I want to know who recruited Routh

Expand full comment

As a famous author told us, "Once is happenstance; twice is coincidence; three times is enemy action." I would suggest that, in the matter at hand, the first time was enemy action. What we are witnessing now is a doubling down on the chosen strategy. In Butler it was a nerdy weirdo with a cheap AR clone and a red dot sight laying out in plain sight on top of a roof. In Florida we had a self-styled "Ukrainian freedom fighter" hidden in the bushes and an AK with a telescopic sight. I should imagine the next time--and mark my words, there will be a next time--the assassin will probably be a much more skilled operator equipped with something far more accurate and lethal. God help us and protect Trump because the people who are supposed to do that hate him and us as well.

I've hunted quite a bit and shot weapons all my life. A 300 yard shot with a scope is not easy even for an experienced non sniper shooter. What still bothers me is the story where an agent spotted a barrel sticking out of the bushes 300 to 500 yards away. That's three to five football fields. The agent is lying. The chances are greater than zero that the shooter was setup and the agents knew he was there. Their reaction was for show. Shooting a pistol at a small target 300 to 500 yards away is also for show. You'd be damn lucky to hit a house that far away with a pistol. So why did the SS do it?

Appreciate this info from someone who has expertise with firearms.

I have to say, these incidents all show incompetence--whether the incompetence is in the (supposedly) sincere effort to 'protect' Trump, or in the conspiracy to set up a stooge and facilitate them getting access to Trump, and then presenting a ridiculous narrative for what happened.

They are showing a level of incompetence that is astounding to normal people. But it is another piece of evidence that our opponents--the treasonous Marxist Left-- plain and simple, embody alot of stupidity. We still must be ultra alert and active against them, but we should not be paralyzed by fear, nor intimidated, nor overly impressed with our opponents.

The fact of their original stupidity is their decision in the first place to throw their allegiance to totalitarian Marxism, instead of to the amazing freedom that America has always embodied.

I think Secret Service incompetence is a feature, not a bug.

I vote for the second option in which you succinctly state…

“…these incidents all show incompetence……[a] conspiracy to set up a stooge and facilitate them getting access to Trump, and then presenting a ridiculous narrative for what happened.”

Their playbook wears thin. We won’t be fooled again……

I don't want to get into a ballistics/sniping/hunting debate, but I, too have had a lot of experience with both long and sidearms. First of all, from the blurry photo that was posted, I believe the weapon depicted was not an "AK," but rather a Russian sniper rifle, (SVD Dragunov variant) or possibly even a semi-auto version of their squad auto, an RPK. Both are commercially available. Although bearing a strong resemblance to the AK, they are ballistically superior. Both of them are quite capable of hitting a man-size target at 500 yards, including head shots. Parenthetically, I routinely hit an eight inch metal gong at 600 yards with my .25-06 hunting rifle at the range (although I would never take such a long shot at game due to ethical hunting restraints). I don't disagree with the possibility of a "set-up," as you suggest, but can not eliminate the other possibility, viz., that the assassin was acting unilaterally based on his obviously deranged mental state as evidence by his internet postings. After all, since the democrats and their slavish stenographers in the media have decided to call Trump "Hitler," and "a threat to our democracy" who "must be stopped at all costs" (their rhetoric, not mine) it is not difficult to imagine that there are others--perhaps many others, judging by the "X" and TikTok traffic--who take that as a green light to eliminate the "threat." As far as the pistol shots, it is not clear to me what distance was involved. It is certainly possible that the agent was a lot closer to the assassin than the assassin was to his intended target, sort of like an advance scout would be ahead of his squad. Perhaps you now more than I do, so again, no intent for argument. Just spitballin' as the expression goes.

I wonder if Melania and Barron Trump could file a lawsuit against specific Democrats who have been using rhetoric to encourage assassination attempts. There must be some legal grounds to do this.

Expand full comment

Even if later found to have no grounds, it is a type of lawfare WE can use that would draw attention to the vile and inflammatory rhetoric on the Left.

As a floger I can tell you an agent one hole ahead would be very close to the perp, why I questioned no injury from an {eagle eyed }shooter.

I doubt many agents fire their service weapons on mission. Range practice isn’t the same as offensive action and the guy hadn’t started shooting yet. A second’s hesitation means you miss maybe. And are hand guns all that accurate at that distance?

Unless those agents have the eyes of an Eagle they could never see a barrel that far away. How high above the target would you have to aim to hit a target that far away with a pistol? Those bullets drop a lot that far out.

Who says they wanted to hit him? I am not sure if the agent fire was from handguns or rifles. Accounts seem unclear. Frankly, Trump is making himself a target by playing golf in the open. When I was in the military we shot iron sites out to 300 meters regularly. Granted, not easy with an M16A1, but we did it. Marines shoot a 1000 meter course.

