Following word that Pelosi will not attend the Trump inauguration, two bartenders were fired.

--- Pelosi bugging out of the inaug upsets me. I wanted to see her lose her grip on her walker and fall down just as DJT says, "I do!"

--- "The punch line: [CNN's Acosta's] ratings are among the best on the network.

That’s like being the third-string quarterback on the Browns."

Better: "... the first-string Browns QB."

Deshaun Watson is perhaps The Worst Human Being in America. To get him, the Browns traded away their "2022 first and fourth round selections, their 2023 first and third round selections, and their 2024 first and fourth round selections."

Good grief, no wonder the Texans got into the playoffs!

The price? "The Browns owe Watson $46 million in each of the next two seasons, and he has a cap hit of $72.9 million in 2025 and 2026 -- both the second highest in the NFL." And he's been a SPECTACULAR failure.

--- New York Post headline: “...NY teachers’ unions ramped up school spending—to highest in nation at $36K per kid...”

There's no chance that they'll ever find out how much money their teacher's union and City Hall steal from them.

Only 4% of all New York City public school students could actually read the headline.

P.S. Bondi at age 59 is leading the poll.

Go poke Don Lemon in the ribs and remind him about his quote that "women of a certain age" are over the hill (BOOM! Fired from CNN).

Speaking of whom, that definition now includes him, doesn't it?

Gonna call bullshit on your last paragraph. It's More likely that only 4% of New Pork City public School TEACHERS could actually read the headline.

Oldie from 08/02/22:

Headline: "Brief Watson Ban Boosts Browns Betting Markets."

Watson being banned for six games "is considered a positive for the Browns."

In Brown's first season in Cleveland, he was banned for six games, and this BENEFITED the people betting on the Browns game --- the first game that he's been benched.

Hmmm , alcohol has a higher freezing point than water I believe.

Expand full comment

Lower. You can make applejack by freezing hard cider. The liquid that doesn't freeze is alcohol rich. That's probably illegal or taxable so I would like to state I read that somewhere.

Expand full comment

True. Back in my drinking days I used to keep vodka in the freezer - it never froze but became syrupy.

We are as one. A dozen drones, swooping in from above with petards on board is all it takes. And after all, the Deep State has already got its plausible deniability in place, hasn't it? Dozens of drones, flying over multiple states, including mine, and they "have no idea" where they're from. Right......

Great comment but Biden isn’t done yet. Am I the only one who still thinks he will pardon his brother and some of the Jan 6th committee members before Monday?

Expand full comment

As to these "pardons"-- since they don't specify the crime that is being pardoned, and these people have not been indicted or convicted, isn't Biden actually giving "immunity", not "pardon"?

And the Constitution does not give the President the power to grant immunity. I really believe these "pardons" should go before the Supreme Court. They are in no way actual "pardons".

Expand full comment

Yep. I think you're correct . This preemptive pardon business will not survive in court , it's unconstitutional .

It’s Saturday and two of my favorite things came in the email today…Don’s week in review of the news you may or may not have known and This Week in Pictures from Powerline Blog.

But this Saturday is extra special. It’s the last Saturday of the malaise known as the Biden Presidency. I can’t remember feeling so giddy about a new President coming to power as this one. And it has a very happy feel to it . This time Trump not only means business he is set to get to business before sundown on Monday.

We’re all in a better place today.

Pam Bondi is 60. She must have come into possession of a Ring of Power 30 years ago, maybe more. Either that or there's a portrait of her in her attic that doesn't look anything like the woman we saw at the confirmation hearings.

Expand full comment

All of these women are over 40 and all are beautiful. 60 isn't what it once was. 60 is the new 40. And interestingly, they all have long hair. It used to be that women stuck to short hair from 50 on. But it's totally different today. I and quite a few of my friends have all kept long hair too.

Aging itself isn't what it once was. So many people, women and men, are really just "coming into their own" at 60 and beginning to really flourish. Wisdom, confidence, savvy, and an increasing sense of purpose start to converge, and can turn "post-60", into a very productive period of life. The 70's are now the 50's. The 80's more like the 60's. Actually, just throw the whole set of stereotypes out the window and live freely and happily.

Another woman I admire is Kellyanne Conway. And Laura Ingraham. And of course, there's Lara and Ivanka Trump, and the gorgeous Melania.

Expand full comment

It’s all about taking care of your health and especially your skin. Leftist women can’t seem to manage that - they all look like they’re stuck in the 1960’s when the “natural” look was in fashion. (Or they dash off for the next round of plastic surgery which just makes them look like they had plastic surgery.)

Thank you for saying this. I didn't want to be labeled sexist but my goodness these women are beautiful. And look at the hags who are questioning them. You tell me Hillary Clinton, or Melania Trump. No need to answer it was a rhetorical question.

Expand full comment

As to Hillary, I think one's face has a way of ultimately showing one's character. Also, if a person is unhappy, (which tends to be our stereotype of a segment of liberal women) one would think that takes a toll on one's visage as well.

Thank you! Right on!! I was struggling to come with exactly that comment

Expand full comment

Unhappy inside may contribute to UGLY visages on liberal women imho.

Expand full comment

And one has to wonder about the sources of unhappiness. I suspect regret over having had an abortion is more of a psychological sorrow pressing on many liberal women's souls than is admitted. And other moral and lifestyle choices that ultimately led to regret. Plus, to the extent atheism was adopted, there's a loss of light and buoyancy.

God did I blow that one. I tell people my memory is so good that I remember things that never happened. Case in point.

Here's from Grok:

Lewis Grizzard, a beloved Southern humorist and columnist, died on March 20, 1994, at the age of 47. His death was the result of complications following his fourth open-heart surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Grizzard's health had been compromised by a congenital heart defect involving a bicuspid aortic valve, which necessitated multiple surgeries throughout his life.
