The reason that so many on the Left believe that a man can be transformed into a woman or vice versa is because they believe in magical thinking. They also believe that mankind can control the temperature of the earth. The insanity that is gender dysphoria was “transitioned” if you will into a civil rights movement which immediately made this insanity the Leftist cause celeb which it has become. It is the most self destructive canard of this century which has also turned the medical profession into a cruel joke. Let’s hope that the tide is turning and that this modern version of societal insanity is crumbling.

It remains an evergreen truth that "When men stop believing in God, they don't believe in nothing; they believe in anything," attributed to British writer G.K. Chesterton. Leftists believe in the perfectability of mankind; that social systems can make angels out of fallen men; that all that is ncessary is to educate people in the "right" ways of thinking and the world will be a place of perfect harmony. We have seen the result of such delusions. The questions is why do they not?

Shrugged's avatar

"The questions is why do they not?"

Your list of what leftists believe is exactly what the serpent did in the garden so we have an indisputable clue as to the origin of leftist thinking.

I love Chesterton's writings. He was brilliant. As such, he would have agreed with Hannah Arendt, who made a similar observation about people and authoritarian regimes. Authoritarian leaders constantly lie, so the people's faith in truth is lost. But, as she noted, rather than believing nothing, people are likely to believe anything. We see the result; about 35% of Americans are trapped in such delusions. The question is, Is there any hope for them? The answer, No. They've always been with us. As the Book of Ecclesiastes says, "There [this] is nothing new under the sun."

Oh, my main comment is at the very bottom of this thread. All my main comments are. Surber shoves them there - because maga is afraid of dissent. (All insecure people are afraid of dissent. Just look at Trump. He's terrified of it, so he's gotta crush it.)

They do see the depravity of Trump's regime, and they're reacting accordingly. The negative-shift spread will continue widening, because the depravity won't stop.

The most destructive was the femlib movement of the 60/70s....it gave birth to all of this...

Joe LaGreca's avatar

The Femi-Nazi's led the way.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Could not disagree more. The original women's liberation movement was very necessary and was effective.

What it morphed into later is another matter.

LuAnn's avatar

The feminist movement has outlived its purpose by far. I find it to be a complete joke when women in the Western world are still complaining about their lot in life. As women, we live in a time and in countries that allow us to achieve anything we want. Try being a woman in Afghanistan in the 21st century or in another shithole, medieval country like that.

Grumpy Oldman's avatar

TPG, i love a womens movement, especially walking behind her.

I think Americs’s original women’s movement (1848) had something to do with alcohol and voting, but I could be mistaken, then morphed into something else entirely.

In the early 1990’s, after Rush Limbaugh’s Show went national, he coined the term FemiNazi to describe what that movement turned into.

Sam Prentice's avatar

It's really not fair to be a man. Everyone else gets to complain about how tough they have it and how everyone is against them, bla, bla, bla. But nobody wants to hear our complaints about anything. We are supposed to just sit still, be quiet, and continue paying for everyone and allowing them to be morons without removing themselves from the gene pool. Ah, the humanity of it all. It's not fair..........

Grumpy Oldman's avatar

Oh hell, Sam, fairness has nothing to do with anything. That’s why there aren’t any real men in politics, we’re too busy working and rearing productive, responsible children and now enjoying our grandchildren and the fruits of our labor.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Well, Grumpy, it was indeed women (e.g., Susan Anthony) that led the fight for women to get the vote, which was somewhat contemporaneous with the Temperance movement.

But that didn't have really anything to do with the women's rights movement that arose in the 1960-70's. It was extremely sick that women's career options were limited to teacher, nurse, secretary, and that the entire "power structure" was that the men were in charge and the women were subservient serfs.

So the original women's movement of the 60-70's was essential, and it did succeed.

Rush Limbaugh indeed coined the term Femi-Nazi's, and his voice dripped with resentment and anger every time Rush spoke about women. This was why I never could stand listening to Rush. It was a big blind spot for him. Essentially, he never got over his own personal resentment in his personal experience with women, and projected that as a stereotype onto ALL women.

