My personal beef is calling Hakeem Jefferies the dollar store Obama. We need to stop doing that. I'm not defending either of them, it's just that it implies that Barry isn't entirely worthless.
Lindsay Graham shuts up is the best outcome for the US, Zelensky buys a suit is the best outcome for Ukraine. Think of the billions wasted on this war. It’s amazing how truly pathetic Western leaders have been for over 20 years.
No, this is an unfortunate fact that is necessary for our continued survival: "proxy wars are crucial in the development of methods and means to destroy things and kill people."
Every generation of leaders (and not just Western, as the list of conflicts Trump has purportedly resolved indicates) appear to have a penchant for truly pointless wars. And always under a different rationale that ignores history (this time it's different), while declaring an existential crisis with the fate of humanity (civilization, freedom, equality, women's rights, LBGTQWERTY rights, Capital "D" Democracy) in the balance. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
A story as old as humanity. Condensing Hegel: History teaches that governments have never learned anything from history. Including that!
Zelensky may wear a suit if it's an open casket. Unless he gets the feet-first wood chipper treatment or just walks out on the cruise deck (in shark infested waters) and that was all she wrote.
And sadly though I would prefer that the U.S. not pay to rebuild, I am sure that we will be on the hook as prompted by the cabal of RINOs and the rest of the “rules based order” crowd. (For pics, see the recent Cheney funeral).
I am always happy when I see the great GA conservative, John Linder, drop by Surber with a comment. Congressman Linder, along with radio talker Neal Boortz, wrote "The Fair Tax" in 2005....
It would still work today with some tweaks, wouldn't it John?
I would indeed. We are presently working with several states, including Georgia, for them to abolish income taxes for the FairTax. Ultimately it will become federal policy because there is nowhere else to go. We cannot continue to expect freedom to prosper when those not paying into the system are disproportionate beneficiaries of more spending and those paying are fewer and fewer. They can afford to move.
I wonder how Neal is doing. I never listened to his radio show, but I enjoyed reading his blog. My last recollections are that he took the death of his radio sidekick, Royal, pretty hard & started a fund for the children. Neal got knee replacements at the same time & retired to Naples, FL.
“Tell Vladimir I’ll have more flexibility after the election.” Yes, that was the first machine-rigged election and we haven’t had a real one since. That pink gay noodle caused more death and heartache throughout the world than Stalin. As for Ukraine, NATO, and the UN, well, two out of three need to be dissolved, and Ukraine needs to go back to being mostly Russian, sans Little Z, soon to be lolling on a yacht off of Monaco.
Don asks, "Why aren’t our cities like this?" I answer, "Because our cities aren't populated by decent Ukrainians or Russians, but by some of the world's worst people."
Mr. Surber - thank you for your excellent explanation of this mess. I do feel sorry for the people of Ukraine who have been forced to endure this war to nowhere and it is past time for it to come to an end and the "comedian" to exit the stage
The best outcome of ending this war, for me, and others, is selfish. I finally get to take my 12 day river trip from Moscow to St Petersburg on the Volga River.
There are NO takers of Baltic cruises w/o St Petersburg.
Who would ever want to vacay in Finland? Any good Michelin restaurants in Estonia, Latvia or East Prussia…
Viking Cruises started rivers w leased Russian ships on the Volga between St Pete & Moscow.
When EU & City of London & CIA give up on colour revolution 2014 ‘Reset’ plan to take over Russia and divvy up as loan collateral, Viking will throw in a 2 extra nights on the Dnieper as a new excursion.
Zelensky & pals are rich. Preezy’s rich. Clinton’s are rich. Bidens are rich. CIA & USAID folks are rich. MTG is rich. 2 generations of Ukrainian men are dead, disabled, or living in EU - never going back. And the US citizen Voters have $30 Trillion on the grandkids Credit Card. Win Win Win - let’s do it some more.
Going to EU & UK is all the same now (chyna made - non-local stuff) Zara, Bennetton, Kors, Dior, Adidas, Gap, Armani, Burberry,….friends enjoyed their visits to Russia and the nice normal Russians they met. Have not been digitized yet by WEF pernicious schemes…. And Everywhere now is …Black Friday!! A few years ago our guide in Nimes, France was showing us the Roman La Maison Carrée that inspired Jefferson, and he was bragging about Black Friday was there….and he asked….but What’s Thursday about?? Saw a small plaque dedicated to 3rd US Infantry, liberated them - Aug1944…
One: the witless and senile FJB wasn't even calling the shots. At the time he did the withdrawal, I thought it was just a dumbass guy doing a dumbass thing, just because he could, now that he was a big shot. But who really did this? Which evil cabal person (or faction) was so hell-bent on the hasty withdrawal?
Two: we don't have cities that look like Zaporizhzhia because most of our buildings date from the artless modern era (concrete, steel, glass), and also because we built our cities to accommodate cars (roads and parking).
Now the Eurotrash NATO countries can go back to doing what they do best: destroying their own countries and replacing their citizens with goat lovers and murderers.
And one reason I say so is Trump's boast during his election campaign that he would settle that war in one day. Certainly, it's like Trump to exaggerate, but that was beyond the pale; it proved he had no understanding of the situation at all.
Another thing of which he has no real knowledge seem to be what it took for this country to win its own war of independence. It could not have done it without assistance from the foreign powers of that day, most of it from France, but also from Spain and the Netherlands.
I agree Trump exaggerates too much, even to the point of being ridiculous, and has seemed impotent in securing peace in this instance. But he sees the big picture better than anyone. He’s persistent through all the chaos, and he’s well-intentioned, he’s willing to understand and work with difficult leaders, and he may well get through the mire here.
Being in real estate adventures PDJT is used to dealing with hoity toity and gutter life crooks and shysters while making good things happen. His predecessors were merely puppets and political parasites who never came up with ONE idea good for the AMERICAN TAXPAYING CITIZEN.
It took Trump too long to figure out that Kellogg is a neocon. DJT definitely didn’t appreciate how much the UK and EU need this war as cover to blame their upcoming economic collapse on Russia. They are the stumbling block to peace.
Trump definitely knows his history, and is trying to resurrect the American System. The City of London, not the people of Britain, is our enemy and Trump knows it. He said it out loud on “60 Minutes,” that the U.S. has been a “subject nation” to London, Brussels and the deep state. Trump is leading us to independence from the globalists in the Second American Revolution.
It was the Russian Navy that prevented British blockades on the east coast and at San Francisco during the Civil War. The world’s best hope for peace is the budding partnership between the USA and Russia to keep the Brits and EU in check.
Mr. Surber, calling Biden witless and senile is being too kind by half.
My first 2 attributes would have been corrupt & pervert.
Criminal Crime Family works for me.
The shell no-answer man... 30 shellcompanies no business, and never an accounting or answer...
We tend to be like that.
My personal beef is calling Hakeem Jefferies the dollar store Obama. We need to stop doing that. I'm not defending either of them, it's just that it implies that Barry isn't entirely worthless.
Excellent point!
Hakeem is the k-mart blue light. Special Obama. Discounted and ready to go out of business.
Lindsay Graham shuts up is the best outcome for the US, Zelensky buys a suit is the best outcome for Ukraine. Think of the billions wasted on this war. It’s amazing how truly pathetic Western leaders have been for over 20 years.
the billions can replaced...the men who died cannot.
I think only the Almighty has the power to shut up Miss Lindsay.
I dunno , he may be second on Putin's list . We all know who is first .
What the Z-man needs are pine pajamas.
ISWYDT. LOL.
NIIIICE !!
No, this is an unfortunate fact that is necessary for our continued survival: "proxy wars are crucial in the development of methods and means to destroy things and kill people."
Alternatively... better your dead than my dead!!

