Worth it just to see you misspell Bentley at the end of the article.

Joseph Kaplan's avatar

Maybe itโ€™s time for a go fund me for Donโ€™s Bentley. Iโ€™ll open with the first $1.00.

Big spender. lol ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

I will raise you a 5er

I'll put in a hundred this month, as long as my daughter doesn't find out. Yeah, she's bossy.

Give Sir a break, he was tipsy.

Jim Nelson's avatar

I think it is obvious what Don did there. Yesterday, he misspelled champagne and someone sent him a bottle of champagne. Today, he misspells Bentley in the fervent hope that some reader will send him a Bentley. I know I would, but I am fresh out of Bentleys. Sorry Don.

David Thompson's avatar

Yes, I got his joke. But in order to pull it off, he had to deface his favorite brand. Which shows more loyalty? To withstand the pressure to vandalize the company name or to throw self-respect to the wind in the hopes of a company car? It is a real catch 22. ๐Ÿ˜€

John Swindall's avatar

Channeling my best Scott Adams you should have a site called โ€œGet Bentleyโ€

W.'s avatar

I believe that was a test to see who was paying attention to the very end.

LuAnn's avatar

Hope the champagne was good and that it was from France. It's just bubbles if it's not from France. Sorry, I am purist on this one although I do like the Napa Valley Mumm pink bubbles. (Legally and oenophilically, it's not champagne.)

Neera Goitein's avatar

Don misspelled Bently like he misspelled Champaign!

"And Jack the Ripper only stalked a small part of London. What is the point?" This is a sharper cut than the Ripper ever dreamed of.

Iโ€™m sensing a pattern. โ€œItโ€™s only a handful of apartment buildings being taken over by blah blah blahโ€. โ€œItโ€™s only a tiny part of Los Angeles. Thatโ€™s under siegeโ€ฆโ€ How easily we were manipulated in the past.

Well if we eradicate a โ€œfewโ€ anarchists, is that okay as well? Itโ€™s only a few.

OldeArtiste's avatar

I'd say more than a "few", especially if they have rocks, bricks, or "Molotov cocktails" in their hands...

Bring it! You know those thugs will drink anything! Even from Russia.

If we were to use snipers on a few in front mayhap those followers would lose their lunches and more. IT would only take 8-10 to send the message, rioters and looters will not survive to reap the fruits of misdeeds.

Yesterday, I heard several Canadian journalists sympathetically referring to illegal immigrants in California as simply "immigrants." Hey, I'm golfing today. There's a big storm cell coming through the metro area. That's gonna keep the old boomers home.

AZCACTUSPETE's avatar

I deduce that you are not one of the "old" boomers or a boomer at all. Go out and play golf in the rain and wind and say thanks to the "old" boomers and the rest of the boomers who served and preserved for YOU your freedom to golf in the midst of a storm cell. Have fun, young man.

Sophie's avatar

I agree. This Gen-X or Millennial hate towards all Boomers has gotten out of control. My husband and I are young Boomers, born after 1955 but before 1960. I donโ€™t recall our cohort hating on the generations before us, though, I donโ€™t deny some Boomers did place blame. I do recall being raised to respect our elders and to be grateful for their contributions to our country, as you say, preserving freedom. Furthermore, I take every opportunity to express my gratitude for Gen-Xers, Millennials, and Gen-Zers. They are our friends, family members, and neighbors. When I need to call a repairman, usually a Gen-Xer arrives. And I am grateful. So many examples can be made that prove we should appreciate each other and not disparage people from other generations. Let us remember that Donald Trump is an old Boomer, JD Vance is a Millennial, Elon Musk is a Gen-Xer and many of the DOGE members are Gen-Zers. Where would our country be without their combined abilities? Thank you for prompting this rant that has been percolating in me for a while.

LuAnn's avatar

I am a young boomer, too, and I have never been overly fond of the older boomers as a group. But I do my best to judge people individually.

Ross's avatar

Aww, cโ€™mon kids, lighten up.

Iโ€™m a pre-boomer, born in NZ 10th December, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbour. My eternal gratitude to the US Marines who ensured that I would grow up speaking English.

Yes, Iโ€™ve had a good life. My wife and I have done our best to ensure that our children have had good lives too.

There are no guarantees.

Love the Lord. Love your neighbours as yourself.

I guess that makes you all honourable boomers too.

Bless xx

Lawsy0's avatar

I loved the WWII boomers; I would Inherit their rooms and their cars. Only about 30% of my class of 1960 went to 'Nam.