Like all bigoted prejudices, it was an unjust condemnation of an entire class of people--all women--that Rush bashed. And it is mentally lazy for men today to blame the Leftist politics in America on women. In order to do that, you have to blind yourself to the vast numbers of white men who are eagerly and gladly participating on the Left-- and they are FUNDING the Left, and they are it's spokesmen in Congress, and are a backbone of the administrative side of the Democratic Party. They also compose the backbone of the LEGAL attack on America.

Grumpy-- if you are honest, you would have to call for MEN to lose their power to vote, because a large chunk of white men are the backbone of the Left.

I do honestly think it is mentally lazy to just gripe at "women" for the political problems in the US and completely ignore the WHITE MEN that are integral to the Left's success.

You and others who "blanket bash" women strike a real nerve in me. A huge chunk of women--including all of those who comment here--are devoted to the freedom of America and are pouring our hearts, minds, and finances into the MAGA movement. I do, though, respect and share your views on most other things, and do love your frankness, so we're still friends!!!

Grumpy Oldman's avatar

Lighten up, Francis. Women are, after all, "nurturers", but the old Playboy Bunny, Gloria Steinem, disagrees.

The NAG Movement served a purpose 150+ years ago, but not so much anymore. Now, it seems to be infiltrated by a bunch of fat, dawg-a$$ ugly, screaming, rainbow-haired harpies with nothing much to say. Paraphrasing Bertrand Russell, "...men and women are born ignorant, not stupid; both are made stupid by indoctrination masquerading as education...".

Because you never listened to Rush Limbaugh, nor read his books and syndicated columns or, even his children's books, you have no idea what you're writing about. He always pointed out democRAT hypocrisy and leftist-Marxist absurdity by being absurd.

Do a little research about a subject before proving this biblical proverb true: "...even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is considered wise...".

I prefer Mark Twain's, or was it Abe Lincoln's, aphorism: "...better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak (in your case, TPG, write) and remove all doubt...". There are other iterations I like, too, but these'll suffice.

I've read many of your comments, TPG, and your smarter than this. Just keep it civil.

the Grumpy Old Man

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Well, I think we all here do agree that the "women's movement" today is a mess and damaging to America, so we're in sync on that.

And, I'll admit I don't have ALOT of info on Rush to opine-- but I did repeatedly try to listen to him off and on over many years. AND, there was one fellow in particular that I knew who listened religiously to Rush, and this guy was a true bitter sexist and hardcore in his resentment of women, so by extension that did not give me a good impression of Rush.

I know many here really admired Rush. And they are probably right. But all humans have their weak spot, and in my view, Rush did have a weak spot when he came to respecting women in general. All of our leaders have aspects of them that are not up to their overall level of virtue. But that doesn't obliterate their value--it just means we're all human. I haven't yet met a perfect paragon of virtue and wisdom. Thankfully, many wonderful people make wonderful contributions to our world, and I will acknowledge that Rush was one of these.

But this sloppy tendency to blame "WOMEN" for the problems in America is emotion speaking, not reason. I've raised this point before about all the white men who are an integral part of the Left and driving alot of the damage to America, and no one has ever admitted that there's alot of MEN who are doing damage too.

Have a good evening! Tomorrow's a new day, and I always enjoy reading your comments. We shall all just Carry On. :) TPG

Ross's avatar

Whew! Tell it like it is TPG.

I totally agree.

I think your most perceptive comment is “like all bigoted prejudices, it was an unjust condemnation of an entire class of people.”

People must be condemned for what they do and not what they are.

Women make wonderful teachers. So do men. I spent my entire professional life as a teacher. A very successful teacher both academically and pastorally. I worked in both public and private schools, coeducational and single sex, primary and secondary, rural and urban over more than forty years. I worked for both male and female principals, and as a head of department worked with both men and women.

Some of the best and worst were men, and not surprisingly some of the best and worst were women.

My closest friends and colleagues were the same: both men and women.

I can say with confidence that I could do and say things as a man that women couldn’t, and the women I worked for and with could and did say and do what I couldn’t.

Good teams of men and women work like good marriages. They complement and complete each other and are always more effective.

No, I did not think that over sixty years ago.

My conclusions are a consequence of lived experience.

