The Dove model is the latest in a line of Stacy Abrams-like creatures that are repping products.

Normalizing the abnormal will ultimately destroy the left. Will we have a country left to salvage?

You beat me to it on the Stacy Abrams comparison. But she can console herself with the fact that she'll always be the original Brown Hippo ..

You hit on the real issue. Eventually, all the nonsense gives way to clearer thinking and more commonsense. But that doesn’t mean there is anything left worth saving afterward. Example; how many irreparably damaged lids will there be when the transition madness ends? Sometimes, things are not fixable. That goes for countries and societies too.

Which becomes problematic when the obese rep dies suddenly, which I believe has happened once recently.

Listen, if you are fat, you are susceptible to diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure, orthopedic issues, etc. These fat modeling folks are unhealthy and, after smoking, have lifestyles most associated with disease and premature death. Full stop. Tis the science my fat friends. If you have a medical issue driving your weight gain, get it treated. If you just eat too much, shut your mouth. I actually use some Dove products - I will be looking for a substitute. Their new spokesperson is neither beautiful to look at or listen to. And they as a nominal health and beauty product provider should not be promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.

More stupidity in the corporate marketing offices. Amazing.

Now in fairness - they told China they are pulling production out of China - not for any altruistic reason, but because China is literally disintegrating before our very eyes and they need to move their supply chains out to survive as a company.

As they pull out, the surveillance state desires will lessen, especially as in the US the SCOTUS pretty much says you cannot act as an agent of the federal government in the challenging of the rights citizens possess through the US Constitution.

No, Apple knew exactly what it was doing about a year ago when, at the request of the CCP it removed the AirDrop feature on only the iPhones in China, that the anti-CCP protesters had been using:

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/30/apple-limited-a-crucial-airdrop-function-in-china-just-weeks-before-protests.html

And this is far from the only time they have assisted China in this way.

Apple and Google are both monopolies that have been building in America the same surveillance and control infrastructure used in Communist China. Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri are also part of that infrastructure.

Expand full comment

Oh - I was misunderstood. Yes, they have certainly kowtowed to the CCP before. I was only noting that the environment in which Apple operates is now changing because China is falling. They will have less incentive to access the Chinese market. So less pressure to be authoritarian jerks.

It is a sad commentary that the Left champions obesity, instead of seeing it as an emotional and medical condition. Similarly, they champion sexual perversions. They justify and excuse criminal and violent acts. At the same time the Left and our government criminalize patriotism. These are all efforts to destroy the Judeo-Christian culture of the United States. They are attempting to normalize their own criminal activities at the expense of law abiding citizens. We must unite in our opposition to all these cultural obscenities.

On the positive side, 2500 bibles are bought every hour around the globe! That means we, the people of the earth are searching for and finding God.

Cosmetics were created millennia ago to make people look healthy. Red lips, red fingernails and smooth skin are signs of health. Great article. If I were going to pick a person to run my company, one I built, I would pick someone with the same knowledge base, work history, and life background and train them on the rest. Over the decades, there has been a big shift in how corporate board members have been picked. No longer do they pick people who started with nothing and built highly successful companies. They were revered as being wise and careful with business decisions. Today, it’s all about youth and getting the brightest person, who likely has never really built anything at all. Corporations today believe they must make split second decisions and embrace new but unproven technologies to stay ahead. Thats arrogant, but easy to do when you are wagering with other peoples money. In the case of people like Bob Iger, where was the board when he was making these arrogant and risky money decision? In all likelihood, they were silent because he had a direct hand in who was selected for the boards. And where were the major stock holders while he was doing arrogant and stupid things? They were silent, because they were his friends. When the system is stacked to create a quasi corporate dictatorship, it’s always the rest of us who suffer. Now, apply this same problem to the federal government and what do you have? People like Pete Butthead and Jennifer Granholm, two of the dumbest and most arrogant people to ever screw up a country. Choices in life matter and like the ancient one said in one of the Indy movies “choose wisely”. Good life advice. In the corporate world as well as the government sector, if you don’t care how much you are spending or where it came from, life for you is very easy.

Sad they paid for it with their lives too. Sometimes I think it's good that ignorant people lose their money due to arrogance and inexperience. But I hate that a lot of middle class people lose their retirement incomes because of it. The problem is they dont care. They want their taste and if it is at the expense of everyone else, then so be it. A lot of companies started hiring yes people and the incompetents know that they can mess up their area but they will be shifted to a new area in 18-3 yrs. So long as they can keep the lid on the mess that long, they will be long gone before it becomes an issue and it is the new guys problem.

The last several yrs there are 2 kinds of people in business, coffee slupers/meeting makers or people who know what they are doing. The people who know what they are doing dont ever get promoted because the area they are in will blow up right away if they leave. Hence, the incompetent ones fail up.

Expand full comment

We used to say that in the Army. You would see leaders all the time "screw up and move up". It's called getting rid of the problem...............but it doesn't go away. I have said for years the problem with the congress is that they have kicked the can down the road on real critical issues for so long that the problems are too big for them to take on now so they punt and defer and leave it for the next guy to fix. Remember when GW Bush tried to start a dialog on the coming crisis of SSI? They all but strung him up and that was the end of the issue. So here we are, watching our country go belly up because we cannot get honest, moral, ethical people into the congress to fix these things. Now we are left hoping Trump can be re-elected to break enough stuff so that congress critters feel comfortable enough to remake them without the corruption. Disheartening at best.

Bud Light was trying to do two things with Mr. Mulvaney. One, it was trying to become a "gay beer." (More and more Americans are identifying as gay or one of its variants, so it is a growing market.) Two, Mulvaney is an "influencer" with teens, so it was appealing to underage drinkers in hopes of keeping them once they turned 21. Of course, Anheuser-Busch couldn't publicly ADMIT to either one of these marketing strategies; the first would have killed them with their redneck base and the second is illegal. As so often happens, when you are too clever by half, you end up half-clever.

It is true that America is getting fat - just look around the next time you are at the grocery store. Do they think ads like this will make consumers feel better about their "fat" self? This doesn't make me want to associate with the Dove brand.
