Yes, my general impression is that the writer wormed his way into the bird cage to scrape up from the bottom whatever he could, in abject desperation.
That said, I don't approve of using misleading evidence; it can blow up your entire case. But he didn't have anywhere near enough to achieve that.

I’ve been watching the same story since the antiwar protests in the late 60s. From those to the 0ccupy Wall Street to the George Floyd BLM riots it was always a similar assembly of special interest groups…anarchists, union thugs, college kids, feminists, etc. Because of X and other alternative media, these riots are less effective in controlling the narrative. Nobody is watching them.
