Sadly, that is the truth today. I can't figure out what the Navy's role and mission is today, and how they should be configured, or how they should be equipped. And judging from recent events, nor can the Department of the Navy. The have to be more than simply a projection platform for strength. That strength comes at too high a cost today to get it wrong. New classes of destroyers cannot be funded, designed, commissioned, and then scrapped like is happening today without some accountability. It isn't just the Navy either. The Air Force can't make up its mind what kind of aircraft it needs other than they need to be expensive, yet some of their biggest successes have come from relatively inexpensive drones that do much the same as piloted a/c. I wont get started on the Army because they are adrift and leaderless at the top. A four-hundred-thousand-person Army that can't deploy have that many boots isn't going to win any wars when it's opponent can put one million plus on the battlefield. This country is leaderless and has lost its unity and sense of purpose. We better find it and fix this mess before we lose our ability to do so.

A lot of that started when DEI and woke was promoted above merit. Trump slowed it down but the last 3 yrs have been a wreck. Vietnam's loss I place solely on the politicians.

As for the third ("dumb"), perhaps not. What if Disney through third parties (i.e., the Hillary Clinton henchmen-lawyer racket) financially props up the Guardian and other rags? Joe Biden isn't the only wh*re with his hand out...

"Separating people from God is a goal of all who seek power over man."

Bingo! The original Snow White was perfect in capturing and expressing the goodness of the Judeo-Christian principles that made this country great when it was released, and movie-goers affiliated with the movie. No marketing plan of modern day has achieved the power to relate to so many people and be so enduring. To the Satanists running this country, our media, schools, and many politicians, the original Snow White is Kryptonite to their actions. They are desperately working to erase or rewrite the truth whenever possible.

Expand full comment

A salute to your service Dear Sir!!! As far as Snow White goes; I’m “in the biz” & have watched it circle the drain for a while now. Sad to say it’s been progressively (key word there) heading in this direction for some time. Back when people with Harvard MBA’s began getting top slots @ the studios is - IMHO - what began the long slide. What do these people know about filmmaking/storytelling? Answer: nothing! They’ve never made films (not even short ones) & never attended film school so they don’t understand the ship upon which they are the captain. They set up a system where every project had to make $$ so they would focus group every project (& every ending) to death. You can’t make movies that way. Think it was old Jack Warner who said you green light a picture “by the nose”, meaning your gut instinct. The so-called “Ivy-league” graduates have no experience in the industry they’re trying to lead (sidebar: always thought it ironic the term “Ivy-league”; Ivy is itself an insidious plant & if allowed to grow unchecked will choke out everything else around it wherever it grows). When corporations like Sony bought studios that further deepens the problem, because the P & L statements have to look good for the shareholders. Everything became over-corporatized. Some films make $$, other will not. You can never have a hit every time out of the gate. The infusion of politics hasn’t helped & it became a matter of filmmakers demonstrating to one another how virtuous or “woke” they are. The wise man who once observed that any organization/business/group, etc. will become leftist unless specifically formed not to demonstrated a level of perspicacity well above the crowd.

The bottom line is this: it ain’t about politics (Jack Warner once said “You want to send a message use Western Union”) because audiences don’t want to be preached to/insulted. How are you going to make $$ when your film insults fully half of your potential audience & you go on some idiotic awards show & insult those people again? That’s rank stupidity on steroids. In the end it all boils down to story; what is it about, who is your character in trouble, why do you care about them, & how are they going to get out of this jam?

Don- This is one of your best columns and will be sent on to our kids in Colorado and California. It will be interesting to observe how they react. My guess. The email will float off into one of those black holes somewhere and disappear; no comments. Our kids all reared their kids as we did on that classic, Snow White. My wife and I laughed out loud at the two poll choices at the end. We voted for Shaft but could have easily gone the other way too. Walt Disney is not turning in his grave; he is spinning big time. Happy Veterans Day. And, oh by the way, the Veterans Hospital in Prescott, AZ is terrific. Many of my Vietnam era buddies have used or presently use that facility. While I am not a veteran (did not pass the physical for the draft- bad knees), I am proud of the VA Hospital here and have never in 20 years heard a negative comment about it. It is an asset to this area of Arizona.

Don, another opus. Thank you. We are watching in real time, the financial effect of DEI. We all find it both absurd and humorous, that a corporation like Disney walks off a cliff financially with these bad decisions.

The unseen effects of DEI become more personal. When you go to a doctor, or other healthcare professional, who is admitted to the program for reasons, other than intelligence, hard work and skill. In addition, we will soon see the effect of these policies as the corp traffic controllers are replaced.

Semper Fi to all those in the Marines. God bless our veterans.

Expand full comment

I agree with you, but as this virus spreads it is increasingly more difficult to ignore it. Perhaps ignoring it has been going on for far too long. Perhaps we should have been alert to it and rejected and stopped it before it got so much of a lead on us. I believe everything happens for a reason. Without obstacles, we become complacent as a society very rapidly and that never ends well. As flawed as he is, I think that's why we have DJ Trump today. Perhaps he is here for a reason, to make us see the corruption that has overtaken our government and much of the world right before our eyes. It's all about timing and I don't believe in coincidences. Everyone needs to draw their own conclusions from it, and learn as well.

I watched that video of the incident and thought to myself, that guy could be me or one of my friends who are so tired of this crap that they just act by impulse. Not sure the statute of limitations on the following so I will disguise the names of those involved just in case. When I was in the Army some of my (nameless here) friends and I went into town to have fun and meet girls and dance. During the evening, a drunken Hippie guy and a couple of his Hippie friends decided he was going to confront one of us because we had short hair and it was obvious we were military and therefore not welcome dancing with Hippie girls. In the interest of brevity, let's just say that when you attack one of us you attack us all and the three Hippee dudes found themselves laying behind the bar and bleeding a little. The whole incident happened in seconds and it was over. The proprietor of the place didn't even call the cops, the dancing continued, and we left. Stuff usually happens in split seconds and I suspect the guy who popped those people reacted out of frustration, annoyance, and a sense of "I've had enough". Sad that people died and his life is ruined but eventually this happens somewhere. It likely could happen with many of us.

The vast majority of good in the West was brought or discovered by the White race. We pass the values that led in one way or another to the above to our children through fables like Snow White. When we try and minimize that through promotion of false story telling it diminishes the pride our children take in their history and in themselves . My comment was about who should really be maintains these stories and why!

I'm no prophet, but I knew way back during the first few months "they" were talking about Political Correctness, that 1. the prima donna class had dreamed it up; 2. it would be a permanent arrangement by some crummy fiat or other; 3. that smart people, i.e., intelligence quotient above 78, would detest it. Since 3's are in the minority, it would be rammed down the throats of those who protested. It's the American way. The only joy there is in PC now is our shredded freedom of speech while we still have it, to make fun of it.

in the eighties i seriously considered pursuing a career in academia. i had only attended conservative Christian schools through undergrad. i had very good grades and a stellar GRE. when i looked into grad schools it soon became obvious that even at that early date academia and Christianity were utterly incompatible. i eventually got an MBA from a government-operated university. there i was blackballed from career placement assistance b/c of questioning a pro-abortion speaker.

You may have been blackballed for your spiritual stand, but I bet you have thrived anyway since then, as a spiritual orientation usually gives one a pretty stable grounding in life.
