01/08/26: The Japanese 1970s-1990s lost @ 10 billion dollars (back when that was a lot of money; today it's Somali pocket change) buying up American real estate.

I thought I saw the same pattern when the Chinese started punching the Uncle Remus Tar Baby by buying the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in Manhattan.

Nope. We now know that China's real estate investments were in Venezuela. Oh dear. Kaboom. All gone.

Maybe Xi can do some Cracker Barrel TV ads as a paid model to recover some of the dough blown up by the same people who will blow him up if he FAFO's with Taiwan.

Chinese bought some office buildings about 15 years ago here in Dallas, when sold about 4 years ago, they had used industrial type chemicals to clean the 20 stories of toilets, ALL the sewer pipes in the building had t/b replaced over a year or two. Chinese prop mgt company must have been doing as is in China. Similar to contractor corruption in building calamities projects in…China bridges & buildings, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Middle East, (FL condo buildings)….a little less re-bar here, weaker concrete in earthquake zones, sits for years until…

01/09/26: Long ago, I read about an airport, possibly in Shanghai, when a British supervisor irately stated that the Chinese baggage handlers would casually smoke within feet of highly explosive cannisters. He'd scream everyday at them. No one paid any attention and kept on smoking. Nothing has changed. Nepotism = less rebar = crap air defense radar / fire control systems = KABOOM!

It's nice to see our hemisphere taken care of by our president.

Chuck Goldman's avatar

At 77 I don’t care about any one else other than out Hemisphere and our allies elsewhere that help to keep us safe.

As a matter of fact, in order to not appear terminally selfish let me fine tune even that, I only care about the northern part of our hemisphere.

Look kids, War is coming. It’s probs gonna kick off in Europe with a Civil war and spread. So all these pissant Euro-weenie nations screaming about Greenland and what they’re gonna do is bullshit. I do know this much though T will not sacrifice anymore NA kids to a WW meat grinder where we β€˜Free’ a bunch of queer countries who in 5 years start their continental bullshit

about what barbarians the NA’s were and are and how they know what’s best for them…. only to fuck it up again in 50-75 years and start begging us to bail them out again.

Fuck that and Fuck them!

Yep, Eurotrash think themselves superior and are anything but that, and the Canadians, by and large, are every bit as bad.

Chuck Goldman's avatar

I’m on the ground here in Canada or Canada-Stan or Chinese province ??? And I can tell you that normal tax paying, hard working Canadians to the tune of around 70% want T to annex or invade or digest the country cause we’ve lost control of the place due to the election stealing, manipulation or whatever. When ever we used to see Trudeau or the current guy Carney do the European leg cross we lose our lunch

Don Reed's avatar

01/08/26: Chuck, the world war (WWIII) started in 2020 with the Chinese Covid launch (maybe Maduro would still be in power if Chinese Needles --- or noodles --- had been fired at the incoming American helicopters and missiles). Israel October 2023 was Stalingrad II. Venezuela and the Russian ship being boarded and seized was D-Day II. What's next?

Steve (recovering lawyer)'s avatar

It is now clear that America's real enemies actually reside within its borders. The democrat party and its lickspittle apologists in the corporate media have been hoping for a crazed lunatic being killed by Homeland Security and it has now happened, with the usual result: chest-thumping by democrat politicians, amplified by the media looking to foment another George Floyd episode and willing idiots, malcontents, weirdos and losers to carry out their marching orders. I hope that Trump reacts just as vigorously to our domestic enemies as he has to the foreign ones. Weakness in the face of militant opposition is not the appropriate response.

dancingtime's avatar

That has been known for some time....I maintain that Pelosi, behind, with others, J6, retired to put herself more beyond the reach of punishment for what she did that day.....I wish that Trump were more vindictive...he needs a bad guy (well, Steve Miller is one) to do his dirty work....

dancingtime's avatar

Yes...I was having difficulty with the correct adjective....He plays a tough guy persona but avoids showing the soft side. People like him need a hatchet man.

And following the money trail back leads to the WEF whose goal is to destroy the United States and burden us with crippling debt.

Here we are, trillions under water and borrowing money which we then hand to foreign despots and to NGO's who then send suitcases of cash to fund terrorism abroad, or worst of all, an imposter in the White House who sent pallets of cash to Iran.

dancingtime's avatar

Actually, burdening us with crippling debt, per se, is not a direct goal of the WEF....imho...overwhelming the system with worldwide open borders, concentrating first on western countries....yes....they are not worried about communist countries....those are already where they want them to be...the goal is global communism....akin to global Islamic caliphate....the question is who, if either, will win and are they compatible....

Jeremy R's avatar

Bill Gates has said that their goal is to reduce the population of earth to under one billion people. War famine and poison are tools he gladly employs to reach that goal. They want a total dictatorship with their supreme council running the ahow and us replaced with People who easily accept living without luxury and barely any necessity. It isn't worth my time to read or study anything posted or published by mainstream media, especially newspapers.

Jim's avatar

It is amazing. Technology hurt them. And of course they drove half the readers away deliberately by lying to them. I guess all that consolidation wasn't so smart after all.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

I don't recall ever having read much from the Pittsburg Post Gazette. I know Philly is a hard core Left pit ("city"), but is Pittsburg too? And was the Post Gazette also just another typical far Left rag?

Shrugged's avatar

I think the right-leaning paper in Pittsburgh was the Pittsburgh Press but it went under, or was bought by the Post Gazzette. I left at a fairly young age so my perceptions may not be accurate (I'm sure Mr. Surber knows all the newspaper history) but Pittsburgh was dominated by union democrat voters who were NOT the present day leftist lunatics. they worked hard for their pay, voted for what is today America First policies, and were probably not in favor of today's liberal social crap. Basically, a Pittsburgh union worker isn't far from a Trump supporter in attitude and belief.

