Researching the long history of the Santa Ana winds I found this little gem on Wikipedia:

The Chumash tribes near the coast benefited most with the "close juxtaposition of a variety of marine and terrestrial habitats, intensive upwelling in coastal waters, and intentional burning of the landscape made the Santa Barbara Channel region one of the most resource abundant places on the planet."[9]

Indians routinely burnt sections throughout the fruited plain. And we still do this today in properly managed states.

A longer exposition would include a list of the “native” foliage that requires heat to propagate. For example the famous sequoia (cones won’t release seeds without extreme heat) and the soon, if not now, famous milk vetch shrub which halted fire prevention action in the Palisades.

BUTCLIMATE CHANGE !

Expand full comment

It's the exact opposite of climate change. Fires in California are a climate constant. They've been part of the ecosystem there for hundreds of thousands of years.

Expand full comment

Agreed, but the climatistas just don't want to face reality.

Skimmers scammers and liars

Expand full comment

Yes, it's not climate change although where I live the media are having to really restrain themselves from saying the LA fires are climate change only because of X and the information we can find on it about the fires. They can't control that narrative. Yesterday's bonus news where I live was "2024 was the hottest year ever" just so that we can't forget about "cimate change." It is a belief system substituting for a religion.

Interesting, the fires used to cause abundance of fauna.

The fires going right now in Topanga Cyn are going to destroy the last Steelhead run in the region.

I wonder what is different?

I’m thinking we should name a virus after Hillary…a particularly deadly one. Even a garbage scow has more worth than Hillary.

I can’t seem to find the cocktail recipe I created the night that USS Hillary was torpedoed by Trump in 2016. When I find it I’ll share it. I called it Wicked Witch.

Really hard to describe the evil embodied in that “woman.” The governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer is right there with her.

...along with the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, and the Governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham. The female governors seem to be the nastiest of the fifty along with LA mayor, Karen Bass, and former Chicago mayor, Lori Lightfoot - all Democrats.

They may have been pushed up due to their gender. Clearly, they are failures.

Still looking for that recipe, but wanted to say that the name of it is Wicked Witch is Dead. My first thought when Trump had it locked up.

great article don. i would add two points if i may:

1...it seems to me that trump now announces and/or states what his intentions and thoughts are on truth social and x FIRST and that leaves msm to comment without the benefit of rewording, cropping, editing or lying out of the gate. this puts the left at a distinct disadvantage to the honest podcasters who are reporting and commenting in an honest manner.

2...going forward the american people are going to pick up on that so msm will either lose customers or have to adjust their menus accordingly because i would guess that those figuring out (that) msm lies will also connect the dots that the same entities that are feeding the lies are the same entities that produce all the other social media, television, cable and hollywood dreck.

but that's just me.

example..."For far too long, we have relied on taxing our Great People using the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Through soft and pathetically weak Trade agreements, the American Economy has delivered growth and prosperity to the World, while taxing ourselves. It is time for that to change. I am today announcing that I will create the EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Tariffs, Duties, and all Revenue that come from Foreign sources. We will begin charging those that make money off of us with Trade, and they will start paying, FINALLY, their fair share. January 20, 2025, will be the birth date of the External Revenue Service. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

trump on truth social....they are scrambling already.

". . .we cannot afford *not doing* prepublication review for these stories anymore, because the risk is too large, especially from far-right bad actors.”

That's a telling observation right there. If the publication "investigated" left-wing outlets with the same zeal they use in going after "far-right bad actors," they'd be in a different situation entirely. But they don't see the board in their own eye.

Once upon a time, it was SOP (standard operating procedure), for a newspaper or magazine to do a thorough vetting and editing process before publishing an article or story. In their zeal to propagandize and lie about everything as the handmaidens of the Left, they totally trashed that most vital element of publishing and reporting news. It seems to be making a comeback of sorts, but maybe too late for them, as they trashed their reputations at the same time. Hard to win that back, if not impossible.

Remember the 'Arab Spring' ? Our news media doesn't. Wisdom is way more valuable than intellect.

I do and I remember at the time saying that the media was touting it all the while not having a clue of what the actual outcome would be.

The outcome of the Arab Spring was negative, but that has basically been memory holed.

Alot of the Western press went rosy-eyed over the Arab Spring. Especially Thomas Friedman of the NYT. I remember thinking at the time, that they were new to following Middle East news, and had no idea what the Muslim Brotherhood really was.

CBS reporter Laura Loomer was gang-raped at one of the Arab "Spring" rallies. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11394868/lara-logan-cbs-news-arab-spring-egypt/

The mainstream media dropped her like a hot potato because her experience did not support "the narrative" they were trying to promote.

Since then, she just "calls a spade a spade" and this has caused the Left to hate her. Far Left Wikipedia trashes her as a "right wing conspiracy theorist". And Google Search does their usual thing of burying any Search results that show her in a good light, and promoting for pages and pages Search results that paint her as a crackpot. It isn't until page 25 of Google's Search that you get the first link to Loomer's own words via Amazon and her book.

The Repubs that spoke in behalf of Hegseth give me more hope they’ll be bringing their A game in the coming months.

I have buried the axe of my disdain for Tom Cotton for some childish anti-Trump political maneuvering he engaged in after things did not go his way in 2016 primaries.

I repent.

However well he acquitted himself on the battlefield, he’s probably a greater asset for his country now. You da man, Tom!

And I only saw a brief clip of the new Montana Senator, Tim Sheehy, in the hearing, but loved what I saw. He's a former Navy Seal and independent businessman ("aerial firefighting" no less!). He just asked Pete Hegseth "How many genders are there?" Hilarious. Surely he will not "RINO" on us. Will be fantastic if he turns out to be an outspoken America First fighter.

Isn’t it the job of the editors to conduct “prepublication review”? Asking for a friend

Expand full comment

It's hard to avoid the suspicion that instead of editors managing their newsrooms' journalists and verifying their stories, most saw their jobs as presiding over a frantic contest to see who could concoct the most outrageous fairy tales to defame Republicans. It's about time they were called to account.

Expand full comment

In today's journalism world, the editors are subject to the whims of the reporters. Remember what happened at the NYT when the Tom Cotton op-ed was published. The reporters revolted and the editor resigned with his tail between his legs. The inmates now run the asylum so to speak.

In many cases their "reporting" helped the Dems (and more than a few Rinos) destroy these good people's lives. Justice needs to happen for these folks (Bannon, Flynn, Navarro, J6'ers, etc.).

Call your Congressional representatives.

I have been trying to understand how they can do it.

NPR is primarily funded by the public. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting provides grants. The CPB's last 5 out of 8 serving board members were all placed by Republicans. Trump will place 6 of the 9 in his upcoming term.

Trump tried and failed to de fund the CPB.

The funding for NPR is a spider web. Swat the spider and thousands of baby spiders scurry to darkness.