AZCACTUSPETE's avatar

I wrote the above post. Was born in 1946 nine months from the day my dad returned from the Pacific Theatre WWII- his ship was parked in Tokyo Bay when the surrender was signed on the Missouri. I graduated from high school in New Jersey in 1964; then from as the U of Wyoming in 1968. The draft board for the Vietnam War failed me three times; knee injuries and surgeries from playing baseball into college. And here I am 57 years later; same scars on the knee; no knee replacement; so I never served. I don't classify people as this and that generation. Everyone is equal. If I don't like someone or what they stand for or if I can't take their negative attitudes, I just don't hang out with them. Life is much simpler when you pick and choose. No stress about all of this here; just logic and common sense.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Nearing 80 and pals and I live by [ if it or they are a drag cut the line ].

Jake's avatar

Born on the day the Korean war started. I'm as Boomer as they come.

Sure, but will it keep away the hired professional protesters?

Lawsy0's avatar

Yeah, like a little bit pregnant!

Vince Gallo's avatar

"Mostly peaceful" - similar to "Occasionally violent", like a carnivore...

William Robinette's avatar

I must be confused. Any where else is the world where a large group of foreign nationals are running around attacking authorities and destroying infrastructure while waving flags of a foreign nation, it would be rightfully be considered an invasion and military intervention would certainly be appropriate. Government officials supporting the invasion would be traitors and very guilty of sedition. It's time to stop this in a hard way.

Jeremy R's avatar

Better check out what's happening in France and other parts of Europe.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

One round to the head and a clip to above the navel on MR dancing on a car waving a foreign flag would have slowed this shit way back immediately . Jus sayin.

Jeremy R's avatar

While I'm in agreement, I was pointing out that western culture is being targeted for destruction by the string pullers. Even whites in Africa are in the que. We brought the industrial revolution, labor saving machines, electric power, fossil fueled everything from transportation to lighting, cooking comfort and the list goes on. We're leading the way to developing better fuels, energy from the sun and geothermal yet they want us dead.

In Africa where whites developed modern farms and orchards, now lie ruins and the people starve or join their kind assaulting Europe.

The WEF has fewer brain cells than some of the inbred monarchs a century ago.

France England, Germany, nearly all of the EU is over run with vermin who only consume and breed

Yet the governments there do less than nothing, they will arrest you for pointing out the problem.

Have you considered Great Britain or Londonstan? Or Netherlands, Germany or any European country except Poland? Even the Sweds are starting to see the light!

I expected the essentially anti-Trump riots to erupt much sooner. I guess that the Communists were waiting for better weather and more funding from the usual suspects.

Jeremy R's avatar

Not merely anti Trump, as he said several years ago , they're not after him, they're after you and me, he's just in the way.

Jake's avatar

Don't think for a minute that the Trumpster hasn't planned for this. Hegseth was a Guardsman for many years so he knows the deal. Could be one of the reasons the Trumpster chose him.

I believe I borrowed that from little green footballs back before he went left wing extreme.

Shrugged's avatar

I believe they see some weakness with Musk's departure.

I still hold a high degree of suspicion on his departure (ie) timing, way it was handled, etc.

It was not organic and I believe someday the 'force' will be exposed.

When I see people like Maxine Waters in Congress I wonder who the bloody hell are the voters in her district. They have to be, if it is possible, even dumber than her.

Jake's avatar

Hard to beat the cheat in California.

Listening to Maxine Waters kills more brain cells than grain alcohol. Ignorance personified!

Lawsy0's avatar

I think they could be on the "pay as you go" plan, like the Biden plan. If you're kin, you're in.

AZCACTUSPETE's avatar

My take has always been that a majority of Americas are dumb or stupid or both. That might provide an answer to your "wonder who .... the voters are in her district". Reflect on that. You can't fix stupid is the saying from the movie.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

You forgot lazy and entitled .

The increase in printing presses and postal service in the American colonies in the late 1700s was a major reason the British government lost control of information and ended up with the American Revolution. In modern times, the rise of the Internet has caused the traditional media to lose control of the flow of information. The Establishment tried to regain control, especially with the censorship over Covid in 2020 and after--but they failed, thanks to Musk. Now it is biting them even harder.

During the 20th century, a lot of media got swallowed up by conglomerates, where they had once been run by local companies. The Cincinnati Enquirer, my hometown paper, is one example. They were a conservative rag when I was growing up. Since they were bought by Gannett, they have gone more and more liberal. The same thing happened with the Indianapolis Star (I lived there for 17 years). I also remember a lot more local programming on the TV stations.

The 20th century was an age of centralization--Big Government, Big Business, and Big everything. I suspect the 21st is going to be an era of de-centralization--maybe not total, but a lot more than we've had in my lifetime.

