Best BBQ I’ve had was in Driftwood. The Salt Lick, and that was something to see on Somebody Feed Phil. I could taste it thru the screen. Here in North Carolina they have pork with the vinegar. Not too fond of it so I bring my own thick & spicy sauce with. It’s sacrilege to people here but I’ve told them I gotta do what I gotta do. Did find a very good Q place here called the Smoke Pit which is like Salt Lick, pulled pork, brisket, chicken, sausage, etc.

Obama is going to intervene? That’s all he’s been doing since he left office. He is the cancer rotting the country. And since when is it normal for an ex-President to intervene in a current President’s reelection? Since the current President isn’t actually running the show, that’s when. Very revealing. Too bad Joe can’t take a ride on the imaginary train he says he rode over the FSK bridge right now- into the harbor. Save the country a lot of aggravation.
Tanto, thank you. Obama is another in a long line of puppets whose strings are being pulled by nameless faceless individuals hellbent on destroying our country. With a dumbed down populace, no one questioned anything about this guy other than he was well spoken (College records? Birth Certificate? Jeremiah Wright? Bill Ayres?) He is just being sent out there to add his voice to the background noise as the deep state prepares to rig the election again. The "polls" mare tightening up is another smokescreen to get the gullible electorate to swallow the pill that an elderly degenerate demented scumbag fool is going to be installed again in the Oval Office (no not Clinton or Obama).
Yeah- the polls are suddenly changing. I noticed it as well. It’s transparent manipulation. Joe’s mumblestumbling back for another term riding the Deep State express.
It’s not as if the potential was unanticipated. There’s a piece circulating that describes the 1970’s decision-making for the bridge: the DoT chose bridge over tunnel explicitly because of cost. Tunnel was the better operating choice because the hydrology for the river is complicated and navigating the channel and its corners and tides is hard. It’s not inconceivable that construction corners were cut by someone along the line to building that support, but even as an amateur I’d bet that BigShip got the corner just right. I also expect that the natural difficulties have become worse as the container ships got larger and the cargo more varied and maybe more dangerous (hazardous stuff onboard now it’s said.) If there’s more traffic, and the unions are as powerful as in other ports, oversight has surely slackened. This ship had documented mechanical problems but was cleared RTG by someone. Even if the Port attempted recovery from the ship’s owners it’s hard to see how they would be able to collect on any judgement. Lessons to be learned from this, but they had advance notice, even if 50 years ago. I’m curious about how many near misses there were or just clipped it incidents. I doubt this is the first bump.
Most tunnels are closed to oversize and hazardous cargo. Nothing wrong with that bridge, they just stopped before the critical support structure was protected.
It was opened for traffic in 1977. Plus it was over a mile and 1/2 long. the support getting hit was in the middle so I imagine it was sudden weight redistribution that took out the rest. They dont make most suspension bridges that long/
Nothing wrong with a long thru truss like that but piers and bents must be protected with sufficient amounts of concrete and dolphins to eliminate any damage to the supports. A bridge is a system, and one of the critical components of that system in Baltimore was not protected. There are more around the country.
I read in 2017 or 2018 an article saying that Trump had been #400-something in the Forbes list, but had moved off the list. If that's true, then Headline USA missed the real point. Trump lost money -- billions, apparently -- while he was President.
Happy Easter and thank you for another week of outstanding information and smiles Don Surber. Now if I can stop winning the flips and get a flop or two the smile may grow.Have a wonderful and safe Easter Surberville.

The hypocrisy is off the charts in professional sports. Remember a time when any kind of gambling on sports was abhorred and reason for banishment? All these on-line gambling entities are now "partners" with the hypocrites. It's especially pathetic in the PGA -- where the sanctimony is vomit inducing.

Ha! The jokes write themselves for this one. Democrats would take the ballot
+ to a harvest festival

+ and when it gets late, to a vacant lot (its home address).
My grandfather voted Democrat in the last election. I'm so disappointed in him. He would never have done that when he was alive.
You win comment of the day 😂
There was a joke that circulated in Jim Wells County, Texas, after the 1948 Democratic primary for US Senator.
Mike: Jose, why are you crying?
Jose: It's my grandfather.
Mike: Oh. But Jose, your grandfather has been dead for four years.
Jose: Yes, I know. But he came back to vote for Lyndon Johnson, and he didn't even visit us!
I wonder if you specify in your will that you want to vote Republican after you reach room temperature, will they honor your last wishes??

The airports alone are the sole reason to drive from Points A to B. I'm surprised that ocean liners haven't made a comeback.
I was a little surprised that the Key bridge completely folded after just one support getting hit. wonder who did the math on that??
Yeah I was reading where they didnt put guards in after 9/11 simply because it was too expense.
As you approach such a structure, be on the lookout for the giant letters on its legs: "LEGO."
Item 2
I read in 2017 or 2018 an article saying that Trump had been #400-something in the Forbes list, but had moved off the list. If that's true, then Headline USA missed the real point. Trump lost money -- billions, apparently -- while he was President.
I think an article I read, indicated like 4 Billion. But it is early, I need coffffeeee and storms kept me up.
The best we can do on short notice:

Item #1: “The Jack S…” Ha! I see what you did there.
Shh. Here comes mama with the Lifebuoy!
“Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. Though my personal preference was for Lux, I found that Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heavy, but with a touch of mellow smoothness. Lifebuoy, on the other hand... (Yechh!)”
Our mamas were prolly cousins! I was youngest of 3, so she took no chances. I got the original orange Lifebuoy, I could smell it a mile away!
You missed "the hint of oak"?
I did. Senior moment.
Sampled it many times as a youth. I preferred LAVA. Lol
Yikes. Lava is gritty, but I loved the radio commercial, bass voice and bass drum in unison "L A V A! L. A V A!"
A nod and a wink for the bogart “Casablanca” reference..gambling!! “I’m shocked”!!
Right! Pete Rose died for their sins.
03/30/24: Rose, slyly referring to Ohtani's sidekick: "How different it all would have been had I had an interpreter" (to scapegoat. Paraphrased). Reminder: Ohtani isn't anywhere off the hook yet. This year will be his Bill Clinton 1998 experience. I wonder if he can transfer manager Dave Roberts to the Pentagon (Clinton's trick, exiling Lewinsky and Linda Tripp to Coventry-Virginia. It didn't work).
Thing is though, remember Rose made the deal with the devil.
He sure did. Exhibit A, "Hubris." I never felt sorry for him for a second.
Looking for the Easter eggs in Surber's posts is my favorite thing. And how timely this weekend!
Poca must mean: "Plenty Of Coal Available".... according to the poll. Just sayin.
Brilliant!!