I fear you are correct !
> I also learned a little about Zaporizhzhia, which is a beautiful city. Very beautiful. Why aren’t our cities like this?
Bongino answer, paraphrased from memory:
"Republicans are only very rarely the solution to our problems. But the Democrats are always the cause."
If you want a solution, try acid.
Ouch. 😆
NATO and the UN are both useless instruments in the goal of peace.
indeed. nato is even worse than the un although the un is globally useless.
Both are just money-laundering operations.
To me, NATO is the place where 'puffed-up' generals spend their time on the golf course and cocktail parties.
NATO is the place for the destructive hardware man!!
UN united never
"Pink gay noodles with plenty of butter." The best part is you're going to piss off fake gay folk.
Gay means happy, joyful.
I trust Putin more than our establishment organized crime outlet named Zelinskiy.
Amen to the last line and it aint much.
NATO expired on March 31, 1991 when the Warsaw Pact was ended. NATO has earned a dignified service with full military honors.

The REAL war is always on our pocketbooks, no matter the cause or who’s in charge. Thank you Joe, Vlad and Volod.
It would be sooo nice if thanking them could actually stop their thieving. 😆

What I enjoy about this column and others of yours Mr. Surber is the history you bring into the current state of affairs.
That and you are usually 100% spot on with your thoughts.
Thanks

My parents who traveled all over Europe and some Asia, said the trip was their favorite. Artists, food and culture.

"Selfish" doesn't begin to describe your priorities.
Two thoughts:
One: the witless and senile FJB wasn't even calling the shots. At the time he did the withdrawal, I thought it was just a dumbass guy doing a dumbass thing, just because he could, now that he was a big shot. But who really did this? Which evil cabal person (or faction) was so hell-bent on the hasty withdrawal?

An answer for #1--some traitorous American who was in the pay of Chy-na.
Now the Eurotrash NATO countries can go back to doing what they do best: destroying their own countries and replacing their citizens with goat lovers and murderers.
My feeling is that this so-called peace plan will soon be as irrelevant as Kamala Harris.
And one reason I say so is Trump's boast during his election campaign that he would settle that war in one day. Certainly, it's like Trump to exaggerate, but that was beyond the pale; it proved he had no understanding of the situation at all.

Maybe, but there's an old saying about good intentions.
Well — it does help. Results will tell.
My mom told me about this.
And Chy-na...
