re: The poll:

I almost selected the topless female news readers but then I remembered it was CNN we were talking about.

Jeremy R's avatar

Good news, Hell'en Thomas is dead. Bad news, liberal women all get that ugly. Why? All the hate bottled up inside them.

Jeremy R's avatar

And for those who don't remember her, she is the reason Barry referred to the white house reporters as the press corpse instead of the press corps.

Joseph Kaplan's avatar

Who’s Anderson cooper?

Don Reed's avatar

PR flack for The (ex-) Federal Airport Luggage Thief.

Subvet's avatar

that's what I was thinking too.

4DC's avatar

Topless,CNN, noooo!

It would scare small children.

Don Reed's avatar

Leave the White House out of this. They can fend for themselves.

Forbes's avatar

Ahh, I selected topless for the rest of you. I cut the cable cord many years ago.

Denton Salle's avatar

Hell, I didn't think of that. Mind-bleach stat!

Wayne's avatar

I love seeing the highlight column being added back to the rotation, even if it's only on the weekend.

Don Reed's avatar

'Tis better for all concerned.

Tmitsss's avatar

Mighty Mouse cartoons are objectively better than Anderson Cooper

BJ54's avatar

Too discrete. Fritz the Cat is better than Anderson Cooper. And Heavy Metal is better than Don Lemon. Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto are better than CNN. Any pre-Eisner Disney classic is better than all cable or MSM except Gutfeld.

Don Reed's avatar

Yes, but CNN toons can be 24/7 the roadrunner braining the coyote with an anvil. Run that on a loop and pocket the dough from the fired employees (no longer necessary). Brian Stelter comes for vacation relief for the coyote once every three months. White House press conferences can be done with the animated Mr. Burns (The Simpsons) matching The Big Guy's audio. SecTrans Buttplug will be played by Mr. Smithers.

There is SO much I'd like to comment on, but I will go with one quite close to my heart. As a child and early adult, I used to love to go to San Francisco. What it has become is so bad, I won't even fly through there,. If the stupidity behind reparations actually becomes a reality, only God could save my family who still lives in the area.

The reparations idea prove what can happen when there are NO term limits. The idea goes beyond stupid. It is true that almost no one would qualify for the program as it is currently written, but that wouldn't stop other politicians from "Clarifying" it down the road. I even published the following in the SF Chronicle and it stayed posted:

"When you work for nothing, you appreciate nothing. Does this mean that they will now stop stealing from Walmart? NO and they never will either."

This is a disaster of ridiculous proportions. Anyone in favor of this should be put in an insane asylum or recalled immediately. There should be a term limits law for ALL politicians at both the state and federal levels. If we did, no one would ever have heard of Joe Biden and think of how much better off as a country we would be.

26. What will Trumpenfreude hold for those who arrest and handcuff him this week? Think he will become like Obi Wan..

Don Reed's avatar

If they arrest him, it will be an unstoppable campaign issue for Trump to the good, galvanizing his supporters. Imagine a political opponent so inane, he thinks it's a good idea to turn Donald Trump into a Nelson Mandela.

Item 20

McCarthy would not be as “popular” as he seems to be now if the red wave had happened. He could have ignored the Republicans who forced the changes that were made and it would have been business as usual in the House.

Don Reed's avatar

I'm not buying McCarthy until the books are closed on his ENTIRE stint as SPH.

13 - they are just following my lead. I have been on record that I will not be speaking with the mainstream media when I am up for re-election as Alderman in 2025.

Item 21 has some interesting math in it. If $1.66B of income is unreported how are there Tens of Billions of uncollected taxes?

I remember in the 80s when fat-cat business lunches being written off as a business expense was suddenly an outrage. So the answer was to increase taxes on the waiters and waitresses.

Joseph Kaplan's avatar

It’s the multiplier effect. Just ask Maxine

8: I grew up with tv (I was born the same month my town’s tv station went on the air) and psa’s about the EBS (esp. during Saturday Morning Cartoons). Then in 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit. The EBS was the first thing that went down.

"Brigette Macron is a man." Why is this a problem? Men, women, we've been told it's all the same. Dude with a dinkie is just the same as girl with an innie if he chooses to be. Who are we to say? You can't get insulted anymore if you're a "woke" woman and you get called a man. That's just being a bigot.

As for the "owning" of Thompson, Democrats will say that was a long time ago and they shouldn't be held responsible. Of course, they also set up the rules that all white people are responsible for slavery even if your family never had a thing to do with slavery or your family arrived after slavery. You create the rule; you're subject to the rule I say.

"Fink"--If you don't believe in a higher power with a sense of humor, you just have to look at some people's names. They fit too perfectly.

