“In a world where the media spares Democrats scrutiny, Democrat lies pile high.” That is the crux of the problem. The legacy media once touted as the “fourth estate” whose role was to protect the people from overreach of the government irrespective of which party was in power is now just the propaganda arm of Marxist/Democrat/Hate America Party. It, the media has become this nations most dangerous fifth column! My disgust of the media and the democrats is just overwhelming!

Joe LaGreca's avatar

PDJT was 200% correct when he labeled the media "the enemy of the people" - they truly are our # 1 enemy. As many have said, "you can't hate them enough".

VICKI's avatar

Assuming we mean the corporate idiots with the money who tell the half brains who "write" and "read" the "news" who are just trying to keep a job because that's about as much as they can do in the way of work.

Bogusname PeeKay's avatar

David Brock / Media Matters gave legacy media their instructions. I think DB / MM is still doing that. That is why the same thing was said by so many of the those leftist hacks.

Michael Davis's avatar

The Democrat/MSM conglomerate is in many ways like a parasitic organism feeding off the prosperity and safety of a well run civil society. Of course, they do what they can to scuttle the ship of state out of their distorted reality.

Jeremy R's avatar

Has the media ever been worthy of trust? In 1860 the only thing that people in Southern states knew about Lincoln was what the media told them. Based on those reports, they chose to leave the union before Lincoln was even sworn in.

Fast forward 108 years and the media was proclaiming the obliteration of the NVA and VC during the Tet Offensive as a crushing defeat for the soldiers and Marines who WON!

And yet there are people who trust them.

Excellent. The exceptions prove the rule, such as John Fetterman And Jessica tarloff, who are not perfect but like my ex son-in-law Charles Xavier and my favorite president I will stand and defend their reputation to the death. MAD DOG

Skinnydip's avatar

Jessica Tarlov proves nothing, especially her intelligence.

imkitty's avatar

I wish the next time she lies about Trump that Gutfeld would say, PROVE IT. She lives in the bubble of NYC and gets her info from lefty publications.

Judge Jeanine was great for correcting Tarlov.

donald b welch's avatar

yup. when the good judge moved on tarlov got a reprieve. gutfeld snaps her back to reality now and then but immediately softens her landing by smiling and giggling. waters is better but he's there for the money. jesse is much better at 8pm. i will say dana perino (who i know is a hard core rino at heart) has been pretty solid thru the iran issue. tarlov couldn't argue her way out of a 3rd grade debate on womens make-up. her educational vida is a dei aa bullshite resume much like harris, murkowski, collins, omar, tlaib, mad maxine, behar, whoopie and big mike.

revmaddog1948's avatar

Tell us how you really feel. I'm more forgiving to a point but the muhammadists are pretty much beyond redemption when they get to the point of leadership. I've decided to put this in my humor and insanity blog.

Yeah, Jessica just changes the subject to something else when she gets caught in lies. Miss Judge Jeanine but she is doing good in DC.

revmaddog1948's avatar

I see that you guys still don't understand how the five is set up. Jessica tarlov is not a token liberal but actually is a very good representative of the honorable Democrats who you can sit and have a conversation with without them running away crying like what happened in Europe when JD events addressed them. What we are watching has been orchestrated by management which is only father son and holy Spirit which is made entirely of grace of which I have kind of a practical doctorate degree I've been instructed by the professor called Jehovah Lord God Almighty father and son team. My whole purpose from this point on will be to explain what Grace is if you can because it is so comprehensible incomprehensible. I think I'll put this in the shepherd's journal. And now I see why I have lymphedema, to keep me humble and believe me as talented and formerly good looking as I am it's hard to be humble when you're so good in every way but I do hate to look in the mirror as I get uglier each day nevertheless to know me unless you're pissed at me is to love me and I just had a fierce discussion with my youngest daughter because she is and has been for decades involved in the migrant children and she doesn't understand what's going on right now and she spoke to me like a child and I relate acted reacted editor's note I'm not correcting my spelling right now she reacted like any mother would give her children were threatened and what you are witnessing with Jessica Turlock spelling dumb nuts that's you is an understandable problem so unless you have enough sense to shut up before we have a divorce listen to what I'm saying this is the age of lawyers coming to a close and the age of warriors starting and that's poetical from lawyers to warriors. I guess I camp with that in the shepherd's journal yet. Not too much personal information got too much personal information. Later Gators.

tj's avatar

The 5 needs JT to work. Or at least a reasonable Dim. I just hope really doesnt believe all the BS she spews. Sounds like your daughter is reacting like the children she cares for as her own children. An admirable trait if not being abused by others at this point. Good luck with you lymphedema. That disease sucks.

