Leonard Downie Jr., wrote in the Post on January 30, 2023, “Newsrooms that move beyond ‘objectivity’ can build trust.”

Moving beyond objectivity to build trust is a shift from telling the truth to crafting propaganda for the weak minded majority. The left is frantic that the weak-minded majority is waking up and moving their loyalty.

Most of what we are easily able to consume in media is a story based on layers of lies. The radical left is so deeply invested in this scheme that they are the ones who remain duped by the propaganda they concoct.

Please, let's NOT help them find their way out of their confusion. At this point, their failures are the most effective way for the right to expose their evil.

Expand full comment

It's not that people are waking up, it's that some lies are too preposterous to believe. For most people. Some donkey turds will continue to believe that Xiden is the most honest president in History and that his Chinese money pipeline is a lie. Some will continue to sleep walk, eyes closed treating the truth like a bad dream. Satan loves them.

Through all this Anti/Never Trump nonsense, people became so drunk with hate, they betrayed themselves. That’s what a Constitution is used for: guiding principals through the tough times. They ignored them. Now they are slowly sobering and realizing what a predicament we’re in. I think it was the Hamas Oct 7th attack that actually woke people up (and Biden’s pathetic playing of both sides).

I digress, The media needs to present facts as they are and keep opinion to the editorial page. The facts will lead people to the correct answer.

An aside about "Johnson being mentored by John Boehner". That came from an article by Axios, and I would take it with a huge grain of salt. "Mentored" and "muse" were Axios's words. The article itself was pretty brief, and although it's clear Johnson consulted with Boehner recently, I'm not at all sure that means what Axios is attempting to suggest--that Mike Johnson is politically aligned with Boehner.

Mike Johnson has a super-teeny majority, and a highly divided caucus. It may have been wise to get some input from a former Speaker, and he's not going to get much helpful advice from Kevin McCarthy on how to manage the Republican caucus.

There's no crime against listening to someone. I think Axios just wants to paint this in an unflattering way in order to divide us Republicans and make us angry at Mike Johnson--further undercutting him. Axios would love to see Mike Johnson fail.

We are in a fight for the survival of America, and we cannot afford to be snobby towards all RINOS, Haley Republicans, Boehner Republicans, and disaffected Democratic billionaires. You see Trump building bridges right now all over the place. The important thing right now is getting Trump safely over the finish line and into office. This requires a bit of pragmatism.

Axios's article did not have much meat to it, so definitely take it with a grain of salt, and pass on the indigestion Axios perhaps hoped to give us.

(One of you more elegant writers could improve my feeble food metaphors!)

Mark Twain wrote once that there would be no laughter in heaven because "The secret source of humor is sadness," meaning that everything we find amusing is – to the person at the other end of the joke – also something to be sad about. It has haunted me for years because there is a lot of truth in it. But God certainly seems to have a sense of humor in arranging journalists who are allergic to the truth they should be reporting, gay people to cheer on Palestinians who would throw them from rooftops, hypocrites of all sorts who don't seem capable of understanding how they expose their wrong-mindedness to everyone. Also, the left – which seems to be composed solely of people who reject God – have zero sense of humor. So if there is no laughter in heaven, it seems there will be none in hell either. Enjoy Don's writing while we are all here on earth!

My humble opinion. I truly believe that if all the republicans vigorously defended Trump from the start all these legal issues would never have gone this far. With a few exceptions they sat back and played a wait and see game hoping Trump would drop out. I understand that being a politician is a job with a paycheck they have to protect but it feels to me they put a paycheck ahead of our country ethics. I have little respect for some republicans and have 0 respect for democrats. They have brought our country to the brink of destruction of the constitution and the freedoms we fought and died for and it breaks my heart. I donate to the few republicans that I have most trust in and to Donald Trump but cannot bring myself to contribute to the party as a whole until I see changes.

Today's post and its comments section are a veritable cornucopia of wit, wisdom and insightful commentary. I wish with all my heart and soul that America was composed of citizens who exhibited even a small percentage of those qualities. Were that so, we would not be in the mess in which we are currently embroiled. I laugh (ruefully and only to keep from crying) at the pass in which our poor Mx. Buzbee finds herself. Hoist on her own petard is a phrase that never had greater applicability. She was hired because of her intersectionality points, then she hired others of her ilk, only to find that they were as incompetent as they were ideologially motivated. In other words, they were just like her!

Bezos likewise. He bought the Post in order to convince people he was not just a billionaire business boob, but a "right thinker," just like they were. He tried to burnish his woke credentials in order to distract from his otherwise entirely capitalistic modus operandi. At this point, it is safe to assume he is simply a business idiot savant lacking any skill in other areas of human endeavor. His selection of the surgically and chemically altered, exhibitionistic soulmate clearly shows his utter lack of anything like depth of insight, intellect or moral sense. She is the Charo to his Xavier Cugat. (Look that up; you'll have a laugh. Or am I being critical out of envy? You be the judge.) To return to a point more generaly applicable, I think the WP affair, as well as the democrat party apparatus are illustrative of the wisdom of the old aphorism to be arful what you wish for, because you might get it. The democrat-socialist party leadership wanted so dearly to "get Trump" that they tossed out our entire history of American principles of fair play and non-political jurisprudence; ";by all means necessary" was their guiding light. And so, they tried harder and harder to "get Trump" and with each attempt--many of which have been successful__they found themselves getiing further and further behind with the popular sentiment. With each blow they believed they struck against Trump, they saw public sentiment turn more and more in his favor! Yet they persist, believing that at some point they will be successful in banishing him and his deporable insurrectionist followers from their ideal polity and establishing their sexually degenerate utopia. They have ignored the first law of holes, viz., stop digging. It is possible that they may yet get their way, in which event they can gleefully stand atop the smoking ruins of a once-great country and proclaim "Victory." Just like Hitler did, when at last he reconciled himself to the eventual victory of The Allies over his "Thousand Year Reich," and spat out his contempt for the German people, enjoying the thought that their society would be utterly obliterated because they proved themselves unworthy of continuing to exist by betraying his ideas of world domination. Sadly, the rest of us will bear the consequences of their success, should they attain their goals. Yet, there may still be time, if enough citizens awaken from their torpor and take up the standard of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." As Aragorn said in rallying his remaining troops in what seemed to be a futile effort to resist Mordor and its overwhelming, ruthless power, "A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!" May that yet be our motto.

According to Downie Jr., objectivity can be a distortion of reality while one is pursuing truth. It's a perfect explanation of the MSM continually insisting that voters ignore their own eyes, ears and experience and accept the complete horse shit that passes for journalism: The economy is great; you just don't understand it. The vaccines are safe and effective, but they only work for me if YOU are vaccinated, and myocarditis in children is a symptom of climate change.
