Never bet against Donald Trump is still the rule too many “experts” refuse to learn. The foreign-policy priesthood saw an MOU and screamed appeasement. Trump saw leverage. Iran saw restraint and mistook it for weakness. That was the trap. Once Tehran resumed aggression around Hormuz, Trump could say: we offered terms, they broke them, now the strait stays open under American power. That is not weakness. That is deterrence with paperwork. The old Iran hands wanted another seminar, another panel, another mournful essay about complexity. Trump gave them something simpler: behave or get hit. The mullahs chose FAFO diplomacy. Now the world sees who wants commerce and who wants chaos. Peace through strength only works when the strength is real, visible, and willing to fire.
I can't tell you the friends who have called or emailed me with, "Well, Trump's really stepped in it this time!"
Having now nearly filled my SECOND "Trump was right" coin jar, I reminded all of them - every time you - and I - have decided that Trump had lost his mind, when the cuttin' was done, he's been right and we've been wrong. He has access to information that we don't have, and so far his judgment has proven not only right but brilliant. I'm going to sit over here and try to stay out of the way.
“Trump gave them something simpler: behave or get hit.”
This is simply discipline and accountability, something that’s been erased from our culture with the left invasion of America. There are no more participation trophies for Iran.
He's treating them like the petulant brats they are. And he's now spanking them for throwing a little tantrum in the store because they didn't get the 72-virgin playset on sale. :)
And it’s not just past US presidents who have given Iran all the leeway, it is EVERY world leader! 47 years of doing absolutely nothing because it was just too inconvenient and required not caring what the rest of the media cucks and other leaders thought about you. That is what makes Trump so special, the steel nuts he has.
I will admit, there are times I have become frustrated with the pace of “getting things done,” but I take a deep breath and remind myself just how RELENTLESS the man is. I only hope he get it done before his time is up.
If there was a loyal opposition party in this nation dedicated to America’s success and victory in any foreign policy then DJT didn’t have to start and stop the offensive against the mullahs. But there is no loyal opposition here, only disloyal Marxists masquerading as dumocrats who are dedicated only to destroying Trump’s presidency and this country. Why on earth would anyone want a nuclear armed Iran?! If you think gasoline is too expensive now, what would it cost if the Ayatollah possessed a nuke! Just saying.
I believe the problem we have, MLR, is that we think rationally using reason, but we make the critical mistake of believing and expecting that others do as well. The jackals and worthless drones who oppose us have no reason or rationality. All they have is their mindless lust for power and phenomenal hatred for Trump, all of us who support him, and America in toto.
I quote the late B.T. Eason , " the ability to reason cannot be learned ; you either have it or you don't " . The conversation was geared to machinists , millwrights , plumbers , electricians , mechanics , etc . Apparently applies to all .
I think only Iran should have to pay the "toll". They started this war 47 years ago and they should pay for everything they have done. 20% of their GDP for the next 47 years seems reasonable to me.
America is keeping the Strait open for many countries who haven’t done much to protect their interests. We should be done paying for everyone else’s needs and comfort. The top five allied consumers of Iran oil may get gate passes when they have ships and armed military there. Otherwise, we have a “security fee”.
Sounds good except that China can't even afford their discounted crude. All the tankers Iran rushed out as soon as the MOU was signed are sitting untouched in China's port.
Never verified but often attributed to Churchill: “You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they've tried everything else." Trump was our last chance. He’s doing all the right things.
07/14/26: Good quote. Even better, the hundreds of Brits on YouTube, after coming to the USA for the World Cup, practically screaming and in tears that they don’t want to go home.
Imagine the trauma! They had actually believed what the IRGC-BBC had drummed into their heads.
The definition of unmitigated gall: A country that can’t keep a Prime Minister in office for longer than it takes to bake a Pop-Tart, pretending to be a first-world country and the sensible alternative to America.
And we keep seeing videos from Great Britain regular citizens who are being arrested for something they said or walking a dog what the hell is happening?
07/14/26: The stench of cadavers emanating from the Black KKK-BBC can actually be detected merely by watching cable TV.
And should you be so unfortunate as to live in the UK, you MUST PAY a TV "license" so that you can be incessantly lied to.
Of course, here in America, we have this quirk too, in the form of Personal Seat Licenses --- a MUST PAY in exchange for NFL season tickets. "Why the analogy?" Because it's impossible to overlook the BBC-plagiarized "End Racism" Brave New World slogans in the end zones.
I have sensed the same but also that it’s a test to see if our country will see the hand of God in it and turn to Him in repentance. Not so sure that we are passing that test…
That comment by some mental midget I never heard of was breathtaking in its absurdity. The only response someone like that deserves is a middle finger-ed salute.
Our cartoons were amazing. I think all of them were great, but I think Bugs was the best. "We better get out of here, these guys are way too smart for us! What a maroon!"
07/14/26: He blows me away, he's so competent (ditto V, R & DeS). OH for a Secretary of War like him when I was in the (peacetime) army. It would have made SO much more sense.
