Beginning in 1907 it was common practice to sterilize the mentally ill. Many states passed eugenics laws. These were eventually repealed and the practice ceased by 1981. Eventually many of the states where it was allowed paid reparations to the victims.

Transgenderism is a serious mental illness. At least the people sterilized from 1907 to 1981 could still enjoy sex, and many people like that are hypersexual, but the ones today are losing their ability to have sex as well as the ability to have kids.

I feel sorry for them as studies show nearly all of them will eventually realize they can't pretend to be the other sex.

Of course, there are exceptions to everything. I have a grand-niece with a chromosomal deletion defect who is now about nineteen, with the intellect of a one year-old. Unfortunately her libido and reproductive apparats are perfectly intact, and she has no inhibitions about "boys." If anyone needs to be sterilized, it is she; her mother can barely handle HER, let alone another generation further down. And I guarantee you that there is some old boy somewhere who won't let her intellect stand in the way.

Expand full comment

Yes my aunt was sterilized in the early’70’s while involuntarily committed for schizophrenia. My grandmother, a devout catholic, was devastated and sad for her at the time. I was only a child but knew that being subjected to her behavior was bad enough that I wouldn’t wish it on another child and thought it wasn’t such a bad thing. Nothing in the intervening 50 years has changed my mind about it.

exceptions make the rule.

Expand full comment

Channeling my inner pedant, the quote is that the exception PROVES the rule, but proves doesn't mean what most people think. A little Grokking for early afternoon entertainment:

grok: "The original meaning of "The exception proves the rule" is actually quite different from its most common usage. The phrase is derived from a Latin legal maxim, exceptio probat regulam in casibus non exceptis, which translates into English as "the exception confirms the rule in cases not excepted." It's a bit of a head-scratcher, isn't it?

"In simpler terms, the phrase means that when there's an exception to a rule, it confirms that the rule exists in the first place. For example, if a sign at a bakery states "Doughnuts available Sunday morning," this exception to the rule of "no doughnuts available" confirms that doughnuts are not available at the bakery at any other time.

"So, the next time someone says "the exception proves the rule," you can impress them with your knowledge of Latin legal maxims and explain that the phrase actually means the exception confirms the rule exists in the first place."

Latin is cool, but English rules the world.

I tend to be pretty practical about such things. Net/net, removing this girl's ovaries is best for everybody - including her - and not the least benefit would be curbing her tendency to roam about in her search for "lovers." Adults make decisions for children all the time, and clearly she cannot assume the decision-making authority for herself - ever. Just how it is....

And the sex confusion has absolutely no bearing on the problem. It just distracts from the root problem.

When a teen or tween says they don't feel like a male (or female), the fact is they have no clue what they are talking about. All they know is they don't feel like a child anymore. Kids from broken homes are at the greatest risk. This issue like too many others finds its roots in the destruction of the classic family model. Our society has been sinking like the Titanic ever since they made it great.

Expand full comment
founding

I agree, and would add my impression that there's insufficient recognition of the desperate craving for an "identity" among many teenagers, the reasons for which they are equally desperate to hide. It seems to explain of a lot of peculiar behavior at that age, which I suspect was not nearly such a problem in not so distant past ages when formal education was much shorter than today -- if they had any at all -- because from a very early age on their identity was firmly based in work AND family. I believe this explains today's abundance of aberrant conduct that scientifically can be classified as Weird Shit.

Too many are being convinced of their other sex nature from parents and media. Those influencers need to be in jail.

Also the term "accepted practice" (something like that) provides protection to the medical community.

I'm trying to understand why he would turn out the way he did. Both he and his wife are teachers. Both of their parents were teachers. He took a job in China and taught for a while but it didn't say if he was married at the time. His wife is a Minnesotan. That's why they moved to Mankato I'm guessing. The possibility is greater than zero that his wife has a big impact on his politics.
