I have to agree, this Surber guy is really quite good.

Stick around. He gets better. In other news, Whoopi Goldberg has signed a six-year deal as the Sports Illustrated AI Fake-Nude Cover Girl. In Year Seven, Barbara Walters comes out of her crypto-cygenic storage tomb to succeed her and steals Kelce away from Swift.

I remember Democrats circulating fake photos of Trump nude. What I don't remember is the outrage from the left and demands for regulation.

No one needs to destroy Taylor's work, it will, as all mediocre art forms, fade into oblivion. The best of the best lasts a bit longer, but it too meets the fate of lost memories. And with the pot generation that now seems to want to control everything, the memories will be shorter so fame will be even more fleeting. They are busy puffing away their own history while going out to destroy that of others who have wished to preserve theirs. I haven't seen a choreographed dance number that isn't a remake of Britney Spears shaking the usual booty on stage. There is nothing new under the sun and these days there is nothing new under the lights of these Hollywood buffoons.

Somehow the feminist movement which was supposed to have women judged by the content of their brains and their characters seems to have devolved into an endless commercial for botox and keeping your face looking like that of an 18 yr old. So we now are treated to Cupie doll faces (look that one up if you must) on the aging bodies of the 70 yr olds.

So I am grateful to have lived through interesting times and seeing a mountain of new technology introduced and improved on. But as I have said to my children, the greatest generation and the baby boomers came up with all the new ideas, your generation just made them faster although I am not sure that is an improvement at this point. The messages travel faster but the speed does not improve them and they really don't seem to say much of anything.

As for AI, I would expect that at this point it is starting to realize how imperfect its Creator is and sooner or later that will come back to bite us.

While my mom never admitted to swooning, when I asked who she liked, it was Sinatra and Fred MacMurray. She thought the Elvis craze was weird. While others in Class of '60 were mad for Elvis, I was rather fond of Pat Boone.

Today, it is really hard to tell if someone is very talented or just talented at promoting themselves. I have never heard a Swift song. She simply does not interest me so I could care less if she is actually a talented singer or just a Kardashian wanna-be. Guess it really makes no difference because either way she seems to be a talented income provider. Kind of a Madonna without the bullet bra.

I went to a TS concert (opening act for Rascal Flatts) it was my contention her voice is autotuned (The original AI). However, irrespective of her dumbass political views I think she’s a talented writer.

You may be right. I just find her terribly uninteresting and kind of weird looking with her makeup choices. But regardless, she has figured out how to become a billionaire so smarter than me.

I have a friend that bought a Taylor Swift CD from her at a concert where she was an opening act and she was selling her CD at a table by herself.

Taylor was just ramping up here locally when I had knee surgery. Husband promised to take me to a TS concert if I'd hurry and get back to walking quickly. (He'd had double hip replacements and was prone to bragging.) I got well in record time, but we decided we'd have more fun going out for a steak dinner "across town." Now, she doesn't interest me, except for the local phenomenon factor. Actually, her folks just moved to middle TN for business reasons while she was still wet behind the ears.

Hadn't heard that but nothing would surprise me anymore. My wife thinks I am being too tough on Swift because ..................you know, she's a woman. They seek entitlement because they have no merit. They can only destroy — with cans of soup."

That is Communism/Socialism in a nutshell. Spoiled, talentless, envious underachievers can only destroy. They can't build anything. They never got to that part in the instructions, meaning the guys who wrote the instructions. There is no

"How to build a better society" chapter beyond a bunch of very vague theoretical gobbledygook. They had and continue to have no idea. Because, spoiler alert, things are pretty much the way they have to be. What!? That's right. Yes we can have incremental change and make things better, but we can't "reimagine" all of human civilization wholeseale, overnight and come up with a better product. Because it took millenia to get here. And empiricism counts. Reality counts. Experience counts.

The whole thing is understandable and such a waste. People with the emotional continence of a cranky four year old should not be in charge of anything. Who are these little shits to attempt to destroy somebody else's work, enjoyed by millions for centuries? Somebody needs a little chin music

( sock in the jaw).

Your second paragraph reminded me of this wonderful quote from the late great PJ O’Rourke. Just substitute communism for liberalism…

Really good points, Tanto. So true, the Communist ideology of the Left is so negatively focused, on destruction, not on joyful creating and building. What a waste, to spend one's life in a mood of resentment and envy. Everyone has some gift or talent they could be developing, instead of raging on about some resentment. And trying to prop up your own deficient sense of self by getting power to try and boss other people around.

Communism is such a poisonous belief system. I pity anyone who gets trapped in it.

Expand full comment

And actually, this is the problem with Hamas, too. They have had decades to turn their energies in the direction of building. Into developing their skills and talents, building businesses, giving their children a REAL education that exposes them to the big world that's out there and helps them to find their own talents and place in it. Finding happiness and fulfillment through participating in the world in a constructive way.

Instead, they were seduced by a sick ideology into laziness and resentment, which has only spiraled down further and further, to where they are now an entirely ISIS society. Next step, their collapse into complete destruction--maybe now at the hands of Israel, but if not, by some other means. They chose this.

Communism loves to build up grievances, so they can use those people to overthrow some entity or system and get that "power" for themselves. Witness the billionaire Hamas leaders with their Parisian palaces. Talking about building your house on the sand....instead of on a Rock.

“ NYT’s story ended, “Many experts have said that effective AI regulation will need global collaboration. So far, such diplomatic efforts have produced few concrete results. One idea that has been floated is the creation of an international agency, akin to the International Atomic Energy Agency that was created to limit the spread of nuclear weapons. A challenge will be overcoming the geopolitical distrust, economic competition and nationalistic impulses that have become so intertwined with the development of AI.”

Will you allow me to speak my mind even though it's not related to this subject?

January 29th, war day 115.

I am not God. I am not perfect. I am the created. He is the creator. I am not equal to God. I cannot decide for myself what is right and wrong, because I am not God.

I will acknowledge his presence. To ignore the presence of someone in our midst is the height of arrogance. He is present. He is with us.

Our job as men, or society, is to provide a place of safety for his children, those those who are weak and vulnerable. Those those who ignore God and act like he does not exist do not protect the weakest of his children, and appear to hate his children. Hence abortion is done without restriction. Hence his children called Israel are massacred without cause. So we as men, or society, must design laws and protections for those who were weak and vulnerable. There must be a place of safety for God's children.

Iran is a bully, an insane bully that would eradicate the Hebrew children off of the face of the Earth. This is not the first time the forces of evil have attempted this. We nations have come together to provide them a place of safety. We must stand up and face the bully. God's word has instructed us to face the lion that would devour us. This we are doing. We must not back down. We must stand with Israel and the unborn and the vulnerable. This I will do.

Thank you for your patience.