07/14/26: Thank you. I left the army thinking, "OK, thank God that's over with. Things will improve." 25 years later, it finally dawned in my thick skull that the Army had treated me far better than any of the civilian companies I worked for!
The present generation of military leaders will have to have left the stage before that happens.
I like the idea of him being a possible candidate, bc he has Trump’s chutzpah. Seems to be good evidence that he’s a true leader, and not just a Trump follower.
Iran is the worlds primary terrorist sponsor. It's not a secret. IF Iran can be neutered. The entire world will reap a huge benefit economically, politically and morally. If Obama was America's Chamberlain. Trump is America's Churchill. It's past time for Iran to be forced to surrender its sponsorship of worldwide terror or at least be denied the capability to extend it. Trump has the balls to do it. Will We the People support him?
I think the only way we deal with these mullahs and IRGC folks is to kill such a significant number of them, if not all of them, so as to have the Iranian true believers question if their death March for all so the 12th Imam can rise out of the hole he is in somewhere is worth it or if it even believable.
Iran’s government and military is a death culture. Let’s make that happen for them, except they are the ones who are dead. And they have no oil.
I keep hoping that, because one of things I like best about the Trump admin is the lack of leaks. But I would think the IRGC would be making a fuss if that were happening. I hope I'm wrong.
What is up with Larry Kudlow? He seems to have lost his perspective on the war--yesterday he said everything is going wrong, when in fact we are where Trump was always leading us: completely discredit Iran's regime, then pound it to hell. He was all red yesterday while Newt Gingrich was trying to explain to him what was really going on. Today's article by VDH hit all the nails on the head about US asserting our will all over the world against all adversaries.
Kudlow has never been a rock-solid conservative. He's a "free trader" - I was surprised that Trump had him in his 1st admin. Kudlow was also pro-illegal immigration. I think he's a puppet for the Chamber of Commerce.
Kudlow is a hopeless libertarian. Back in the 90s, I saw Kudlow and Steve Moore in Pittsburgh at a seminar hosted by CATO. That was during Clinton's terms and they were both free-trading NAFTA supporters and full-fledged libertarians. And back then, libertarians bought into the foolish notion that the people illegally entering our country were only coming to seek a better way of life for their families. Many of us have learned since then about the invading hordes.
Maybe, maybe not. Kudlow gets a heck of a lot more right than he gets wrong. I don’t care if he’s Libertarian or vegetarian, he’s clearly on our side and has been a huge supporter of Trump. And frankly, we could use a heck of a lot more libertarians and a lot less Democrats today.
Nothing wrong with Libertarians, REAL Libertarians. Kudlow is a bridge between a libertarian and someone identifying with conservative principles. After all, much of conservatism has its origin in Libertarian principles. While I don’t agree with all things Libertarian, they are far better than liberals by a mile.
"people illegally entering our country were only coming to seek a better way of life for their families" - that's exactly what Larry said on that Saturday radio program & none of his listeners bought it.
Still loved it watching Kudlow wince when was paired w Kramer in the Mad Money TV show…..Kudlow was reduced to being on TV with crazy Used Car guy Cal Worthington, or Art Grindel from Houston.
one of the first things I remember about Kudlow was on Kudlow and Cramer some years back, when he laid out with some charts "showing" how the subprime mortgage thing would never be a problem because there was not enough money involved! Good call Larry. Usually his current show on Fox News is one the best for covering the essential news of the day.
Larry has intelligent guests on his radio & TV programs - I don't watch TV, but listen to him on the radio. Before the 2016 election, I recall listening to Larry while driving on a Saturday - he was telling his audience how wonderful the immigrants were, how much they contributed to the community & the economy, but never mentioning the costs to the USA & Americans. He took some calls & was shocked that every single caller didn't agree with his views on the illegals. He got all huffy because he couldn't con his listeners.
I read the VDH piece, and as usual it's good; the only quarrel I have relates to the permanence of China's shortage of domestic oil and gas. For some time I have wondered if China, instead of moving on Taiwan, might be plotting to take over a large chunk of Russian-held Siberia, at a time when Russia is weak and its population war-weary. For China such a move would make far more sense than a risky offshore venture towards Taiwan, because it would restore China's former ownership of those lands while boosting its domestic energy assets.
You and I think similarly. This would make sense……..from a Chinese perspective, but China will not do anything if it has measurable risk. Russia would never allow its property to be taken, no matter how many people it would kill. These are two countries who do not think rationally about human life and “the consequences” of actions. Given Russias history, Putin might be on borrowed time because the major players in Russia are losing profits so he is weakened. Don’t kid yourself, Putin would use nukes if faced with losing part of his land to China. So China might just attempt to make him dead and try to negotiate with the oligarchs who run the economy. Dangerous times.
I didn't want to make my speculation too long; but I should have added that China's acquisition might be facilitated by a financial concession of some kind, because there's no doubt that Russia is hard-up, and an injection of Chinese cash could postpone the inevitable for ole' Putin.
