It is a very different thing to be the shooter: intent, focused, gun in hand, sprinting forward and looking for a target, versus being surprised by him and making your response.
Having said that, it is quite interesting to see the picture of the (female of course) Secret Service agent, pistol on target and finger along the side of the trigger guard vs on the trigger. That Teacher of the Year thing is not really much of an accolade and may be a sign of something far worse. You might not be aware but there are a couple examples in MN where a Teacher of the Year or candidate for same got called out for having unusual sex interests (the one was convicted).
"Teacher of the Year" is about as meaningful as any of the other rewards that the teaching racket likes to give itself -- because any of those means an automatic raise. Like a "PhD in Education", acquired by a poorly written, nonsensical thesis (I'm talking about you, Mrs. Biden!)

In my early Catholic school years I remember counting 52 students taught by one nun without an assistant. They had to be strict. My buddies would get together on the last day of school to see who had the most bad check marks. I always won! But in the end I always knew they loved us and they wanted us to the best that we could be.
One of the boys in my husband’s school, with the most demerits, ended up as a very high level Special Forces operative. Guess his early escapades showed he could handle risk/danger...

I spent less than one year at Catholic school. I got hauled in along with some friends for a minor infraction which I was not even involved in (but, y'know, guilt by assoc.). A nun slapped us all around a bit, not really a big deal. When my Mother found out, she dragged me into school, read the nuns the riot act ("Nobody slaps my kids but ME, and only when I decide they need it!)" She immediately withdrew me from school and took me to the local public school instead. Nobody messed with my Mother.
My mother, when my 6th grade public school teacher disciplined me invited her to tea. Miss Carpenter was notorious among all. She had told me that I needed to cut my hair…which I disputed. My punishment was to write “I must not dispute” 200 times…LOL.
I got slapped by my nun in second grade and told my mother when I got home. She asked me what I did wrong……..I got punished again and never complained about the nuns again. 😇

I don’t believe most low info Americans realize that we are in a civil war, just as serious if not more so as the last one. I often wonder what kind of event has to happen before they wake up a realize we could lose our country. There have been cycles of violence in our past but nothing like what has been steadily building for the last decade. The left has crossed some serious red lines and are now clearly into anarchy territory. This has to stop, but they don’t seem to care what happens.
