I always look forward to starting my Saturday with your Highlights of the Week. You just can't make this stuff up. What have we done to our poor country.

"ITEM 18 ... 'Jimmy Garoppolo offered "free sex for life" by Las Vegas brothel after joining Raiders.' ”

"Deshaun Watson immediately demanded the Browns trade him to the Raiders."

FINALLY, the only reason why Jon Gruden regrets having been fired as the Raiders head coach (2021).

The owner of the brothel, by the way, happens to be Robert Kraft (New England Patriots owner. Ask for the chow mein special next time you drop in).

P.S. The Browns IMMEDIATELY traded Watson to the Raiders.

Aw shucks, Don! You’re too modest. You may (or may not) be an old codger, but you sure know how to fish for compliments! Here’s my truth: you have a gazillion faithful & happy followers; probably a million binders (sic!) full of deep, original, witty & important themes for the daily column; & a sharp eye for the significant, ridiculous & entertaining for your Highlights of the Week. And that’s why you are our treasure and we love you and thank God.

My fishing worked!

SO many things to comment on, but I will stick with just one; The article says:

ITEM 19: The Hill reported, “Why millions of people could lose Medicaid next month.”

Spoiler alert: Because they are ineligible.

I say:

If they stopped paying social security disability payments, Medicaid and cash payments to the junkies, homeless and street urchins, homelessness would end in a day, but that takes courage. Instead, you have these 'for sale' politicians who come up with ideas like 'Reparations' to people who have never worked a day in their lives. Invoke term limits and ideas like this would never happen

Expand full comment

Reparations is the gift that keeps on giving. It's the Publisher's Clearing House of political strategies. "You may just win. Keep voting our way to find out."

Expand full comment

I'm all for reparations. As long as the Democrats pay for it as it's their fault.

Every govt. "program" is about 1) buying votes, and/or 2) putting money in the politicians' pockets (through some kind of hidden money laundering scheme).

Term limits for sure! AND, my proposal has always been: make each state pay it's Senators' and Congressmen's salaries and benefits. Don't let them play with that much money and self-control over their salaries/benefits in Washington, far from their voters.

Rev., for 20+ years I have advocated laws allowing a candidate to spend no more than the paid salary of the term for ads.You can guess how that lands with pols.

Expand full comment

Term limits means giving more power to the permanent bureaucracy & even less accountability. Is that really want you want? There has to be another way.

Expand full comment

Instead of term limits, take away their retirement.

Also cut the bribery sham of campaign contributions.

Expand full comment

Term limits is just part of the solution. All of the ABC agencies need to be cleaned out, and put a cap on the number of persons who can be employed in any agency. Then move most of them out of DC (to various locations around the country - and require that some MUST be in the south, southwest, etc.), so that they're not all "inside the beltway" - both geographically and mentally.

Expand full comment

There are term limits in California. Does nothing.

Expand full comment

For who ?? Certainly not anyone at the state or federal level.

Expand full comment

....and what do, you propose--or are you the typical liberal who just wants to complain??

Expand full comment

I always been dubious about term limits, too, Neera, for the same reasons. If they're good, like Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, Kennedy from Louisiana, etc, I'd be happy to have them serve 25+years.

Like RevMikeyMac says, the better solution is to torch the Deep State bureaucracy. Close whole agencies, and drastically cut the budgets and employee count at all the others. Purge, purge, purge.

And we do have the tools we need to purge state party apparatuses (meaning, get all the RINOS out of the state party structures), but we aren't using those powers enough right now. Like with school boards, we have to purge the state parties.

Tony you buried the nail in one swing. This is and has been a problem way too long with a solution on the table no pol dares touch.Maybe at last?

Expand full comment

Interesting comment "Maybe at last." Someone like the West Virginia whore Joe Manchin is all too ready to jump his liberal ship come election time. I have seen several liberal members of congress all say they have 'seen the light.' All it is, is garbage and posturing. Conservatives have a genuine chance to right the ship once again because now the stakes are really high. May God help Holy America.

"It is blackface. We should call it out." I really don't care about drag shows in appropriate venues, but this is completely true and I'm glad someone is saying it. It is "womanface" (as is the portrayal of women by some men who call themselves "transwomen," Dylan Mulvaney being a great example).

"The plan is to put everything on the electric grid and then shut down the grid." Yup. Or if you engage in "wrong think," no heat for you.

"That story stinks so bad that I can Smollett in Poca, West Virginia." I always assume these things are hoaxes until further notice. Because that's how the left works these days.

"FINALLY, live from Riyadh, it’s Saturday night!" Is their Kamala Harris a dude in a pants suit? Hey, if so, he pulls it off better than Richard/Rachel Levine.

20) The government strives to achieve single points of failure for all industries.

Expand full comment

We have a single point of failure for this country. It is progressivism, nèe regressivism. Freedom! What has become of this country? It has been portrayed as a snake pit by evil people and now the snakes are winning. Can the American people let this happen?

"Democrats control the Senate. That Republican Congress is as real as Corn Pop and Biden’s life as a trucker."

How about Wilhelm's entire adult life? Fiction from start to whenever it's over.

"It is blackface. We should call it out."

True. Wherever else the pushback may be happening, I'm proud that Texas seems to be leading it.

"...but they love drag queens performing for kids because it promotes transsexuality."

Probably, but what I think they love most about it that it's a thumb in the eye to gender, and human sexuality as created by, and intended by God.

"Black player punches out white player after a 13-point loss. Add a hate crimes charge to her rap sheet."

University of Memphis - what a shock...NOT.

Item 28: We did?

Item 29: Who DIDN'T see that coming?

"Without racism — real or imaginary — there is no reason for an NAACP."

Truth.

It's funny because it's true!

Thank you, Don! My Saturday-morning routine just isn't complete without this digest!

#6 - I’m really confused that state prison authorities are unable to obtain drugs used in executions. Aren't they the same compounds used by the enthusiastic euthanasia crowd? Why don't they just call up one of the many clinics in Canada doing that work? Or the Netherlands or Switzerland.

25 - I would have thought the Hollywood liberals would be all for the mansion tax and be buying extra homes just to continue supporting large government and the homeless. These generous souls are probably already giving large sums to homeless charities, but being a Hollywood

Liberal means you can never give too much.

This story shocks me and makes me lose faith in the good heartedness of the Hollywood liberal.

#1When you are in a checkout line at a grocery store , note this: ahead of you is a woman. Children, all wearing masks. Woman has short, blonde hair all have white, pasty skin. Buying Tofu, beyond meat, kale, they get into the plugin hybrid SUV.

Guess what percentage of crazy they are?