Bless xx

Valoree Dowell's avatar

"Good teams of men and women work like good marriages. They complement and complete each other and are always more effective." Amen. The thorn in the side of feminism is it tried (still tries?) to replace the feminine, by competing with, usurping, disparaging the masculine. Think of magnetic forces. When the poles are in sync, they attract and thereby create power. When in opposition, the potential force is in abeyance. You need both for success.

Wim de Vriend's avatar

I liked listening to Limbaugh, because he was a true master of his craft. Very, very creative, and a star for a worthwhile cause because Conservatism has gone to sleep. And FUNNY ... So I regret that you avoided him.

Let me quote you: "... it is mentally lazy for men today to blame the Leftist politics in America on women. In order to do that, you have to blind yourself to the vast numbers of white men who are eagerly and gladly participating on the Left ..."

Have you watched any of the footage of the anti-ICE rioters -- excuse me, protesters -- ranting and raving and screeching foul language: There may be exceptions that I have not seen, but the great majority ARE women. Although I admit, it can be hard to tell, given the confusion sown by militant trannies, green hair, nose rings suitable for pigs, out-of-control tattooing and gross fatness ...

dancingtime's avatar

Well….that was the problem….the morphing….the original concept was necessary….I was an adult at the time and in the workforce…I knew what was going on…but it was taken over by radicals who are just as mentally unbalanced today as they were then….neither sex knew how to handle women going into non-traditional jobs, which was the core reason for it….what the end result was dominatrixes in the business and political worlds and the neutering and subjugation of men….

It matters not how necessary the beginning was. What matters is what the ending was…The same is true of gays coming out of the closet and integration…The beginnings were right but the radicals destroyed the societal changes.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

But dancingtime, if only "the ending" matters, would you say that is true of America itself? That despite the amazing excellence of the Founding Fathers, since we now find ourselves in a difficult situation, that therefore everything that preceded today was in error?

The women's movement of the 60's-70's achieved some valuable things. What came after that went "under the guise" of a "women's movement", but it was a wolf in sheep's clothing--just another vehicle the Left used to contaminate everything.

dancingtime's avatar

The only valuable thing which came out of the 60/70s femlib movement, imho, was the opening of doors to non-traditional female vocations...all part of the meritocracy concept...."ending" was not perhaps an accurate word choice....we are never at "an end"....everything evolves and we will see the evolution of the male/female relationships continue with, hopefully, the balance between the typical strengths and weaknesses.....and the acceptance of those who do not naturally fall within those traditional categories.

This is not a forum for writing a tome on the subject. If you are a literalist, please do not further respond. I am a generalist and speak in broad strokes. The femlib movement, like all movements, had noble beginnings but was hijacked by radicals. We opened doors, got gays out of the closet and accepted, and opened opportunity to blacks....then the radicals came....

Done on the subject. I am in my 8th decade...lived it all....

And trannies look bad enough as it is, especially the obese males wearing a dress and sporting a five o'clock shadow. Lefties are appalled and disgusted by these men (just as you and I are) in their private thoughts, but they would never ever admit that because they would be kicked out of the Good White People™ club.

Lefties tell each other that trannies murder children indiscriminately out of frustration with the world not accepting them for their "true" identity. But this is now getting to be one of those 80-20 issues, or even 90-10, where the vast majority of people, even many Good White People™ with NPR memberships, recognize that trannies hopped up on hormones are malevolently insane.

Nine people are dead. That is the headline. When a mass killer spirals through mental instability, heavy drug use, and years of medicalized identity intervention, the system does not get to shrug and say “nothing to see here.” We are watching institutions prioritize ideology over early intervention, politics over prevention, and narrative management over truth. Schools fail. Mental health systems fail. Law enforcement messaging fails. And afterward, everyone argues about language instead of causes. If we cannot ask hard questions about psychiatric drugs, youth medicalization, and radical online subcultures, we are not serious about stopping the next tragedy. This is not compassion. It is cowardice dressed as virtue.

One such were the witch-hunts of the 15th and 16th centuries, but a more recent one was the "satanic ritual" child abuse in day care centers, which had elements in common with the first one named. Much of the blame for that one should land on the "caring community" -- that army of counselors and psycho-psychologists and social workers who indoctrinated innocent little kids with claptrap.

Today’s survey omitted one very important option. Reopen mental hospitals (i.e. insane asylums).
