The 11th Circuit Court, which covers Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, allowed Alabama to enforce its ban on transgender pills and surgery for minors. The children of Alabama should thank the court. If they want to transition as adults, that is their business. But for now, they are kids and they must do what adults tell them to do — and adults must tell them no.
The legal argument in this case is based on whether after fighting a civil war to end slavery, Republicans in Congress and three-quarters of the states meant to make include transgenders when the 14th Amendment ended discrimination against former slaves.
That argument is above my pay grade, but the Alabama law lays out the case against allowing the butchery of children.
For minors who are placed on puberty blockers that inhibit their bodies from experiencing the natural process of sexual development, the overwhelming majority will continue down a path toward cross-sex hormones and cosmetic surgery.
This unproven, poorly studied series of interventions results in numerous harmful effects for minors, as well as risks of effects simply unknown due to the new and experimental nature of these interventions.
Among the known harms from puberty blockers is diminished bone density; the full effect of puberty blockers on brain development and cognition are yet unknown, though reason for concern is now present. There is no research on the long-term risks to minors of persistent exposure to puberty blockers.
With the administration of cross-sex hormones comes increased risks of cardiovascular disease, thromboembolic stroke, asthma, COPD, and cancer.
Puberty blockers prevent gonadal maturation and thus render patients taking these drugs infertile.
Introducing cross-sex hormones to children with immature gonads as a direct result of pubertal blockade is expected to cause irreversible sterility. Sterilization is also permanent for those who undergo surgery to remove reproductive organs, and such persons are likely to suffer through a lifetime of complications from the surgery, infections, and other difficulties requiring yet more medical intervention.
Several studies demonstrate that hormonal and surgical interventions often do not resolve the underlying psychological issues affecting the individual. For example, individuals who undergo cross-sex cosmetic surgical procedures have been found to suffer from elevated mortality rates higher than the general population. They experience significantly higher rates of substance abuse, depression, and psychiatric hospitalizations.
Minors, and often their parents, are unable to comprehend and fully appreciate the risk and life implications, including permanent sterility, that result from the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical procedures.
Justice Barbara Lagoa, a Trump appointee writing for the court, said, “This case revolves around an issue that is surely of the utmost importance to all of the parties involved: the safety and well-being of the children of Alabama. But it is complicated by the fact that there is a strong disagreement between the parties over what is best for those children. Absent a constitutional mandate to the contrary, these types of issues are quintessentially the sort that our system of government reserves to legislative, not judicial, action.”
The 14th Amendment likely protects children as a class from tranny predators and butchers. Regardless. the butchery must pause because the damage done is permanent.
Bill Maher joked, “I understand that being trans is different, it’s innate. But kids do have phases. Kids are fluid about everything. If they know at age 8 what they wanted to be, the world would be filled with cowboys and princesses. I wanted to be a pirate. Thank God no one scheduled me for eye removal and peg leg surgery.”
His joke makes more sense than lawyers arguing in favor of feeding kids hormone blockers and messing around with their genitalia.
The Alabama law and this decision to not enjoin it reflect a growing awareness that, hey, tranny surgery and hormone blockers stink because they are irreversible, and they can cause long-term physical health and mental health problems. The overwrought choice groomers argue to parents is it is better to have a live daughter than a dead son, but what happens to that son when he realizes being a daughter is a dead end for him?
After years of a coordinated media effort to shove tranny-ism down the throats of the public, the grownups have entered the room and said enough. The pro-tranny propaganda fails when reality rises. You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, and you cannot make a boy out of a girl.
Good legislators are fighting back. Alabamians and people of 18 other states (including West Virginia) this year have either restricted or banned transgendering kids.
Entire countries are banning the mutilation of children. The press cries foul.
Radio Free Europe reported, “Russian President Vladimir Putin on July 24 signed into law a ban on gender-reassignment surgery and hormone therapy done as part of the gender-transition process. Such treatment will be allowed only in the case of ‘congenital physiological anomalies of sex formation in children.’ Russian deputies in recent weeks approved the bill banning surgical and legal gender reassignment in a move by lawmakers to promote so-called ‘family values.’ The bill is the latest among numerous conservative moves by the Kremlin since Russia started its ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.”
Ah, if you oppose cutting up a child, then you support Putin’s invasion of Donbas in Ukraine.
But that does not explain Sweden’s decision to reverse its support of transsexual surgery in favor of a ban on butchering children.
The Daily Citizen reported, “Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare published its new guidelines for treating minors struggling with sexual identity confusion: ‘Updated knowledge support for care for gender dysphoria in young people.’
“The new guidance continues Sweden’s move away from medical treatments — puberty blockers, hormones and surgeries — that attempt to make children appear like the opposite sex. Instead of medical interventions, the board encourages ‘psychosocial care’ for gender-confused minors.
“The board’s announcement lists three major issues with the previous guidelines: ‘insufficient scientific evidence’; the ‘unexplained increase’ in people receiving a diagnosis of gender dysphoria — especially 13- to 17-year-old teen girls; and ‘the documented occurrence of detransition.’”
Sweden is not alone.
Leor Sapir wrote, “In the past few years, European health authorities conducted systematic reviews of evidence for the benefits and risks of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. The findings from these reviews—that the certainty of benefits is very low—guided the hand of policymakers there to restrict access to hormones. Currently, minors in these countries can access puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones only if they meet strict eligibility requirements as set out in the Dutch protocol and only in the context of a tightly controlled research setting.
“As I’ve explained in past writings, the research from the Dutch clinics is championed even by American proponents of ‘affirmative’ medicine as the gold standard in pediatric gender medicine. These advocates either don’t know or are deliberately misleading the public about the discrepancy between the Dutch protocol and what is actually happening in American clinics.
“The American approach effectively puts distressed teenagers in the driver’s seat of making risky and irreversible medical decisions. It assumes that ‘gender identity’ is innate and immutable, that some kids are just born ‘trans’ and can know this from as young as toddlerhood. It also uses the ‘minority stress’ model to explain away co-occurring mental-health problems, which appear in roughly three-quarters of patients presenting at pediatric gender clinics.”
Adults are supposed to protect children from themselves. Doctors are supposed to first do no harm. Lefties want us to abandon our responsibilities in favor of whatever dangerous nonsense they are pushing on any particular day.
I ask, if trans children are born that way why do girl-to-boy trans get breasts and periods, and boy-to-girl trans get dicks?
And if your sex does not determine your gender, then how does changing your sex affirm your gender?
Those opposed to Alabama’s ban on transgendering kids asserted a right of parents to transgender their kids — even as groomers seek to ban schools from telling parents they are transitioning their kids.
The devil has many strengths but he is very weak in logic.
If ever there was unifying cause that cuts across ALL political, economic, and social barriers THIS one is it (along with its evil twin, DIE/CRT).
They must be stomped to death never to rear their ugly head again.
But keep a most watchful eye on your local school systems as these people are ruthlessly stealthy and deceitful and will try anything to remain alive. Show NO MERCY.
Whoever thought Vladimir Putin would come out on the right side of anything (Ban gender re-assignment surgery). Maybe there IS hope.
