Hallelujah is one of the greatest songs of all time. One of those songs that when it airs and you are driving that you pull over into a parking lot; stop; and just close your eyes and listen; then hit replay. It calms the soul in this crumbling culture of ours. Merry Christmas--- there I said it!

Trivia: Trumpet players everywhere have had to pencil in that held high C about two thirds through the piece. Nobody knows who improvised it originally and it doesn't appear in the Schirmer orchestration which is the standard. But it has always been one of the "hooks" in the orchestral performance.

I wasn't completely sure if the "Hallelujah" listed in the poll referred to the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah? If that's what you're referring to, Amen! Superb piece of music.

Ah. If we were voting for a glorious piece of music, then, I would have voted for the Hallelujah Chorus. But in a sense it isn't really a 'carol', in that most of us ordinary folks can't sing it at home around the piano, or out caroling, or in church.

Watch blm, antifa, the trannies and everybody else lose their shit over everything, turn the country inside out and give the administration an excuse to call in the Military and cancel the election.

Chuck, I'm with you up until cancelling the election. I don't think America would stand for a Zelensky move like that. It will be mail-in or online voting. More of the same but for a different reason.

BTW: In Canada, you get a lot of snow for a lot longer to the point where I'd think you would want to sing "Let it be warm with sunshine" or some such carol. You probably have snow right now as the rest of us are taking odds in our places for a White Christmas.

I might agree with you, unless Trump, on his first day in office, starts closing and abolishing entire federal departments. For example, why do we need so many "intelligence" bureaus? Recent history shows them to be full of people with so little to do, they spend all their time subverting the President. And yes, the vast majority of federal bureaucrats are leftists, but they also want to keep their easy money, so some judicious firing, and the department abolition of the week, could put the fear of God, I mean Trump, in them.

There are other ways too, to rein in the Beast. Consider balancing hiring by political leanings ...

We've stood by and watched everything else happen... why do you think Americans will care if elections are canceled? Turnout, even when the table stakes are survival, is less than half of the eligible voters.

You raise a good point but I think they will care because cancelling an election is way more than choosing who will be president of the US. The problem with hypocrite Abbott is it's always too little, too late. In other words he's a photo op Republican. I'm waiting for a report on how the Texas National Guard troops he sent to the border are doing. Have they helped stem the tide or are they doing paperwork to facititate the invasion? Are they even still there? And this new law? It doesn't take effect until March. It's not intended to actually slow down the flow. It's intent is to get a federal judge to strike it down and crreate positive polical buzz for himself. My kingdom for an actual conservative governor of Texas!

That’s my impression of Abbott as well. I think that’s what the Texans call all hat and no cattle.

Meanwhile, the Colorado Republican Party has announced they will withdraw from the primary election and caucus instead if Trump is kept off the ballot. The ‘splody heads on MSM are melting down this morning 😂😂

Expand full comment

That makes me a little nervous--if the Colorado Republican Party structure is as RINO as many of the state party structures are, they could select Nikki Haley as the winner of their caucus. Having the comparatively small number of people who would vote in that caucus select the winner is just another way of disenfranchising the broader population of Republican voters in Colorado. Direct voting by the pubic in a real Primary is the way to go.

Expand full comment

Earlier this year the Colorado Republican Party elected Dave Williams as their chairman. Or, as the media calls him, “Far right MAGA election denier” Dave Williams. He laid the groundwork for moving to a caucus when the 14th amendment case was moving through the courts in case they ruled to bar Trump from the ballot. I hope SCOTUS smacks this nonsense down, but you never know.

Expand full comment

Thanks for this important information, MBethamn. If Dave Williams means the MAGA wing of the Republicans has the control of the Republican party apparatus in Colorado (instead of the RINO's), that is fantastic. One down, 49 to go.

Actually, I would be very interested to know, for each state in the U.S., what the current breakdown is--in the Republican party apparatus--between MAGA and RINO. (I know that MAGA already has the strong majority of Republican VOTERS in probably ALL the states, but I'm referring to control of the State and County Republican Executive Committees--the ones that are still mucking things up by voting for Ronna McDaniel as National Chair, and putting structured support behind all the RINO candidates instead of MAGA.)

There may be several states where the MAGA wing is now in control of the party appartus, and many others where it is getting close. If we had those numbers we would know exactly how close we are to MAGA overtaking the RINO/establishment and finally gaining operational control of the Republican Party. If we are close, it would be very heartening to know. If not, we would know exactly which states our efforts need to be focused on.

Expand full comment

It seems the Georgia Republican Party has MAGA people in the executive committee evidenced by the fact that Kemp is forming his own coalition to support him.

As an addendum the previous Chainman of the party is under indictment for questioning the 2020 results so there's that. I didn't attend this years convention but I understand from sources who did it was a doozey!

Expand full comment

Vicious that they would indict the previous Chairman for questioning the 2020 results. Do the Democrats not know that half the country KNOWS they cheated on the 2020 election, and that we realize that they actually know they did too, and that they know we know! We see exactly what they're doing. They have to keep pretending, because if they admit any of it-- it is all treason and 90% of the country will be outraged.

Anytime I encounter anyone who says that the 2020 election was real and Biden actually won, I ask them to tell me, specifically, 5 of the specific instances that we (Republicans) claim were fraud and tell me why they do they not think those instances are concerning? The truth is, they can't name 5, or even 1 or 2, because their news hasn't covered it, and they have NO idea why we feel there is overwhelming evidence of fraud. They're just repeating what they've been told by the Left media to believe.

But that would be outstanding IF the MAGA folks have indeed taken definitive control of the Georgia Republican Party apparatus, as that alone would have a HUGE impact on the 2024 election. But it sounds like their control may still be tenuous.

Expand full comment

I don't see how that could fly, since the Republican Party is a private organization, not a government body.

I wholeheartedly concur.

Loved every word of today's Surber post about liberal hypocrisy. It was practically searing to read, as it went through one after another flagrant example of liberal hypocrisy with pinpoint precision.

Don refers to the 'radiance of a thousand suns" of the disinfecting sunlight that Texas Governor Abbott has shed on sanctuary city Dems, by busing illegals to them. But Don's own columns, every day, shed a marvelous and invaluable sunshine on the destructive activities being perpetrated by the Left.

The old saw is that if it wasn’t for double standards, liberals would have no standards.

The Alinsky method is to accuse the opposition of what you’re already doing. The Democrats (Commies) do this all the time.

The people at the top do not believe what they sell their followers. And that goes for both sides. The reality is it’s us against our government. And that’s how third world countries operate. But that’s where we are. The shenanigans in Colorado just hammer that home. We all need useful simple heuristics to understand what’s going on. The power class is abusing this great country and its people. This is unacceptable.

I hope everybody can enjoy some well earned holiday joy and that the new year brings you and the nation good news. None of us can predict the future. Evil is not invincible. Have faith, especially when it’s difficult. Maintain your sense of humor and your Apache helicopters. Let’s turn this thing around.

I guess the Democrats never watched Star Wars. With the latest Colorado stunt they are creating Obi Wan Trump. The 32 Republican states could easily kick crooked demented Biden off their ballots and ensure a DJT win but that would take guts which the Republicans lost with Durham and every other investigation and hope. Obi Wan Trump is better than the real thing in that there is fear he will become: Dictator, Savior and Charles Bronson in one. The real DJT part 2 will be hampered by ego and a viscous press and incompetent RINOs. The only option for the Democrats at this point is the unthinkable one, and if they go there they create both a martyr more powerful than the imaginary Obi wan and open the gates to hell.
