Item 15 Sudafed. Ah yes, someone might think they are suffering from the common cold and seek over the counter treatment for temporary symptoms. What’s really needed is for them to run to a doctor for the latest vaccine and then no treatment at all. Yea, that’s the ticket!

oh yeah, the FDA was the one who put all the higher dosed sudafeds etc behind the pharma counter. I am not sure what tests they ran on the ones OTC that you can still grab like benydral but it works on my snotty nose. But the FDA says no. So now the FDA decides the ones we can just grab dont have enough active ingredient to work but the FDA is the one who changed the rules what 20 yrs ago? How bout they leave us alone.....

The problem with OW is she built a billion dollar empire on the fact she was a closet racist. She was brilliant at nuancing her message to make sure she never bit her audience. The GOPe are I think pinning their final hopes on Glenn Youngkin of VA to unseat Trump.

Still ain't gonna work, IF he even tries, which I'm not sure he will.

Expand full comment

It’ll come out as CEO of Carlyle Group he is richer than Romney. Tied in with DC because that’s where the stupid/lazy/greedy federal money and power is.

Expand full comment

Yes, I think the VA grassroots tried to bring that to light in the GOP nomination gov race but he had the overwhelming power to get the nomination. For VA it has worked very well, much as DeSantis has in FL. I’m far less comfortable with either at the national level, IF they can even win, which is questionable due to the lack of charisma.

Expand full comment

There is little doubt he has much bigger goals and plans to move up the political ladder. The only question is whether it will be 2024. He's being groomed, for sure.

Expand full comment

He's also a job hopper. No time in trade anywhere––including governor if he runs. Just began his term last year.

Expand full comment

He only gets one, I think.

Expand full comment

You’re correct. Virginia doesn’t allow consecutive terms. Youngkin has to sit the next one out but could run again later.

Expand full comment

Youngkin is way too smart for that but I believe he is on the list for VP mention.

Expand full comment

Hmm, interesting. While VA would be a good state to bring along for sure, I'm not sure how two white male billionaires would widen the net. Plus he has ZERO DC experience to know how to play the DC game. We don't want another swamp dweller for sure, but SOME insider knowledge is crucial.

Maybe KellyAnn Conway...🤣 🤔

Expand full comment

Whoa! KellyAnn? No frickin’ way!

Young kin would be a very viable choice, and who cares if he’s been “inside DC” - that’s plus in my book. He nailed the VA election because he saw the enemy and took him head on. We need a Warrior to pair with Trump to carry on the work in 2028, and Youngkin does tick many boxes in that regard.

Expand full comment

Not knowing DC was Trump's biggest hurdle in his first term - he had no idea how to work the system and who to trust and who not to trust. I believe he has learned a lot of that, but if he had someone, at the very least as his Chief of Staff, (which I think Conway might also be terrific at) he would avoid a lot of the pitfalls that happened his first go-around. I don't think Youngkin would work much better on a national platform than DeSantis has. And as a vp pick, he adds nothing to the ticket other than the geography of VA. I seriously doubt he'd have the right chemistry for Trump to tap him. I just saw another article that listed Ric Grennell as a possible vp pick which would be VERY interesting but I don't think the Christian base would accept his sexual orientation.

Expand full comment

You could be right. Wasn't advocating his pick, just saying he will likely be reviewed by the committee making recommendation to Trump. Trumps pick will likely be a surprise to most of us.

Expand full comment

Yep, probably a surprise. I've never guessed any presidential nominee's running mate pick from either party.

I wonder if Vegas has a line on that...🤔

I bet they do! 🤣

I just hope whoever Trump ends up picking that they are a REALLY STRONG political FIGHTER who will NEVER back down and NEVER knuckle under. And who has great political instincts to insure their win in '28!. The guy I love (but he's currently running already for NC gov) is Mark Robinson. That's a crucial state and he's black and he is 'genuine'. Maybe another good one would be Kari Lake, who hails from an even MORE crucial state. But like Trump has said, he likes a winner. (but then HE got cheated out of a win just the same as she did so...)

Expand full comment

It appears we see this very much the same. I am still a fan of DeSantis but he is perhaps the right candidate at the wrong time in 2024. I don't like the fact that he and Trump are at odds. DeSantis took on a very powerful machine in Disney who could have destroyed him and won because he did the right thing. Those of us in the GOP should not eat our own simply because we have to choose a 2024 pick. That seems to be a failing of the party. They are both good. If Trump were not running, I suspect DeSantis would have been the nominee. Let's hope the two can patch things up for the good of the party. This mess isn't going to be fixed in four years and we need to remember that fact. The left needs to have a hard message thrown in their faces with a Trump win but they will likely not learn a thing and keep right on attacking him, because that's what Marxists do. But you never know, maybe the sane one's still left in the Dem party will revolt and get rid of the radicals. It could happen!

Lake is a wannabe. She's running for everything at once: governor, vice president, now the senate.

Expand full comment

I don't view her that way. I think there was absolutely election fraud in the gov race and she rightfully would have won. That not being the case, she's weighing her other options. I don't see the problem with that. We need to get elected more conservatives who can speak as clearly and powerfully as she does.

30 - right or wrong, the long knives are coming out for Noem. Apparently, she’s been separated from her husband for a while.

Expand full comment

I wonder if the story is true at all. It seems very fishy to me, but even if it is, who cares? I would not have wanted to see her for Trump's running mate regardless. She shot down men competing in women's sports in her state, before she reversed. That's too swampy for my liking.

Story is true but a nothing-burger. Noem brought all this on herself. Her ambition and ego got the best of her like so many before her. She is a flip-flop conservative I guess and she is done as a serious WH candidate. She will likely be playing for an agency head spot in the next Trump administration.

I wonder if it simply means that candidates like her have poor political instincts. They *think* they know the winning path, but they fail to realize that they either go big or go home.

Expand full comment

Interesting question. I'm not sure. When I was younger, I worked with several state delegations on The Hill and I was surprised how little original thought went into anything they did. I told myself many times that the young staffers were so blind to reality and so focused on what their bosses wanted they would likely walk off a cliff blindly while trying to make them happy. Even members of Congress seemed to be operating on some sort of groupthink when it came to speaking and taking a position, even in private. Many times the members seemed almost oblivious to reality outside the beltway. It was very disturbing to me and I told myself that something happened to people who came to work on the Hill, and it wasn't good. People like Noem and others start out okay but then ego and ambition take over and "poof", there goes their careers in many cases. When everyone around you is telling you how great you are the last person who should believe it is "yourself". Let's hope that commonsense prevails this election cycle.

Millionaires? Sure there are 22 million individuals and families who are millionaires in hyper inflated worthless dollars. I probably became a millionaire when my house I bought for $130K 25 years ago sold for over 4 times that much. But its all fiat (fake) money. Gold was $350 in 1997 and was, $1,900 the day the house went under contract. That is 1900/350 = 5.4. Translated that is 540% inflation over 25 years. So 4x/5.4x = 74%. Looks like I lost a lot of money over 25 years. Doesn't obviate your point regarding the media induced panic over 500K vs 22MM. But the collapse of paper fiat money is coming. Doubtful. And gold has been essentially flat for a decade or more, with a little spike at the moment. It is a commodity, that has perceived value as any other commodity does. As long as the US economy is what it is, the dollar will be king as the most stable of productivity value holders.

Can we screw that up a bit from time to time? Sure - FJB's first week in office saw to that, and we are paying for that now. That and a decreasing labor force which will push wage inflation and thus overall inflation up for the next decade.
