidity merge we have the current government and deep state.

That where I think we are.

When "evil and stupidity merge" you get an angry white lady leading the cat herd with slogans of 'JOY!' These women haven't a clue, nor a care, for the severe and hellish consequences of their vote. The least important thing, and one that should be concerning EVERY SINGLE YOUNG WOMAN, is not her 'open for business' lady parts: IT IS THE IMAGE ABOVE! Those undocumented 'mostly peaceful' dudes will be coming for you, and you won't like it, and it won't be over fast. You will beg for the mountains to fall on you, WHEN ALL THE GOOD MEN ARE JAILED! Stupid bitches.

Life is hard. It's harder if you're stupid. I wonder about the last thoughts of the Israeli women who attended the peace rally that Hamas so ungentlemanly interrupted. We will never know because they were raped and then murdered. Life can bite you in the ass very hard sometimes.

I've told several women that they have a choice. When it happens here they WILL be raped, would they prefer to be dead or alive when it happens? Ladies, learn to handle a gun and when the time comes don't hesitate to use it.

Wish I could predict beyond inauguration day. All I know is in 2016 I believed Hillary would make me happy 0% of the time, and I thought with Trump it would be 50% of the time. I, probably like you, was happy 90% of the time.

We kinda sorta have an idea of who’s on the starting team (Grenell, Nunes, Patel, etc),so that’s gonna be great. Vance over Pence for backup QB is a definite plus. Knowing how quickly 4 yrs goes by, and knowing where playing nice with the bad actors leads to is another.

Cautiously optimistic.

I am hopeful. Trump is critical, but it's the team he's leading that is absolutely going to do some heavy lifting. Eyes are open. Trump had no idea what was coming in 2016, the nefarious deeds to come from the Dem machine, the constant lies and leaks, the demons in the Dem party with sharpened knives. Now they know. JDV, RFK, Vivek, Tulsi, Nunes, Grenell, Patel------they know the score & how to go after them. That is my daily prayer!

But there's always the lying MSM to deal with-----but I think Trump pretty much has their number with "Fake News." No more leaks, and id you find them, throw the bums to the street. I’m not sure. Was this article meant to be optimistic or doom and gloom?

It is a sad state of affairs that we have come to this. People on the right see America one way and people on the left a complete 180. I tend to see the doom and gloom as our rights are eroded bit by bit (the slow boil)and people on the left are happy to vote for feelings. What they are feeling is an image that was created almost instantaneously by the powers that be and the lovely MSM-immediately after being lied to about Biden being “sharp as a tack”.

I was never the brightest bulb in the pack but feel like I more than made up for it in common sense-which is what the left is lacking. Law and order? We have none unless you count the weaponization of our government against those who dare to question them.

The power of brainwashing. Wow.

Ah, Thomas Jefferson. What a mind! What a vision! And what a powerful way with the written word.

Let him join with a handful of men of similar intellect to write our Constitution, and we have a document that is the envy of the world. We were blessed by having him on our side.

Mr. Surber writes: "There is a distinct possibility that this deep state will collapse like a sinkhole — suddenly and deeply — taking this deep state with it." I want to believe this, but it's hard at times, especially when we watch AGs and courts move against everyday citizens -- as well as Trump -- with such ease and evil intention. Please keep telling us we will ultimately prevail. I need the reassurance.

Jefferson drafted the declaration of independence, but was not involved with the constitution. He was our ambassador to France at the time.

Expand full comment
Flier's avatar

Sloppily written: I should have said "Let him join his ideas with those of a band of men of similar intellect."

I knew he was in France. I think there was an amazing congruence of ideas among the men who drafted our Constitution, even though there was tremendous debate over details. The result is a document that still works -- if it is allowed to -- nearly two and a half centuries later. The French have had what, five constitutions in that time? And the Soviet constitution is vastly longer, incorporates many of the high-minded goals and a few others, but many of which were observed in the breach instead of honored. The Brits don't even have a constitution (why bother when you have a King?).