I don't get why FOX NEWS thinks that they must have a left-wing nutcase on that show - wonder who made up that rule?

Cookie McCall's avatar

Well I like it when Harold Form Jr is on he talks sense, Jessica has the most annoying voice on that or any other program

donald b welch's avatar

harold ford is a milk toast hard over donk. he smiles, tells you how glad he is to see you, how much he appreciates being able to discuss the issues and then votes for the killing of the unborn, free welfare, higher taxes, loser judges and other assorted bullshite agendas that drive america into the abyss of darkness at warp speed.

he's a huckster just like tarlov, just smarter and not as ditsy.

imkitty's avatar

Dittos. And he's too verbose. Just bumper-sticker it, Harold!

revmaddog1948's avatar

Sigh. Although I'm not a die-hard fan of Fox News I have kind of stood by them off and on although they've had a steep learning curve and I agree in principle that it needs to be at least on the surface bipartisan and safe for those who are not stupid and that is what Jessica tarloff has said she'll stick with a Democrats as long as they're not stupid which is also the one that my hero which I've been promoting for some time John fetterman My AI secretary got the spelling right. Another advantage with my new voice that was a gift from God. My new voice scared the s*** out of my youngest daughter who I will remind you again is honorable like Jessica and you can get my address with a message if you want although I won't fight you if you come here I'll just I'll get you a cup of coffee.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

Even the late Bob Beckel made more sense than Tarlov. An interesting poll question would be who is / was the worst token LIB on The Five. Lots of competition including Juan Williams & Geraldo Rivera.

Democrats have become the party of automatic opposition — if Donald J. Trump orders the sun to rise, they’d demand darkness. Every decisive act of leadership — crushing Iran’s nuclear program, smashing narco-terror fleets, securing the border, or restoring order in Washington — is met with the same tired chorus of “illegal,” “impeachable,” and “dangerous.” It’s political theater for a party that long ago ran out of ideas. Americans see the difference between action and whining. Trump governs like a commander-in-chief protecting a nation; Democrats behave like a grievance committee for America’s enemies. If this is their strategy, they’re not resisting Trump — they’re writing the campaign ads for his landslide reelection.

Suzie's avatar

Wish that were true, but the shenanigans going on in purportedly RED STATES this election season are not good omens. Case in point:

Skinnydip's avatar

This really scares me.

Suzie's avatar

In New Mexico, Incumbent Senator Ben Ray Luján is running for re-election and will face no Republican opponent, and State Treasurer Laura Montoya and State Auditor Joseph Maestas, both Democrats, are also running for re-election unopposed, as Republicans failed to field candidates for those positions. New Mexico isn’t a red state, but where’s the GOP?? Buehler? Buehler?

Texas is a mess, the NRSC pouring thousands just into Cornyn’s campaign that could have gone to other races.

It’s not pretty out there, and when your own party is sabotaging you well, may God have mercy on us.

Doug's avatar

That's why I no longer respond to those "beggin' letters".

Cookie McCall's avatar

Ours all go straight to trash

Joe LaGreca's avatar

And in Montana, incumbent Steve Daines announced he wasn't running minutes before the filing deadline to allow his chosen replacement to submit papers before the filing deadline. That's not much different with what the DEM's pulled with Harris.

Suzie's avatar

That was actually a good thing, as it prevented Democrat challengers from getting a chance to enter and allowed Alme to take his place, who Trump has endorsed.

“ Kurt Alme, Montana’s former U.S. Attorney and a Republican, filed to run for the Senate seat eight minutes before the deadline, suggesting a coordinated effort. Daines quickly endorsed Alme, as did President Donald Trump, who praised Daines for deciding to “pass the torch.”

It’s the kind of legal cleverness that we need to employ more.

Republicans have to up their game if we want to win.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Hadn't seen that-- that is cool, and savvy.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

Interesting take. Most of the commentary I've read thinks that the purpose of Daines last minute move was to anoint his chosen successor.

That is a failure of the North Carolina Republican Party apparatus. MAGA needs to start swarming and take over the state Party apparatuses, and this type of thing wouldn't happen.

“Americans cheered. Democrats booed.” That about sums it up right there, Don! I wonder if Thune is listening? Perhaps he should get the SAVE Act passed in order to save his feckless friend, but only if Trump puts Paxton in the big AG’s seat. Time for DOJ Barbie to follow ICE Midge.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

I've come to the conclusion that Thune is worse than McConnell. When he was running to become senate leader, Thune promised that he would allow PDJT to make recess appts - now, this is the first time the president's own party has denied him the right to make those appts by scheduling "pro-forma" sessions while the senate is on vacation. How do we wind up with such awful leaders!

