The key to Pravda — the Soviet version of propaganda — was not to get people to believe it, but to get people to stop following the news. Judging by television ratings in the 21st century, it is working. It indoctrinates Americans to believe they are powerless and that resistance is futile.
The democrats feared Mike Pence would do his Constitutional duty to reject electors from PA, GA, AZ, WI, MI and remand back to respective state legislature to adjudicate the fraud. That could have overturned the 2020 election. The false insurrection with their Ray Epps plants stopped this even tho Pence wasn't going to do what he should have done. Jan 6th was a CIA/ FBI orchestrated riot used to “discredit” the opposition to their desired outcome. There is a lot to take away here, but I am fascinated lately by wording: "present offensive and misleading conclusions about the attack." Notice the word "conclusions." If you watched the episode, you would notice that what Tucker did was not present "a conclusion" but present evidence that undercut previous "conclusions," the "approved" ones. "Conclusions" are only "good" or "bad" based on a single criterion: are they based on evidence? They cannot be offensive or misleading unless you can prove they were not based on evidence, but no one angry at Tucker Carlson tries to prove they weren't (other than saying "cherry picked," which is exactly what I would say of the J6 committee).
What angers me most is that Congressional RINOs have mostly ignored all of the innocent people swept up in the J6 Insurrection fantasy and denied their basic Constitutional rights for purely political reasons.
Great column again, Don. Either the law is the same for everyone or we have become a nation of men, not laws. If the laws do not restrain all lawbreakers then the law is doubly an ass. Any rule that applies to citizens either applies to Congress and its staffers (aren't they citizens?) or it shouldn't be a law. Any circumstance involving citizens and any law enforcement should result in the same results. If money can get someone off for a clear violation, then the regulation, law, or ordinance should be thrown out. The people who make laws must be made to abide by that law, too. No exceptions.
I was very glad to see Tucker take up the case of Jacob Chansley last night. We know him as the Q Anon Shaman, Chewbacca, or as he and his mother prefer, America's Shaman. Evidence was withheld from his lawyer that Tucker showed on Monday night that could have helped his case. The poor man, who is a Navy veteran with mental health issues, was essentially escorted around by the Capitol Police. He did nothing wrong. He was not violent. Like with the other J6 prisoners, this is all political not to mention unconstitutional. It is very, very sad to America function this way where justice is not blind. All of this was planned and calculated with the ultimate goal of getting rid of Trump. I honestly do not know how you, as Americans, can right the ship. But surely this cannot go on.
It infuriates me that Kevin McCarthy released the January 6th videos to Fox News, the network that was all in on the 2020 steal. The carefully curated snippets that Tucker Carlson is allowed to air after going through Murdoch’s legal department are a distraction meant to appease the MAGA base. The Shaman strolling along with a police escort followed by Carlson’s scoldings - what an insult. Where is the footage from every camera angle of Ashli Babbitt being murdered and Rosanne Boyland being beaten and dragged through the corridors? I don’t watch Fox and I don’t need the media to filter through the video for me.
The Speaker and every Republican congressman needs their phone lines melted down until all the footage is released to the public. The leadership of both parties was in on this insurrection scam and they will use every means to hide it from us.