I'd say we did pretty well.

A couple of tired but true aphorisms:

You get the behavior you allow.

You only change when your situation or current behavior is too painful to allow it to continue.

The Deep State is diabolical and stupid at the same time. Nothing is accidental, but a lot of their schemes don’t work. Their biggest failure is that we are finally well into them after decades of subterfuge. Now they are desperate and cornered. Some of them don’t realize that, but some of them do. The orchestra is still playing on the unsinkable Deep State Titanic.

I don’t think these are courageous people. They may be cruel and have a lot of power, but they are cowards. This matters because ultimately if we stand up and fight back as a nation of free men and women like we are capable of doing, we will win. If we don’t, we will become slaves.

You don’t have to be covered in gang tattoos to be in a criminal gang. You can be a criminal with a law degree and an office in the White House, a banker on Wall Street, an FBI chief, or you can own a newspaper. As Don Henley said - a man with a briefcase can steal more money than any man with a gun. What matters is if the nation collectively has the will to right the ship, no matter what is required. We’re going to find out and sooner than later.

Courage.

Articles like this one give me some hope that voters will see what is at stake in the November election. More and more people seem to be "red-pilled" and understand the reality of what's going on. Then I talk to someone with TDS - a disease particularly virulent in young women, for some reason - and for a short time despair sets in.

Donald J. Trump opened the refrigerator door, and the cockroaches have been SEEN. This nation has a shot - just a shot - at throwing back the impending Iron Curtain that has already consumed all of Britain, all of Canada, much of Europe, and all of Australia. A Canadian friend said that the bastards MUST take down America because we are the world's last hope ...

... last hope, eh? Once again, freedom's last hope. Hell, maybe that's our job. And always will be.

There should be some sort of criterion to vote. Not everybody should be allowed to vote. The stupid should not be allowed to vote. But you can’t say that. So you put together something else like you have to own land (as was true in the distant past) OR you must have a real job at the very least. Or something else but SOMETHING.This would effectively lock out the stupid from voting. Male or female. And I would have no problem with that.

They have been resisting and trying to put down Trump for the last 8 years. If they succeed in blocking Trump this time, they will end up facing something worse than Trump. I don't know who that will be. But the harsher they get, the worse will be the consequences. And it will be their own fault for letting their power go to their heads.

Where is Sir Winston when we need him?

Winston Churchill is often quoted as saying (though never verified): “Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted.”

We should all hope - and work - to ensure that is true. Hopefully as Americans we all do the right thing before we’ve exhausted all other possibilities.

One thing Churchill did say, and we should take to heart: “…this is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

To all I say courage, fortitude, resilience and never give in, never, never, never.

I have to go with the impulses of a newsman when the curtain gets rolled back revealing what we have been looking at for decades but not seeing. One of your best, Don. What you describe was given a name by Professor Glenn Reynolds, aka, Instapundit. He called it a "preference cascade." Someone else used the metaphor of "the second person to dance." Trump got up to dance in 2016. He won election due to the overwhelming dislike for Hillary and the arrogance of media pawns. Once his Presidential agenda began revealing itself, ordinary citizens left their chairs to dance with him. *** Bullies always reveal their lack of actual power when confronted by courage. In like manner, the media apparatchiks are now starting to acknowledge their withering power. Why else would they not continue to push insane anti-Constitution memes? Why else would the media fail to report down ballot Democrats refusing to be seen with Biden, Harris and Watz? Why else would they abandon their bogus Trump stories within a day or two? These actions are a reflection of the bully Dems/Media partnership seeing how many dance partners Trump has attracted. Their acts are individual recognitions of the preference cascade and their loss of control. Every new dancer is a lost consumer of their horse manure. Like all go woke go broke corporations, the media is being forced to acknowledge what they refused to acknowledge before, i.e., most Americans still believe in American ideals. Best of all, those who support Trump now see him as a leader they can support with steadfast resolve. They know he is fighting for what they want, to make America's government the servant of The People as Jefferson envisioned.
