For Democrats, failure is the only option

The San Francisco Standard reported, “One of the largest supermarkets in Downtown San Francisco—the Whole Foods Market at Eighth and Market streets—intends to shut down at the close of business Monday just a little more than a year after the store opened, company officials told The Standard.”

High theft and hostile visitors did it. The company said, “We are closing our Trinity location only for the time being. If we feel we can ensure the safety of our team members in the store, we will evaluate a reopening of our Trinity location.”

But fear not. San Franciscans can still poop in the street, do drugs and loot stores — at least until the last one closes its doors.

WGN reported, “Walmart closing 4 locations in Chicago.”

The company said it loses tens of millions of dollars a year on its stores in Chicago and has since it entered that market 17 years ago. It will keep 4 Chicagoland stores open. Sam Walton may not roll in his grave over this but certainly he rolled his eyes. His company is run by nitwits now who keep stores open that lose money.

Zero Hedge saw a silver lining, tweeting, “The DNC can rent out one of the empty stores, and also offer discounts on politicians.”

Meanwhile, Wirepoints reported, “Chicago 2022 arrest rates collapse to just 5% — Wirepoints.”

Your chance of getting away with murder rose to 72% in Chicago last year as only 28% of its murders resulted in an arrest. Black Lives Matter is just a slogan as the overwhelming number of Chicago killings are by black people of black people.

Not to be outdone, the Epoch Times reported, “Truck Carrying Contaminated Soil from East Palestine Train Derailment Crashes.”

The story said, “A truck carrying 40,000 pounds of contaminated soil from the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment clean-up site crashed in Columbiana County on Monday.

“According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1 p.m. on state Route 165 near Waterford Road, just north of East Palestine. Troopers arrived at the scene for a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor with a trailer.”

We could not transport these toxins safely by rail, so Brainiac Buttigieg decided to truck them to Texas.

Oh. the decision likely was made by some deep-state bureaucrat whose chief accomplishment in life was passing a Civil Service test because Buttigieg was hired only to appease the Gay Mafia, and not because he knows anything about transportation. We would be better off without this department because every state has one. Redundant means being laid off in Britain. Here it means doubling the staff to accomplish half as much.

In January, the LA Times exclaimed, “L.A. County poised to declare state of emergency over homelessness crisis.”

The story began, “Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was the first to act, last month declaring the homelessness crisis a citywide state of emergency, one as calamitous as any earthquake or hurricane. Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson asked his staff to draft a similar declaration hours after he was sworn in.

“It’s now the county’s turn.”

It’s not that LA solved the problem. Indeed, the story said, “The most recent count found roughly 69,000 people experiencing homelessness in the county, roughly 60% of them in the city of Los Angeles, a total that has grown steadily over the last decade.”

Democrats just want to declare defeat and move on to the next failure. The war on homelessness will continue despite the defeat because failure pays. The story said, “Cheri Todoroff, executive director of the county’s Homeless Initiative, said the emergency declaration will allow contracts with homeless services providers to be finalized much faster, meaning quicker deployment of resources to people living outside. More than $500 million flows each year through the Homeless Initiative, which is coordinating the county’s homeless response.”

Even with Bidenflation, $500 million is a lot of money to spend with little — if any —oversight.

The story’s wording greatly amused me: “The Homeless Initiative is expected to report back to the board in two weeks on what could be cut to speed up the delivery of services to people living outside.”

They’ve gone from bums to homeless to people living outside. Eventually, we will get back to bums because that language is circular to liberals. Colored people became Negroes, which became African-Americans, which became people of color. Whites became whites and then became whites until they were called whites again.

Democrats want failure. Name the last success Democrats have had. The border? The economy? The Russo-Ukraine War? Had we not intervened in the latter, peace would have been achieved. Instead, the war drags on. Leaked Pentagon papers show, according to AP, “16,000-17,500 Russian casualties and up to 71,000 Ukrainian casualties.”

AP assured readers the numbers were in error because “General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said publicly last November that Russia has lost ‘well over’ 100,000 soldiers, and Ukraine had lost about that many also.”

All I know is 8 million Ukrainians (one-fifth the population) left the country in the war’s first year.

But what do Democrats care? The $100 billion we gave Ukraine is an opportunity for graft not seen since well, the last economic stimulus they passed. They called that trillion-dollar handout the Inflation Reduction Act. Inflation grew.

I am beginning to believe Democrats are incompetent, but more likely Democrats are very competent at destruction. Republicans are great at building infrastructure. They built the transcontinental railroad, levees along the Mississippi, the Hoover Dam (completed under FDR), interstate highways, reservoirs and the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Democrats destroy things including dams and reservoirs to “save” fish and interstate highways to fight racism from 60 years ago.

On Easter Sunday, the Oregonian published, “Editorial: Oregon is dealt a blow.”

The editorial bemoaned, “Census figures show that about 16,000 more people left Oregon than moved in from July 2021 to July 2022. It’s the first decline for Oregon since the 1980s when the nation was engulfed in a recession, as the Oregonian’s Jamie Goldberg reported. And the news is even worse for Portland, once the darling of national media. The census shows that Multnomah County lost more residents in the past two years nationwide than most every other county of its general size. While Seattle’s King County saw more people moving there in 2022 after a dip in 2021, Portlanders are continuing to leave.”

Oregon was dealt nothing. It is the dealer. It elected Democrats who legalized or de-criminalized (as if there were a difference) drugs, which attracted bums.

The editorial said, “the state saw one of the biggest increases in its homeless population in the country from 2020 to 2022.”

Productive and taxpaying citizens are leaving in favor of bums because that is Democrat policy. Every single Democrat jurisdiction adopts policies that attract the homeless. Democrats do so in the name of fighting homelessness. Democrats want people who rely on government because those are the easiest to control.

While the editorial board whined about the loss of good citizens, it applauds the Democrat efforts to facilitate replacing workers with bums.

Portland, Oregon, was a hotspot for the riots of 2020. The newspaper published “100 Days of Portland Protests — Top Photos.”

The newspaper captioned one picture, “Aaron ‘Jay’ Danielson was shot and killed in downtown Portland after more than 1,000 people gathered Saturday at the area’s largest rally for President Donald Trump amid the 2020 election season. Demonstrators converged outside of Clackamas Town Center before looping around downtown via the freeways.”

Not mentioned was Antifa gunman Michael Reinoehl shot and killed Danielson for attending a political rally. Police shot and killed Reinoehl after he fired on them.

Decent people are leaving Democrat enclaves because people want to be able to shop at a Whole Foods Market without putting their lives at risk.