There are pistol competitions out to 600 meters. I'm guessing that zero SS participate in them.

Shooting accurately is a skill we all need to work on because it would suck to have Barbecue's buddies get too close.

My son and I regularly used to shoot 100 yards with pistols. Now I'm helping a friend to learn to shoot. He struggles at 25 yards.

Expand full comment

If the agents were returning fire with handguns, it's a laughable distance. If they had rifles, and knew how to use them, maybe. But to see just a rifle barrel sticking out of the trees or brush at 300 plus yards with the naked eye is a stretch even for someone with very good vision. Looks to me like Trump is still getting the "B" team assigned to him.

The same people who recruited Crooks. I want to know how an assassin was in position at precisely the time President Trump was on the course. I used to live in Palm Springs FL very near to Trump International, although it hadn’t been developed at the time. It is between very busy highways and Palm Beach International Airport. The Palm Beach Sheriff’s headquarters are right next door. There’s no way a random guy just showed up there and got onto the course. Many of the fairways run right next to the highway in public view - why is he still playing there after the last attempt on his life?

It’s so in your face at this point. They know we know who they are and they’re rubbing it in.

A fair supposition.

I do think times are a bit different. Remember, Nov 2020 was an op, but no one understood it at the time until lots of time passed and more information came out. This time, the MAGA crowd assumes everything is an op, assumes the left is really trying to assassinate Trump, and assumes their federal government is the enemy.

They have no idea what they are causing by their actions. It's out of control now.

You know, Cookie, I wonder about that term "deep state" more and more. On the surface it appears that there is a very institutional bias problem with the federal government but I sometimes wonder if that may be by design rather than in actuality. Depending on who you talk to, there are roughly 1.5M federal employees and who knows how many federal contractors. But the way the government is structured, it would only take a small fraction of that number of people in well placed positions to create the appearance of a deep state and control the larger number and their actions. The CIA is experienced at it and trains at it daily. Might be time we really look at who is running our far too large and cumbersome government and who is really behind this subversion. I suspect it is a very small select number of people in positions of control thru out the government that are doing this. And I would bet it is an equal number of people involved outside the government as well. What we think we see is not always correct. When the government at the federal level is so large there is no way to efficiently control it.

That’s actually how I’ve always understood the term.

THAT is the $64,000 question. It was not in his public calendar so only a handful of people, amongst them his security detail would have know about it. That already stinks to high heaven.

Perhaps also they were expected to have “taken out” the assassin, a’la Matthew Crook, not let him flee, but failed in that also.

I’d expect an “Epstein event” in Mr. Routh’s not too distant future.

And we CAN awaken them. I think the reason they are avoiding us recently is they have no answer for what's happening or any argument we would make. Their cognitive dissonance is at a peak. If commenter Tanto doesn't mind, I am copying a line from his comment today: "There are so many alarms going off at once that you have to be comatose not to hear them. "

We should continue to push--I believe many Dems have had enough and are at a breaking point. Let's keep engaging with them and providing them with a bridge across to the sane side. This is how we can contribute to this being resolved peacefully, instead of by a violent civil war.

But if you do not approach them with kindness, you are going to be useless in this effort. This is not a time to preen over the fact that "You were right and they were wrong." Put our country ahead of your emotions. Try to realize they are people, and they have made a bad mistake by limiting their information-intake to the Left media. But I do sense fear underlying the hate-- fear that the Left is stronger than us and will triumph. So (and I'm just musing here), you won't be able to get rid of the hate til you get rid of the fear.

So how does one get rid of the fear? Again, just musing, but perhaps truly dissecting the fear. What are the premises the fear is presenting? (That those people are inherently evil intentioned and capable of harming us?) Examine the premises-- is everyone on the Democratic Left inherently evil? An accurate answer is No. Some are; but most are are ignorant and misled. They lack spiritual self-value, so they are trying to feel valuable / superior by and have been seduced by the Left to believe that being Leftist is being intelligent and morally righteous. Etc. That's just an example of starting to dissect the fear.

And at the same time, perhaps you are undervaluing your own strength. You ARE stronger than them--you have had the courage to face our country's situation and stay abreast of the news as the sordid picture comes clearly into focus. You have love of country and have shown service to it (you were a delegate to the Republican convention!) And so on. You have been strengths and virtues that they have not themselves developed. Perhaps you should feel pity more than fear.

Am just musing here; but don't undervalue yourself. YOU CAN connect with and help to red-pill even just ONE person on the Left (the math...if each of us does just ONE).

In the immortal words of Yoda (insert smiley face icon): “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” — Yoda

You are helping to keep everyone calm, TPG.

TPG, bless your heart, I agree with you in my hearty but believe the reality is we are way past that point. The Dems are a fractured party like the GOP in some ways and the people running the Dems are hard core card carrying communist wanna-be's. Old school Dems are the silent people voting for the party and keeping out of the spot light. They are not running anything today.