Those here with more knowledge, please weight-in.

The suburbs were growing fast with wealth and more conservative views and have diluted the union democrat image especially when steel and smoke left the city. The city isn't what it was when I was there in 1970.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

It used to be a far-left rag:

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is no longer considered a left-wing paper; it has shifted to a right-center editorial stance, particularly after 2018 when its editorial operations were consolidated with its conservative-leaning sister paper, The Blade of Toledo.

As of recent years, the paper has endorsed Republican candidates, including Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, and its opinion content has increasingly favored right-leaning perspectives.

The Post-Gazette historically supported liberal causes and Democratic presidential candidates, not endorsing a Republican for president since 1972 until its 2020 endorsement of Trump.

RevMikeyMac's avatar

Wasn't '72 the year Nixon won 49 states (which is why the left had to take him out)? I'm sure Trump has won 49 states at least once - but we'll never know because of vote fraud and leftist "journalism".

Sam Prentice's avatar

I don't like to be the skunk at the picnic, but we are in very deep and troubled waters. Trump has just given us a little breathing room. But he is one of a kind and as talented as his cabinet is, I don't see anyone there with even close to the capability or charisma that Trump has. Look how disgracefully pathetic and limp his support is coming from his own feckless Republicans. They really are disgusting and if we truly are in battle with them as our military, they are all nothing but deserters. They won't even pick up their weapons and fight. They let Trump do all the work, then they get on the phone and ask for donations for doing nothing. And they all can't wait for Trump to be gone so they can all get back to business as usual.

No, we are in very deep trouble once Trump is no longer in charge.

dancingtime's avatar

Ineffective? What makes you think that FJB or Austin or Milley were on Team USA? That open border and the influx of China with BRICs happened for a reason....it was wanted and allowed. I hear both sides of the argument about McCarthy (the other one) but I have been saying for years "where's McCarthy when you need him?"....The election of Mamdani, a communist as is AOC and friends, will embolden these people to up the schedule of converting this country into a communist paradise....It's been over a hundred years in the making....Trump is just holding his thumb in the hole in the dike...we need people to take his place....

Shrugged's avatar

All of them would be clueless and cross-eyed if they ever had to orchestrate a military attack - totally ineffective.

Yes, I agree everything under Obama/Biden was intentionally done to destroy our Republic. They are enemies of state and I have said this repeatedly in my posts here.

I have been screaming about the mid-terms being the biggest issue in front of us because the left is salivating about taking one or both Houses of congress to stop trump and possibly impeach him. That threat is as big as any war threat.

Our war is with a Congress - both parties - who don't like trump and want him gone. We can count on one hand the republicans who are truly Trump patriots.

That is scary and we all forget how little footing Trump has with his colleagues in DC. 98% of them are just 'waiting him out'.

RevMikeyMac's avatar

This is so true (about Congress); it continues to be a corrupt cesspool that hates Trump and isn't supporting his policies - MAGA - at all with significant legislation that would clean up Washington.

Trump's next high stakes invasion needs to completely expose and neutralize them like he's just done to China, Iran and Russia (throw the EU in there as well).

Sam Prentice's avatar

With the exception of Reagan, all of our previous presidents and political leaders talked ceaselessly and poetically about all of the dangers in the world and what had to be done about them. They talked and talked, and then talked some more. They held conferences and formed new organizations where they could talk more formally. But everything always remained the same and nothing ever changed.

Trump suffers none of that. He identifies a problem and always sees the opportunities that accompany it. He determines his course of action, and then he does it. It is over before most people even know it happened. Trump is a force in this world unlike anything witnessed in modern times. We don't know how lucky we are to have him on the stage at this point in history.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Yes! And interesting wording you used in this sentence: "He identifies a problem and always sees the opportunities that accompany it."

I think your statement gets at an important underlying truth--that problems (some form of evil or simple "badness") ALWAYS, by definition, include some weaknesses. We tend to be impressed and intimidated by evil and "badness", but we forget that they are always fatally flawed because of some underlying false premise.

I think Trump is fundamentally not as intimidated as most people are by evil; probably because he has already seen and overcome so much of it (as a real estate developer in NY dealing with the Mafia (now demised, thanks to Guiliani) and hardcore NY liberals).

So Trump does go straight to recognizing the weaknesses--"opportunities" and exploiting them ruthlessly to bring down evil.

I love it!

steph_gray's avatar

Today I could easily see the obvious choice (making PDJT look good), but I think that's more for the brainwashed herd of DementoRats and most of their dumbest politicians and of course all their "journos."

I think the power brokers behind the scenes might be more worried about setbacks to Temu Mao (one of the funniest monikers ever!).

The Klaus Schwab crowd has been counting on the CCP for years to take the USA and all of Western Civilization as we know it down for them. And up until this year the CCP seems to have been succeeding.

They were also counting on machine fraud assistance with the midterms.

It's been a great start to the new year!

Sam Prentice's avatar

And Schwab and his WEF are too stupid to know how lucky they are that Trump is neutering the CCP. They actually thought China would clear the field for them so they would be in charge!!!!! China would smile at them, thank them for their help, and then put them up against a wall and shoot them. As Churchill tried to warn others about Hitler, you might get the crocodile to eat someone else first, but he will eventually circle around and set his sights on you!

steph_gray's avatar

I still think we need to kick out every β€œChinese student” out of every college in this country.

We all know they are required to spy on us and this wack-a-mole approach to catch them is both time consuming and costly plus you get a case of espionage in front of some wacky liberal judge and the outcome is in serious doubt.

Same with the Somalis. Send them back. Cost effective and it would free up a lot of houses for Americans to purchase.