Sam Prentice's avatar

Joe, what Thune did purposely to block Trump's ability to make recess appointments is all we need to know about him. Imagine a Republican blocking Trump's ability to put prosecutors and judges in place to replace and counter the Democrat judges committing lawfare against him! That proves to me beyond a shadow of a doubt that Thune is owned by the Deep State and is and enemy of America, as all Democrats are.

tj's avatar

Yep and he promised to do a standing? vote on the SAVE act if the Republicans got their act together else where. They did.

He immediately reneged. He cant leave soon enough.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

He's also not working to get PDJT's nominees confirmed in the senate through normal process. I recall McConnell & Miss Lindsay rolling out the carpet for Biden's nominees. Dinosaur Grassley & Thune cling to the blue slip tradition, so states with DEM senators like NY & NJ will never approve a conservative Trump nominee.

tj's avatar

Yeah, this makes me really really mad every time I think about it.

Actually, I would support requirements for office to have been born in the US of US citizens at the time of birth and for military service, especially for the latter to be on any committee regarding the military. Warning have succumbed to using Grok.

No, the United States Congress did not issue a formal declaration of war during the Barbary Wars (the First Barbary War, 1801–1805 against Tripoli, and the Second Barbary War, 1815 against Algiers).

The Barbary Wars were limited naval conflicts against North African states (the Barbary powers: Tripoli, Algiers, Tunis, and Morocco) over piracy, tribute demands, and attacks on American shipping. Congress authorized military action but stopped short of a full declaration of war, which was the constitutional requirement for major wars (Article I, Section 8).

### First Barbary War (1801–1805, also called the Tripolitan War)

- The conflict began when the Pasha of Tripoli, Yusuf Karamanli, demanded higher tribute payments. When President Thomas Jefferson refused, Tripoli declared war on the United States in May 1801 (symbolically by chopping down the flagpole at the U.S. consulate in Tripoli).

- Jefferson sent a naval squadron to the Mediterranean to blockade Tripoli and protect U.S. commerce, initially acting defensively without explicit congressional approval for offensive operations.

- In February 1802, Congress passed the "Act for the Protection of Commerce and Seamen of the United States against the Tripolitan Corsairs". This authorized the president to use naval force to seize Tripolitan vessels and goods, and to take "all such other acts of precaution or hostility as the state of war will justify."

- This was essentially an authorization for limited war (similar to an Authorization for Use of Military Force today), but not a formal declaration of war. Sources like the U.S. State Department, Wikipedia, and historical analyses consistently note that Congress never voted on a formal declaration.

- The war ended with a treaty in 1805 after U.S. naval victories and actions like the Battle of Derna.

### Second Barbary War (1815, also called the Algerine War)

- After the War of 1812 ended, the Dey of Algiers renewed attacks on U.S. shipping and repudiated prior tribute agreements.

- President James Madison requested that Congress declare war. Instead, in March 1815, Congress passed legislation authorizing the president to use the Navy to protect commerce, seize Algerian vessels and goods, and commission privateers if needed.

- Again, this was not a formal declaration of war but an authorization for hostilities.

- A U.S. squadron under Commodore Stephen Decatur quickly defeated Algerian forces, leading to a peace treaty in 1815 (with a follow-up in 1816 after European intervention).

### Key Context

- These were the young U.S.'s first overseas military actions as an independent nation.

- They set precedents for presidential use of force with congressional authorization but without a formal declaration (similar to the Quasi-War with France in 1798–1800).

- The Barbary powers often "declared war" symbolically (e.g., via flagpole-cutting or capturing ships), but the U.S. responded with defensive/offensive naval operations backed by Congress.

In summary, while Congress supported and funded the wars through specific authorizing acts, there was no formal congressional declaration of war in either conflict. This reflects early debates over war powers between the executive and legislative branches.

Roy Weintraub's avatar

The 1964 Gulf of Tonkin Resolution wherein Congress gave authority to what became a full scale war. Considering the circumstances surrounding the cause for that war & the present action, there is far more reasons to attack Iran.

Joe LaGreca's avatar

As Don S. mentioned in today's blog, Fetterman votes with the GOP when his vote doesn't really matter. He talks the good talk at times & sounds reasonable - but he aligns with DEM's most of the time - reminds me of Manchin.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Yes.

I wonder how these people will live with themselves the rest of their lives. Am including RINO Shelley Moore Capito in that group too. Yes, she votes OK on the visible issues, but stabs back on the less noticed issues. Both Manchin and Capito have essentially stood on the sidelines, failing completely to FIGHT FOR AMERICA. Both are essentially passive, and interested only in themselves and their bank accounts.

Being a passive Senator in times like this is essentially to commit Treason By Omission.