Expand full comment

But Reddog--we have no choice--we HAVE to stay engaged with Democrats and wake up as many as we can. BECAUSE--even if this leads to Civil War, at some point it will end, and even if we win, we will be in the SAME position--the country can't go forward on reliable ground til a good chunk of Democrats wake up and reject everything to do with Marxism, DEI, etc, etc. What are you going to do? Just shoot all the Democrats? (Although that is probably what the Left plans to do with the Right if they win.)

And if we do this work sooner than later (like NOW), the increase in votes for Trump will help make it "too big to rig" and some degree of civil war will be averted.

It’s hard to imagine having a pleasant casual dinner out with them now. They couldn’t stop whinging about Obamacare when they fired us as friends, but what would they be like now?

I have all the real friends I need. I don't need friends who are anti-constitutional or crazy.

Are they no longer your friends, or are they no longer Democrats?

Ever notice how the old school Democrats no longer talk politics these days? It's because their party is gone, replaced by communists.

"Reuters said, “Fact Check: No evidence of Haitian immigrants stealing and eating pets in Ohio.”

Right. There is no evidence of election fraud in 2020 either because the courts refused to hear it. Democrats are magicians with the truth. They make it disappear.

The lies and fraud are happening right before our eyes as Comrade Come-allah laughs all the way on her journey to the Whitehouse.

Read on CFP earlier this morning that the shooter's son has said that although both he and his father hated Trump, he didn't think his father even owned a gun and he was unaware he had even more than a couple of traffic tickets - gee whiz, I read last night that dear old dad had a very lengthy rap sheet!

Expand full comment

Yes. One of his prior criminal offenses was owning a machine gun. Also read he was on probation, but somehow moves freely to FL and Ukraine (and also DC I believe, hmmm) from Hawaii.

Expand full comment

A machine gun??!!

My understanding (from my hubby) is that one must pass a very in depth background check to be able to own one of those legally.

And interesting that Routh's long record did not trigger more scrutiny about his movements. Heck they are following Tulsi Gabbard around.

The FBI was well aware of him. Guess that means he was an asset.

And pay a tax. But pretty durned hard to get one legally without a purpose. And clean clean slate.

You have to get a Federal license for any machine gun. That is why he got arrested.

Don... you were clearly pissed off when you wrote today's column and that is good. The "cut and paste" routine is out in full force today as I will send your excellent column off to many people. Almost all of them will not comment. Deportation is key to returning this country to proper law and order... of course along with a controlled border or borders. Canada is porous too but not anywhere near the extent of the southern border. Keep doing the good work and watch your six as they say. Trump is doing that. I hope he stays alive for the election and then quickly clears the swamp. TERM LIMITS PLEASE.

The CIA of 2024 is nothing like the CIA of 1963. FJB

Wild Bill Donovan would be ashamed of his creation. My hunch is the CIA of 1963 is much closer to today's version than it's original inception 20 years prior.

The FBI couldn't spot a sniper on a shed roof who was in full view of a lotta folk at the Trump rally..

But they magically spot a sniper whose hiding in the bushes because some eagle eyed goon saw a rifle barrel sticking through a fence

Common who you trying to kid. This is a plain message to Trump that we'll keep trying to knock you off unless you demur to Kamalot.

yup, you nailed it. The agents knew the guy was there. The shooter will probably soon commit suicide like Epstein.

CFP headline: "Trump tackled by Secret Service agents while putting on 5th hole. All 4 shots were fired by SS agents, after seeing rifle muzzle through fence."

I'll bet Trump still sunk the put and took a birdie for the hole. . . .

Expand full comment

Actually, he is said to have said something like, "I was even, and had a birdie putt." Not an exact quote but close Sean, (gas bag) Hannity apparently spoke him afterward.

Expand full comment

I didn't hear that Hannity spoke to Trump, but Lindsay Graham (who sure seems like a GOPe mil-indus estab to me, but what do I know) was ON with Hannity late last night (coulda been a re-air from earlier in the day, IDK) and Lindsay said Trump called HIM and told him his golf score up to that point. 🤣

Expand full comment

Lyndsay Graham is NOT on our side................Trumps side. He is a RINO and Hannity is a fool. He is so wrapped up in his breaking news flashes he can't see or can't admit he is being used by the RINO's.

I'm not a fan of Lindsay's either but TRUMP seems to keep him close!! Perhaps b/c Trump knows / believes he's a good DC inside operator and that Trump can use Lindsay to his benefit. That is the only logic I can think of.

I'll bet Trump wanted to hole the putt after the shots too:)

Another manufactured crisis, the hits just keep on coming. Ever wonder where this started? And when it ramped up to warp speed? I never knew much about Cloward-Piven until someone gave me a lecture on it. Then the high priest of Obamaism defined it in one sentence. More if you're interested; just click my button.
