I think you overestimate the communists. If they really had strategic chops, they wouldn’t be communists.

Expand full comment

Maybe. But one might ask; what world power is self-destructing at a rate never seen in history?

Expand full comment

Our government, which is currently "communist" in mindset and behavior.

Expand full comment

I think communism is a judgment from God. And we are being fed a dose of it right now for our falling away.

The very nature of communism is satanic; remember, satan wants to exalt himself above God and will not appear as a cankerous sore of a spirit (though that is his nature). Instead, satan paints communism as a beautiful utopia, and people without faith in God see it as such. The solution to communism is not war. It is not capitalism. It is not better legislation or politicians. It is faith in God. Until we get leaders who understand this and lead people to it, God's judgment will continue.

Expand full comment

I’m with you down to “until we get leaders” part. Where do we get such leaders?

I suggest we figure out what made the Founding Fathers such far-sighted, wise and courageous men and put our resources into identifying and developing such men (& women).

Won’t happen overnight, but unless that’s our mindset, it’ll never happen.

I think Trump’s concern for America is genuine. He’s got an extended family, which is a prerequisite for long-range thinking. He seems to be developing talent as we speak. We should pay attention to these. (Ex. Kash Patel, Devin Nunes, Trump’s sons, etc)

China is. Do you realize that by 2050 their population could be half of what it was in the beginning decade of this century? No country has ever experienced that much population decline. They have no real domestic consumer market. They don't have enough women under 40 to stop it. Their entire model rested on the US' Soviet containment policy surrounding global trade. We aren't patrolling the shipping lanes anymore. We are making bilateral trading agreements with the countries we wish to be trading with. China isn't one of those countries. Every jobs report from the US Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics almost always exceeds expectations, only to be revised downward (significantly) one or two months later. Typically, the story is buried somewhere deep in the financial section of business publications.

It's likely that the data provided to prepare the reports of manufacturing in Communist China is no less cooked/fabricated/faked, and will similarly be revised downward, but no one will ever know.

While the impact of the tariffs imposed by President Trump is welcome news, what remains troubling is that factories in China are still producing goods for western companies to sell in their respective domestic and foreign markets. It will be much better when Communist China's manufacturing sector is all but destroyed.

I don't know what Pelosi and the other Maoists promised that smug little slant for unleashing the Chinese virus on the rest of the world, but if it was more than just removing Trump from office, they're not able to deliver - they ought to start looking over their shoulders.

The other part of the Labor/Jobs report that no one is mentioning is that the jobs that are left after revision are going to the legal and illegal immigrants. Not American citizens. FJB expanded the H1B visa program with Congress's help. All the decent paying jobs in STEM and IT are going to contractors and most of them are Indian/Chinese. Hubby is getting ready to be outsourced yet again. This will make the 7-8th time in 12ish yrs. plus all the imported labor is driving all the wages down, blue and white collar both.

Happy Resurrection Day~

TJ, sorry to hear about your husbands(and your) situation. It’s brutal in not only corporate America, but for mid & small businesses. Greed has killed this country’s economic power. We made things that were meant to last and people made a good living. Once the MBA’s started running companies they really had no skin in the game. The more they could outsource work or import visa workers, the more Americans lost their jobs. Small & mid size companies either did the same or went out of business unless they manufactured something critical that nobody else could equal in quality/safety. Even the construction trades felt it. Less manufacturing, less work. Sure we had high rises & retails we worked on but those who knew history realized what makes a country strong. My wife pulled the pin February 2023 @ 63. She had enough of corporate America. Grainger, Discover Financial, and Wells Fargo. More Indian hires & 1/2 didn’t know their jobs. Too much stress & worry. We were fortunate that we saved & invested. We help our daughter out here and there. She makes more than either of us made but it’s all contract & one never knows when it runs out. I fear for the future generations and those still in the grind. I hope your husband finds a place that appreciates him & does not look to outsourcing or hiring visa workers to justify the bottom line. In the end it costs companies double when the remainder of American employees have to fix the mistakes made by the cheaper import labor.

Its just frustrating. They havent hired on merit for a lot longer than the last few years. They have decimated the IT field at least 8 times that I know of. I got out after being 'replaced by someone with half the knowledge' and being told to like it 6 times. If you want your severance, you have to train them. He is still in it but he is justifiably unhappy. Part of the problem is that Employees count in one bucket that goes against the company bottom line, where as contractors come out of a different bucket they get to expense off.

