When one listens to what Trump’s ideas and policies really were and what they would be in a second term I don’t understand what is wrong with putting America first.

Trump wants us to make stuff… stuff we used to make but has been shipped off to some foreign country with the quality control of a person controlling their bowels when the bowels aren’t working properly and someone else will clean up the mess.

I really don’t get it except Trump is a threat to the people and businesses that have sold us out and want to finish the job.

What is wrong with securing our borders and sending back those who have broken our laws by entering illegally? That seems an impossible task for those in charge. Why? Somebody is benefiting from this catastrophe and it’s not the average person.

Our country is messed up biggly and we elected the clowns who are doing this to us.

Time to stop and Trump is the stopper.

Agree, but we did not elect the clowns; liberals and voting fraud and mis-directed funds by the RNC to RINO's did.

I cannot tell you how many right leaning people I have talked to that admitted they voted for Obama because they thought he was going to be the one to finally end the racial divide. He did the opposite. Sadly, they all bought the t-shirt and failed to look at our vett the man wearing it.

When I lived in Clownifornia I voted for Feinstein twice. I never voted for Barbara Boxster, though. We didn’t have much of a choice and I did vote for Arnold. That didn’t turn out well.

Nothing is wrong with any of those things Trump proposes. We allowed capitalism and the need to keep costs down to be used against us, knowingly or unknowingly. Now we see the results and it is our people who have lost jobs and whole professions. The balance between capitalism and "nationalism first" needs to be restored to a healthy and sustainable one.

We need to update that and add dig baby dig. Coal miners need jobs and we need power plants.

And perhaps build a few dozen nuke generating plants to offset the dams we are taking out of service and the coal mines we have been closing. Use the hard rock mines in the southwest to house and store the spent fuel until technology catches up and we can safely dispose of it.

I’m sad to say that my GOPe husband still subscribes to the hard copy of NR. I cringe whenever I find it in our mailbox. He is the one who turned me into a conservative at age 27 when I had been completely apolitical for all of my adult life. My first vote for president was Reagan in 1980 about 6 weeks before we got married.

I’ve asked myself what changed and I think it’s that I listened religiously to Rush for almost 30 years and he never did. He will hold his nose and vote for Trump and we will continue to rarely discuss politics.

Happy Boxing Day to all!

You are not the only woman I know of that became more conservative than her husband from listening to Rush. My wife didn't ever listen to him, but when she was home with our son during the Janet Mills covid lockdowns, or the Jan-demic as I called it, she went down some pretty deep rabbit holes online that were a stretch even for this conspiracy theorist! I subscribed to NR for years. Cancelled sometime in between the death of WFB and the Against Trump issue.

My continuing favorite is the one with the ACME electromagnet and the iron shot in the RR’s bird seed. He puts it in a cave in the desert and as they all do started off easy enough with discarded nails and wire being sucked in at bullet speed but you knew things were starting to go to hell when a US Postal Service Mail Box and a Satellite showed up only to be followed smartly by the QE11… I get giddy just thinking about it.

Not only do I want Jim ‘the Clown’ Acosta back, I want Don sitting right behind him making goats horns every time that dildo opens his mouth.

I hope the writers from the Atlantic learn to code when AI takes their jobs. Oh, wait AI will be able to code too. AI can write a legal brief, a news story, teach a math class, trade stocks, handle financial transactions and route air and rail traffic. Last I checked it can't mine coal, fix a car, pave a road, or roof a house. Good luck to these smug shitheads. A 5th grade educated farmer in the 19th century was more literate and had a better vocabulary than these educated idiots writing such drivel. And yes, the coyote is smarter than them.

Beginning January 2024, Trump needs a press secretary, schooled in the martial arts, who turns the press room into a MMA cage and beats the shit out of every reporter who works for the Atlantic, CNN, MSNBC, Wapo, NYT, etc., and publishes or airs a bullshit story about our president and his administration. My guess is it might take about a week to straighten out the media.

"The media needs Trump"

The propaganda apparatus needs Trump. Trump does not need the propaganda apparatus.

"A four-year absence devastated ratings and advertising"

Yes, but not sufficiently. A second Trump administration ought to feature a DoJ with a corps of parasites dedicated to waging lawfare on the NYT, the Bezos Post, AP, ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/CNBC/[P]MSNBC to bankrupt each one.

"The problem for NR and the Weekly Standard (which went out of business completely) is that the anti-Trump market already was oversaturated by openly liberal lizards..."

Exactly - NOT because NR wasn't publishing pro-Trump propaganda and puff pieces - the result would have been the same had it done so - what subscribers wanted was that for which NR became respected under WFB, Jr., but as you point out, Brother Don, "...[it] revealed itself to be another conservative institution taken over a generation later by [mediocre] liberals."

"'The press has repeatedly fallen into Donald Trump’s traps. A second term could render it irrelevant.'"

Well, *I* certainly hope so.

"'...to investigate his presidency relentlessly, burrowing deep into every obscure corner where power might be abused...'"

If the propaganda apparatus were to even have a prayer of ever regaining a shred of legitimacy, it will need to demonstrate it is committed to doing just that with powerful Democrats (both documented and undocumented) in the Political, Corporate, and Donor Classes, regardless of the party of the administration in power.

Should it do so and sustain such an ethic for a generation or three, it might regain some respect.

In re: today's poll question, it's Rocket-powered roller skates.

Anyone ever ask themselves, what would it look like if the MSM did report the news objectively? As I have said before many times, the so-called news has been reduced to mere entertainment value today. But why? Because there are too many news media networks and sites to support that number. They all rely on the same sources for their "news" and so it all sounds the same today, regardless of which moron delivers their take on it. Pure news can be pretty mundane and many times boring. In today's fast paced "breaking news" environment, it is not economically sustainable given the number of outlets in the business of reporting. Their business is dying rapidly. So when the left decided to infiltrate and take over the news and control it, they needed it to be entertaining enough to get their message out so their disciples would watch it. From purely an economic viability standpoint, becoming a weapon to attack DJ Trump was a natural for them. Simply put, they need a target or villain to make it work and Trump is their choice for obvious reasons. But their business model is not sustainable because, regardless of one's ideology, I believe most people want to be told the truth and be aware of actual facts and then allowed to make their own judgement of how it relates to them. Liberals will always take those facts and distort them to make it fit in their alter-reality world. The rest of us will take those facts and information and assess how it will affect our own lives. So it doesn't matter if today Mr. Trump is the target de jour of the left. It could just as easily be Mr. DeSantis or some other conservative candidate. Their objective is always the same; destroy the opposition, suppress truth if it conflicts with their ideology, and generate clicks and ad revenue on their sites.