You just ruined James Patterson for me. No, wait, that was when he published a book with Bill Clinton.

The situation with Hillary Ronen is even more hilarious than you suggest. She wanted to defund the police and then she turns around and gets angry because they're aren't enough cops in the Mission district of San Fran and "people are dying!" I tell you. (https://twitter.com/lwoodhouse/status/1636500014552981507).

I was unsure about Kevin McCarthy, but this is evidence of what happens when "leaders" are reminded that they "lead" by the grace of other people.

"A government that gave Zelensky $100 billion and bailed out $200 billion in deposits made by billionaires and millionaires at Silicon Valley Bank is going after tip jars." Well, that's why they're after the tip jars, silly. You didn't really think that the people making the money off Ukraine would pay anything. Soon they'll be going after Tooth Fairy earnings, as you say, and change we find in our couches and expecting a cut of all the birthday presents we exchange.

"Replace Mitch with Josh." Replace Mitch with anybody, really, except Lindsey Graham.

You and I are just going to have to disagree on Iraq. Plenty of people funnel money to the Palestinians (which is really more an excuse than a reason--the reason is the usual cha-ching). The payoff doesn't seem quite worth the cost in lives and treasure.

Item - 13 If conservatives cut off access to the mainstream media, I don't think their coverage will be affected greatly. The media will just make stuff up like they normally do anyway.

Item - 14 If Patterson doesn't out himself as a perv, he will certainly out himself as an idiot.

Denton Salle's avatar

It's really kinda horrifying how many ficition writers are pervs. I knew the SFWA had a prevert problem starting way back, but more and more are slithering out of the closet.

Don Reed's avatar

Submit your stuff to The New Yorker. They're brain dead. Check arrives. "Hey, they made it out to Louis Menard!" (Better than "Louis Manure.")

Denton Salle's avatar

Grandpa could cash it.

ruralbob's avatar

CNN's topless news reader would be Rachel Levine.

NotFromTexas's avatar

Ugh...

Don Reed's avatar

The unshaven Rachel Levine.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Don thank you for being a beam of light in these dreary times.#21 ,having worked in the service industry as a college student I have deep sympathy for them today and yes this government wants money from lemonade stands as well. You hilighted the hypocrisy to a tee.

Danimal28's avatar

Your writing always brings smiles.

"This won’t hurt talk radio. No conservative I know owns a Tesla." Very true.

Reparations... My own Minny produced one of the first regiments to fight in the Civil War(Minnesota 1st), I lost out on 'Soldier of the Year' because I didn't know this during the contest. Reparations should be paid to the families of the 2,500 that died. Or not, it was their duty.

Denton Salle's avatar

Having married a Chamberlain, I restarted reading on the Civil War after a hiatus (I was in the NSSA in high school). I remember reading about them. So much valor in that battle. We don't see the likes of those men today.

Don Surber's avatar

Wasn't Joshua Chamberlain Chamberlain the last Union vet to die of a war wound in 1914 -- 50 years after his deathbed promotion to general?

(I laughed writing that. The truth is often humorous)

Denton Salle's avatar

Yep. A tough man, called the Lion of the North. His orginial Medal of Honor was replaced when they changed the design and years later found in a book in a second hand shop, where it was used as a book mark. (so the story goes)

Don Reed's avatar

He died 50 years after his deathbed promotion?

Jeremy R's avatar

The first Minnesota was all but wiped out at Gettysburg and sustained high casualties in several other battles. They were not one of the first, they were the very first regiment of volunteers in the (un) Civil War. Governor Ramsey was in Washington when Ft Sumner was attacked.

Their lineage lives on in the 135th infantry regiment headquartered at Mankato Minnesota. Soon liberals will demand they be cancelled.

Don Reed's avatar

Not cancelled. Re-constituted as an Antifia platoon.

Danimal28's avatar

Thanks, I think their HQ was in Stillwater at that time.

Jeremy R's avatar

When were you in? I joined in 1979 at Pipestone. HQ was in Mankato at that time. Right now Stillwater hosts the 34th MP company and the 334th engineer Bn. I think they had the 136th, but not sure. There has been a lot of restructuring since Bush Sr raped the piece dividend and gutted the military.

Danimal28's avatar

1988-2002, active 88-92, then Guard. We did a drill in Stillwater and remember the 1st being prevalent there.

Jeremy R's avatar

Thank you for your service.

I went active in 1981 and got off active in 1987. I was in Kansas and we decided to stay. Was in the Guard here until 1992. Wife hated the military so I switched to the IRR.

Item #7 Gov Pitzker is very upset, cuts off his drinking money while family is avoiding COVID restrictions in Illinois. Last item, Bush and Chaney didn't finish the job and will end up in the ICC for their incompetence.