I fear for the future generations too. Some are happy with gig work but a lot of people just want to get in a job, do a good job and have stability. Xiden is trying to ruin the rest of the labor industry by taking CA's A5, might be AB5 and telling companies that all contractors are employees.

I will pray for your daughter that she finds a job she likes and can keep.

In the world of smoke and mirrors, China once was Houdini. There was a TV commercial back in the 70s with a customer going to a laundry and when asked how did they get the clothes so clean they proclaimed “Ancient Chinese Secret,” when in fact they had used Tide detergent. That is when I knew not to trust the Chinese. Later growing up all the Made in China products broke (now all the made in USA stuff if you can find it breaks). Later eating at Chinese restaurants here I have found most place lie when you ask them for no MSG. So when Covid appeared, when China claimed it came from the “Wet Lab,” I knew it was their original Ancient Chinese Secret. As to their economy, there numbers are so fake they make Joe Biden’s numbers seem real. FJB and F China. Thank you Don!

Expand full comment

The stuff that is 'made in the USA' is mostly made elsewhere and brought here, then assembled. That lets them get around the made in USA rules. The sad part is all the good brands, Craftsman, Harley-Davidson and there are many more. The brands were bought out by someone, ran into the ground, then banks bought them. The banks are now running them the rest of the way into the ground. Craftsman used to last, now the tools break sometimes on first use. Hubby and I were talking about a new brand we hadnt realized had been hit yet. We call it being Craftsmaned and never buy the brands again if we can.

Expand full comment

That’s a good term TJ, I preferred to use the term Bidened!

Expand full comment

Yeah but the decline of Craftsman happened better than 15 yrs ago, maybe closer to 20, way before Biden was VP or Pres.

Expand full comment

Interesting comment about Craftsman. In the ‘70s, craftsman meant something as did Sears. My father built his first home from a Sears & Roebuck kit in the very early 1950’s. It was a solid two story starter home. It sat on a full acre lot that he cleared by hand - not power tools. As I grew up and used Craftsman, I noticed their sockets started to crack with normal use. Yes, they replaced them but the hassle of time and trouble made it not worth the investment.

Sears wised up and stopped giving their tool manufacturing to the lowest bidder and they recovered somewhat. Then, it fell off the cliff and never returned. Neither did I return and now Sears is gone.

I was surprised - and disheartened - when Lowes substituted their Kobalt brand with Craftsman. I won’t buy Craftsman ever again. I won’t be fooled twice. I now see a return of the Kobalt brand to Lowes with Craftsman for some tools, but now I can’t trust either now.

A brand is a promise. Break it once, and you are finished.

We had a garage full of Craftsman, so I know what you are talking about. It really sucked. I dont remember the one we talking about a few days ago. When I remember or talk to hubby (he's driving in pouring rain), I'll let you know.

Its not the one from a few days ago but the Revere ware pots, the good ones are gone. I inherited a couple from my Aunt and wanted to fill the couple I am missing in. The reviews were enlightening. Everything from thin, easily scorched to not the same heavy bottomed pot from before. I dont know when they went cheap but I keep a look out in yard sales now for the old ones. Same here. Most of the brands I used for work started to be made more cheaply & less reliable. Craftsman, Carhartt, Red Wing boots, OshKosh bibs. Klein tools still were dependable. I gave my daughter a 17 yo Weber grill that still worked and bought a new one in 2016. It was still made well except the hood does not fit as tight as the previous one. Push button still fires up but when I browsed a few models 3-4 years ago they had lower end models made in China. Poor quality. I found out Weber-Stephan’s was bought by private equity I believe. Hopefully this one lasts long enough so my wife can cremate me in it.

Our original would have been 25 years old this year & cost us $450. That was a ton of money but my neighbor said his was 10 years old & still fired up when hitting the starter button, & he didn’t maintain anything he owned. Our replacement which we have now was purchased in 2016. It was $850 originally but Weber had sales on them because they were introducing several new colors & a new style. We opted for the copper/brown color. We got $125 off and a $125 rebate card from Ace Hardware so it set us back $600 in the end. I would still buy the higher end models as they are still well made but the entry model Spirit is meh.

After that it was a Toyota Celica, Nissan Maxima, & Nissan Murano. I estimate she put in $500 total for repairs on all 3, excluding normal maintenance. I on the other hand I could have bought a new car with the money I spent on repairs for the Jeep, Sable, Astro, & Z-34. The Envoy was one of the best & my MKX is doing fine.