There's also the historical fact that at one time some of those vast territories were Chinese-owned, something I'm sure Putin is aware of.
And as far as Russia's nukes -- they seem to have been useful for bragging and menacing, but it's legitimate to wonder how well they would work in practice. Such weapons need constant maintenance, something that Russians are not good at, and then there's the corruption factor; a lot of the military elite has become rich by stealing the funds for such things.
All true, but remember Putin golden rule: If Russia once owns it, it will always be Russian property. The Russians are no better or worse off than they have ever been post USSR. But the oligarchs are getting tired of losing their portion of the wealth now and that doesn’t bode well for Putin. Anyone……anyone can be bought in Russia, and that includes military as well as those close to Putin. It isn’t personal with them, just business.
If attempted, the Chinese will underestimate the rigors involved in taking on the Great Bear. See Napoleon , Hitler , etc. As far as winter weather goes the Eastern Front pales in comparison to Siberian weather .
07/14/26: If this happens, Russia goes nuclear --- and then finds out that nothing in their silos work due to lack of maintenance and wholesale theft of whatever was in them to begin with --- ala 2022, when Russia invaded the Ukraine and then belatedly found out that their supply sergeants had grabbed the money intended for upgrading and maintaining tank treads and jeep tires, etc.
Russian general: "How did the launches go?"
Russian lackey: "Um... er... sir, according to our radar, we now have 16,089 empty vodka bottles, airborne, on their way to the targets."
Just remember that the "Republicans" arguing against Trump are the ones who've been tossed out of the Party. Their basic idea was similar to that of the Democrats: make a lot of money by shafting the people who voted for you.
They no longer have a perch to play "Polly want a payoff." So they just hate. And the Dem-controlled media play up to them. In some cases they are directly getting payoffs. And it's so nice to think that Tillis and Cassidy and Cornyn will join that crew at the end of the year.
The "university professor experts" are cucks who sit around doing nothing but think they can rule the world (i.e. Frum, Pence, Cassidy). Ten rounds of breaking an MOU is more than enough to bomb them until they fall. Never go back to the table. Congress will still be the roadblock though. Meanwhile, take the Strait and Karg Island and get the oil flowing again.
Let the UAE run it. For sure. They’re on the Strait and can effectively run it. Now that Iran has bombed all their Gulf neighbors, they don’t have many friends left. Hopefully the entire Gulf region will support & protect the Strait and snub the terrorist Shia Iran.
I don’t know these Hormoosian countries well enough to which ones have the resolve, the $$, and especially the manpower to defend against the Iranian Shia Muslim relatives, and Especially who has ties to the all so Proper evil bankers & conflict masters of England & France, to handle the job.
For some odd reason, US Treasure Secretary Bessent found IRGC actors had stashed millions €€§££ in bank accounts in British Canadian/EU banks all over the Caribbean. Canadian/British/French/EU facilitation of Money laundering, Narcos, terrorist funding, sex slave trade, nuclear bomb extremely precision engineered equipment, illegal immigrants flows to destabilise nations…with all of these World and EU Sanctions and more sanctions……how could all the Nations not “FIND” these cash flows??? Qui bono?
💯Matt. Do you listen to Promethean Action? It is totally gamed by The City of London banking and Lloyds insurance. Benefits from chaos. There’s no money in peace, so create a murderous terror threat & unleash it on the world.
Not disagreeing with your comment but just want to point out that this is what the UN was supposed to do. Another failure on their mission. Time for the UN to be gone, replaced with a much smaller, more narrowly focused charter.
I am usually a very peaceful person but time for being nice and diplomatic is over.
I think it’s time to show the Iranian people what life is like without electricity. Funny thing about electricity, it makes life easy. Take away their “easy”. Make it damn hard to be an Iranian.
If they want to act like stone-age cavemen, then let’s grant their wishes. Cavemen didn’t need electricity, oil, or the wheel to survive. I’m sure the Iranians can do it.
And I don’t care about the Iranian citizens anymore. They have had 47 years to overthrow the government their parents foisted on them.
Start with Tehran. Take out every electrical distribution point on their grid. Then hit every public utility they have. Water, waste-water, destroy their airports completely. Level them.
MAKE FAFO HURT so bad they can’t overcome it. If they attempt to rebuild, hit them twice as hard. Show them we don’t need boots on the ground to wipe them off the face of the earth.
Maybe after the next 50 years with no electricity, no fresh water, no conveniences, they will build themselves back into a nation instead of a terrorist flop house.
May GOD Almighty continue to bless and protect President Donald J. Trump and these United States of America.
We have seized Kharg island without boots. All they can do is store oil or the few tankers they have that can't go anywhere. If you block the strait you've seized Kharg island. We could easily take out their water and power but that would impact the citizens too much. Noone knows what the Trumpsters next moves are. Chances are greater than zero that the IRGC won't sleep at night wondering too. The Donald has the winning hand here.
Marty, I don't think we need to take Kharg; just not allow one damned drop of oil to ship from it-same result. Iran and their various shadow governments have no money, except for whatever China and our "friends" in Europe secretly funnel to them. Why suffer an inevitable loss of soldiers and maybe sailors when the blockade will do it without that loss?

