The amazing thing is the fact that upwards of 50% of the population still support the imbecile-in-chief! Who are these people? Are there that many government workers? That many Americans on the government teat? First thing Trump should do in his second term is do a Javier Milei and slash the massively bloated leviathan of bureaucrats by 50%.

We can accomplish that better, and catch the Leftist NGOs as well, by revising the Tax code to change 501 type filers.

Why for heavens sake should universities with billions in endowments accumulate income tax free? As well, NGOs with such status allow creeps like Soros, Reid Hoffman and the like to enjoy tax benefits for their donations. Bonus would be recasting the Clinton "Global" Initiative into a tax paying entity, rather than a grifters paradise.

Law fair has always been a part of politics but it's more noticeable when we're close to a tipping point like we are now. Since Republicans mostly think like men they artist quick to adapt as our beloved opposition party who think like females. It's a necessary part of the formula, and nothing has more deadly than a female who's lost her mind, but what I find interesting is like men the Republicans are slow to adapt to change but once they get it, they get it.

Who are these people?

They could be diehard D's: 'My family has always voted Democrat.'

They could be watching The View or TikTok for their news.

Or they could be living in a bubble.

In Don's book, TRUMP THE PRESS, he wrote: 'Many pundits knew not what was going on outside their small circle of friends. They reminded me of what New Yorker movie critic Pauline Kael told the Modern Language Association on December 28, 1972. “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who voted for Nixon. Where they are I don’t know. They’re outside my ken. But sometimes when I’m in a theater, I can feel them,” Kael said.'

https://www.amazon.com/Trump-Press-Surbers-pundits-Republican/dp/1533360197

The 2010 elections resulted in Republican control of 26 state legislatures and 29 of the 50 state governorships. The following day, the writer Nora Ephron (“When Harry Met Sally”) said in an interview: “I watched the elections returns come in, the endless babble about how angry people were, and I have such a sense of how insulated we are in New York City from whatever is going on out there.”

Expand full comment
wvminutewoman's avatar

As a person who has a few "rogue" family members who are somewhat prominent members of the main stream media and, having socialized with them and many of their peers over the years, I can vouch for Pauline Kael's statement as being true. Although quite intelligent, they have few critical thinking skills and only a rudimentary knowledge of history. They want to see themselves as compassionate members of society when, in reality, they are actually ruled by the need to feel good and to be accepted by following their peers. They would be appalled to be called 'yellow dog Democrats' or 'Mr. Potato Head' voters but that is what they are - Liberal Democrats who wear blinders.

They AVOID communication--I think something in them senses any conversation could pull the rug out from under their belief system.

And no, they're not avoiding communication because I've been too heavy-handed in the past. There IS NO past--even years ago in the beginning they avoided discussion with people who weren't clearly part of their tribe. The only conversations we have is where I'm listening to their point of view and ask questions, and I do earnestly do this, because I want to understand where they're coming from. (I admit, some of my questions are a "Socratic" method of having them trap themselves in their own reasoning.) But there is zero reciprocity, just flat dismissal.

I think the Left "preps them" for what to do when they encounter someone with views outside of their group--they immediately think the person on the Right is not worth listening to--either dumb, or "misinformed and drenched in conspiracy theories", or just a bad/mean/racist person.

This is how a cult operates, by the way. Anything "from the outside world" is a threat, so avoid it.

Totally true. Canada, for the last 50 years at least, hasn't innovated and produced little that people know anything about or is used on a daily basis to improve lives. What this country has done is build up goverment employees, increase the population by immigration, and expand government programs (entitlements) that a majority of voters will never want to give up. That's not innovative or wealth creating. Canada is a left-of-centre country and this is what you get. Innovation is building up government. The Liberal Party of Canada (Justin's party and his father's) are masters at this. We are now supposed to get a national daycare program, a national school lunch program, and a national dental program. Voters don't want to give up these freebies. Who pays for this???

But I think Hillary will not sit by idly if Michelle Obama is put forward-- she WANTS that Presidency, and it would be a catfight. In fact, if they pass on Hillary, the Democrats might be making another colossal mistake. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

I would not put it past Hillary to throw "loyalty" out the window, and go after the Dems viciously--this is Hillary's last chance, and she would have no reason to "play well" with the Democrats anymore in hope of still pulling off a path to the Presidency. That would be a splendid late summer/early fall disaster drama to enjoy unfolding! But Hillary might have met her match-- the Marxists might give her a dose of her own Arkanicide.
