I am not sure that the 'greenies' today are smart enough to run a sailing ship. That took special knowledge and a lot of work.

Only if you work for CNN.

Oh, and this... whenever you see the word "path" in the above context, rest assured, you are reading something or listening to someone whose brain ceased working at least a decade ago.

[Go WVU today, Beat Penn State!]

"Item 3... I grew up near Little Budapest in Cleveland."

Yesterday, Don received his birthday presents (alas, the Bentley not).

Today, I received one from Don, the knowledge about:

Mike Powell's memoir "A Life In Film" (1986) includes the story of Emeric Pressburger, a Hungarian who had fled from Hitler's wrath and who ended up as the screen writer in the Powell-Pressburger film company.

Powell's stories about how Pressburger changed his (Powell's) entire menu around after he had been introduced to imported Hungarian food, I recall very well (great book, highly recommended. Clear, concise writing; sense of humor, an insider's candid story about Britain during WWII. Avoid the wooden sequel, "The Million Dollar Movie," published posthumously by well-meaning LACA film illiterates).

"ITEM 6..., “Rachel Maddow Worries..."

She's in for the shock of her well-worn life on November 5, 2024.

50-50% chance of another nervous breakdown.

I'd cite the number, but no one knows it; we lost count about 15 years ago.

Funny how these female impersonators never improve with age.

Usually, it's almost an automatic deal: As your physical bod goes, you acquire wisdom, even serenity.

She should check the warranty on that one, might get a refund...

"ITEM 8... '“Maine Hospital Fired Nurses for Refusing COVID Shots — Now It’s Begging Them to Come Back.'

As someone who in the morning wistfully watches the scene of my well-spent summer youth in Ogunquit Maine ...

It pains me to see what should have been the least-woke state in the country committing suicide.

That is not a figurative statement: they've forced THEIR OWN CITIZENS to commit suicide.

"ITEM 13... “The Disney+ streaming service is cutting three series...' "

"That is a weird way to cut costs — by not releasing shows you already have made."

They have been forced to cut costs by not distributing money-losers.

Which reminds me of that sad day in the 1990s when Calumet Farm, bankrupt, had its auction sale. The farm didn't even have enough money to van their horses to the auctioneers, and, instead, had to walk them through the meadows and back roads to their inglorious destination.

I'd love to see Disney underlings all yoked up pulling covered wagons full of this cancelled refuse out to wherever it is that Los Angeles runs its garbage dumps, if only to see the dump employees refuse to accept it --- in which case, the Disney-Danner party will then have to slog on out to...

(Also recommended: Wild Ride, The Rise & Tragic Fall of Calumet Farm, Inc., Ann Hagedorn Auerbach; Henry Holt & Co. 1994. Avoid, at all costs, her later work, the shrill and hysterical "1919.")

"ITEM 18... “A super PAC set up to back Ron DeSantis with $50 million is closing..."

Seriously, does Ron DeSantis have any idea of the damage that he has done to himself? He started out as the white knight against Iger-Disney, rightly became a hero --- and now his ineptitude has transformed him into a Disney protectorate!

And that's it for today. If you own roller skates, use them.

10 - about six years ago, we (first responders) were able to get Narcan from the state. We needed a doctor to sponsor us and had to keep inventory of our 24 doses. If we had to use the Narcan, we had to notify the agency that provided it. Replacements got easier to get over time(short shelf life). Thankfully, we’ve never needed to use it. Had OD calls, but by the time we arrive, it was too late.

It is sickening to see how it is now freely dispensed encouraging more drug usage.

Yet another invitation from our WEF government to keep up self-destructive behaviors. It is a powerful form of control.

I'm glad they're televising Trump's trial. The left did the same thing in Israel to Netanyahu, thinking they'd get more help from the public in their efforts to convict him . But the public saw right through the scam to see that it was all smoke and mirrors and he was innocent and the accusers were the criminals. And here, we can see not only how corrupt Trump's accusers are, but also how stupid, to boot!

Item 13: As you make the point, Disney+ isn't cost cutting when they fully invest in the production but don't release it to the public.

This is reassuring evidence to me that they have been beaten. They are afraid to release it for fear of losing more business, but they can't stop investing in DEI so they don't offend the leftists. Same for Bud Light. They are stuck in a hole of their own digging. Bud Light can't apologize to their target market loyalist customers about the Mulvaney insult for fear of raising all hell from the Transgender community. They are flash frozen like Mitch McConnell.

Disney+ is the second example of "Winning". They both have locked themselves in DEI prison of their own creation.

What a screw job that would be! I have a 9/11 story along the same lines...

Saratoga late August - early September (22 years ago)...

Aaron Brown, then CNN's Big Cheese / Resident Intellectual (well, I'm trying to be kind, but my sense of honesty tells me to add, "arrogant know-it-all") and I met and struck up a conversation.

I had picked a winner at the previous day. When he asked how I had done it, I told him. He took offense; apparently one should only pick winners according to HIS methods. Sour moment. Thank you, Aaron. Very nice meeting you.

And we all went home.

09/11/01 Kaboom! Aaron was thrown off the air as CNN and the rest of the regime media went into 24/7 hysteria. And he was never seen again, either on CNN or anywhere else. Imagine his chagrin / the insult to his ego when he saw the former NY State Gov. /disgraced Eliot Spitzer get his own show!

I recall reading something where one of his ex-co-workers said something to the effect that, "Well, 09/11 was terrible, but it did give us the perfect excuse to throw Aaron out of the building."