Good phrase--"deterrence with paperwork".
“Trump gave them something simpler: behave or get hit.”
This is simply discipline and accountability, something that’s been erased from our culture with the left invasion of America. There are no more participation trophies for Iran.
Those of us who grew up in the 50s can understand Trump better. Behave or get hit.
He's treating them like the petulant brats they are. And he's now spanking them for throwing a little tantrum in the store because they didn't get the 72-virgin playset on sale. :)
Haha! Yes, they need an old fashioned spanking despite current parenting guidance that rejects that process. We need to Make Spanking Great Again.
07/14/26: Richard Luthmann is the cure for…
Michael Rubin of the American Enterprise Institute, who has a head that belongs inside a pinball machine.
As for “Jonah Goldberg wrote…” Who cares?
David Frum and Hunter Biden, separated at birth.
And bringing up the rear is the plugged nickle, Mike Pence.
At least used CARS have some trade-in value.
--- In other news, Graham Platner has received the seed money for an oyster-farming empire in the Strait of Hormuz.
Those who doubted him will NEVER reassess how they came to that conclusion. Their TDS infected brains will not allow it.
They will just babble on while President Trump gets the job done.
I will admit, there are times I have become frustrated with the pace of “getting things done,” but I take a deep breath and remind myself just how RELENTLESS the man is. I only hope he get it done before his time is up.