LuAnn's avatar

Yes to that, Phil.

John Wiles's avatar

I chose Maxine over Newsome because she, even more than he, represents the ultimate and complete stupidity, reverse racism, and ignorance that has invaded our state and federal government. People aren't electing 'good' people based on what they want to do to improve their community, county, state and nation; they are being elected because very few really good people are choosing to run for offices. Why? The 'good' people all have good jobs and a future. Look at your corrupt politicians, like Maxine Waters. Put her under the microscope. Why was she elected? On what platform of improvement? How much has her overall wealth grown since she was elected? Oh, no, John, we can't do that. "She's black and we don't want to stir that race thing up", is the reply. Let's just look at a few successful non-whites who made it, not because of the color of their skin, but because of the Content of their Character - Morgan Freeman, Sidney Portier, Tiger Woods, Shakeel O'Neal, Charles Barkley, Halle Berry, and that is just a few famous ones. Did some of these have problems too? Yes, and many of us do, but they persevered, as all who strive to do and better do. So, do I put credence in whatever Maxine Waters does or says? No, I don't. Nor Newsome, nor Schumer, nor Pelosi, and none of the old entrenched Republicans. They all need to be voted out. The line is drawn. Either we give in to the lawlessness being displayed in California, OR you line up in combat formation and you move everyone in your way into the waiting buses in handcuffs and every jail available. What, they don't want to move? Then walk over them and let the rear guard of medics and troopers treat them for their injuries, then arrest them, and move them off to jail. ENOUGH is ENOUGH. We need out country back.

Cookie McCall's avatar

To your list, we need to add Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams - all of them are filled with Content of Character

I hate to say it, but the only way to end this crap is by force of arms. When the caravans were forming up in Mexico we should have had humvee mounted ma deuces patrolling the border. Believe me, a couple hundred corpses floating down the Rio Grande would have kept this mess from even starting.

Jeremy R's avatar

A10 warthogs but change the GAU-8 avenger to an M-134 7.62 caliber Gatling gun and make the load out weight the same. The trade off in ammo alone is about 20-1. Factor in that a M134 would weigh much less, and you have considerably more fire power that can see further, arrive faster and engage a wider area.

Douglas Baringer's avatar

You are right, of course, and I do not know much about modern martial arms. I am however, an old geezer, and the Browning M-2 .50 Cal has always been an icon to me. It has been in service longer than dirt and was the first thing coming to mind when one wants to apply some real kinetic energy!

Regardless of the delivery method, lethal force is not the answer, but again I am an old geezer and it is a dream to make people bend to our will.

Jeremy R's avatar

When trying to stop an invasion, lethal force is the answer. Long gone are the days when Mexicans were coming here to make money picking melons then go home until next year. Today the crossers are coming to live off the generosity of politicians willing to spend other people's money with no accountability. Others bring drugs, sex slaves disease and death.

Mexico doesn't teach their children the truth that we paid their government for the land. Yes we fought a war, but at the end they got cash. Twice in fact because we did it again when we made the Gadsden purchase.

Sadly, our schools don't teach history either.

That doesn't matter to the smugglers or the politicians who are paid by other interests that want to destroy the United States. This will come to force of arms. Probably not armies in a battle line, but abandoned individuals defending life loved ones and property from criminals wanting to loot rape and destroy.

Be sober, be vigilant, because our adversaries, serving the devil, now wander about seeking whom they may devour.

Through that pitiful article in the Times runs the lament that the world no longer takes that paper seriously. Correction: except for a handful of incurable snobs. And the best the writer can do is point out a few misplaced photographs ... and after all that sound and fury, produce a nothing-burger.

Alan's avatar

My favorite part was when the NYT complained that the tweets on X were trying to make the Democrats look bad. From the paper that has spent a decade trying to make DJT and MAGA look bad, that was an interesting reveal. They have lost the plot and they are now on defense. They are now the ones whining, "But, but, what about....."

Wim de Vriend's avatar

Yes, my general impression is that the writer wormed his way into the bird cage to scrape up from the bottom whatever he could, in abject desperation.

That said, I don't approve of using misleading evidence; it can blow up your entire case. But he didn't have anywhere near enough to achieve that.

Lawsy0's avatar

Any idea of who it was that was trying to make the Democrats look good??

Iโ€™ve been watching the same story since the antiwar protests in the late 60s. From those to the 0ccupy Wall Street to the George Floyd BLM riots it was always a similar assembly of special interest groupsโ€ฆanarchists, union thugs, college kids, feminists, etc. Because of X and other alternative media, these riots are less effective in controlling the narrative. Nobody is watching them.