To make matters worse, it's hard to get life experience playing world of Warcraft in momma's basement, even at the age of 45.

Yes!
I’m lovin it.
Iran has a GDP? I thought everything was gone. My favorite president reminds us of that at every opportunity
Right now their gross domestic product is goat and camel dung.
Jeremy R makes an excellent point. We could also take 20% of their oil production in addtion to security fees.
The world’s free lunch is over. Let Bessent determine the strait fees.
PDJT has just announced a plan for them to invest here. Everybody wins.
No world leader since Churchill has been so steadfast.

Roger Goodell swallowed all the blue Kool Aid. But it's the fans who are choking.
I sense PDJT was a Devine intervention to try and bring the U.S.A. back to our founders dreams of freedom earned by the grace of GOD. jmho
Have often thought that myself. The Divine Interventions - Providence - seemed to have been with us from the start, including Geo. Washington.
I have sensed the same but also that it’s a test to see if our country will see the hand of God in it and turn to Him in repentance. Not so sure that we are passing that test…

Ay Kweek Draw!
“The MOU showed once again, Trump is crazy like a fox.“
Nailed it, Don
And one more thing:
Can we add to the conversation of who best can carry forth the DJT vision, Pete Hegseth?
Got him on my bingo card along with Vance, Rubio & DeSantis.
07/14/26: He blows me away, he's so competent (ditto V, R & DeS). OH for a Secretary of War like him when I was in the (peacetime) army. It would have made SO much more sense.

TYFYS, sir.
07/14/26: Thank you. I left the army thinking, "OK, thank God that's over with. Things will improve." 25 years later, it finally dawned in my thick skull that the Army had treated me far better than any of the civilian companies I worked for!

Chamberlain was wrong, but not malevolent. Obama was actively working with the enemy.
Lots of Chinese money flooding our election this year for the express purpose of thwarting Trump
What else is new?
The brazenness, it's like they don't care if we know. Like a hail Mary pass in the closing seconds of a football game.
Real football, not sucker err soccer.

Iran’s government and military is a death culture. Let’s make that happen for them, except they are the ones who are dead. And they have no oil.
I'm still amazed that we and the IDF aren't in there picking them off covertly.
How do you know they are not? If you knew, they would not be covert.
I keep hoping that, because one of things I like best about the Trump admin is the lack of leaks. But I would think the IRGC would be making a fuss if that were happening. I hope I'm wrong.
Seems to me that IRGC would not want to admit that they can be gotten to, and would hush it all up.
They do seem to like their big public funerals though.
🎯
Is the Imam down the hole with Punxsutawney Phil. Iran will have to wait until Groundhogs Day to come out.
07/14/26: Imamhog Day.
And when they do come out, I bet they see a big shadow over their heads!
A shadow roughly 159'4" long by 185' wide with 8 engines and a shitload of smaller shadows descending from it just for them.

Then we amp up Greenland !

Thank you, Dan!
07/14/26: He is one hell of a good writer.
Don Surber and VDH are the best
07/14/26: They're right up there. A wise and elderly Irish man me told in the 1990s, "Don't make comparisons." He was right.
07/14/26: There comes a time when being on TV finally passes the point of no return.
Witness Dan Rather self-destructing 2004-05; and then, in the fatal aftermath of his arrogant swath, trying to get anyone to listen to him again.
We need people who represent us, the people.
"Polly want a payoff." Brilliant.
Well, so far they have because too many Americans allow it by not taking them to task. Trump changed that dynamic.
Seems as if Bessent has a keen sense for cash stashes like a narco k-9 and I am happy he works for PDJT and the taxpayers.
Maybe you need to look at who was getting part of the Money for an answer.
07/14/26: Why stop the bribes and the kickbacks?
I think you meant “Quo Vadis?”
Not disagreeing with your comment but just want to point out that this is what the UN was supposed to do. Another failure on their mission. Time for the UN to be gone, replaced with a much smaller, more narrowly focused charter.
Trump created the Board of Peace in the Region….corrupt UN will wither.
I don’t think so. Have you seen one program created by the feds that ever ended or went away, excluding the ones the congress made worse?
And NOT in the US!
I've never paid this piece of paper any attention.
Actions speak louder than words. And just like clockwork they mess up and DJT kicks ass.
Rinse, lather, repeat.......
The Trump Doctrine: FAFO
KABOOM 🤯 💥
APS
Time for PDJT to seize Kharg Island, too. Enough is enough. End this regime’s source of funding once and for all.
Chyna is starved for the Iranian cheap oil….
