Since Don talks about

Courts driving outside their lanes, going to talk about this:

The United Nations’ 🇺🇳 top court said today in a landmark advisory opinion that countries failing to take measures to safeguard the planet from “climate change,” and any nation harmed by its impacts, could be in violation of international law.

If this is so The UN should close its Headquarters and work by video conference. (working by mail would also be acceptable). Then the UN building should be razed and replaced by a clean green carbon free Nuclear Generating Station.

Gail W's avatar

I LOVE your suggestion and the UN taking this position is just asking for Trump to WITHDRAW the US out of it and kick them the hell out of NYC.

Video conferencing for the foreseeable future sounds IDEAL to me. Let them all get hookers in their OWN damn countries.

RevMikeyMac's avatar

Trump could always give the UN a little piece of land for their HQ ... in Greenland.

Playswithneedles's avatar

Far too nice a location. I’d prefer some place like Chad.

Retirednottired's avatar

This would be more in keeping with the UN's current philosophy.

Brian LeMay's avatar

Nope , they can't handle money properly . They would surely foul up the responsibility of looking after property .

Skinnydip's avatar

And during the video conference they can switch back and forth between the meeting and PornHub.

Gail W's avatar

🤣 Multi-tasking at its best! 🥴

EAWass's avatar

Or take lessons from Jeffrey Toobin…very much greener

Yes, and let the hookers learn to code, or what the latest road to riches is.

Playswithneedles's avatar

So, is the UN going to go after China and India, the two biggest polluters on the planet? /s

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Is this a trick question//sarc??

Stephen Fitzmaurice's avatar

Great ideas! The UN has strayed a long way from its founders intentions. It's housed in the US but the organization constantly bites the hand that feeds it. It's a beautiful building but the land would be far more useful to us as a nuclear power plant.

Suzie's avatar

Empty it, renovate it and turn it into the Trump Presidential Library. Hah! The irony!

Chuck Goldman's avatar

Or a residence for homeless Veterans

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

And its large enough to have a fully staffed med facility on site .

Suzie's avatar

The Globalists are in a right panic as they see all their dreams and schemes being crushed into dust by Trump 2.0.

Jim Nelson's avatar

The UN reminds of those rioters in LA waving Mexican flags protesting ICE arrests of illegal immigrants. If those protesters love Mexico so much and hate the U.S. so much, why are they in LA and not Tijuana or Mexico City living the good life? Likewise, the UN is clearly an anti-American organization and has been for decades but they still keep their HQ in NYC instead of moving it to some other country. I think it's high time to evict the UN and send all those corrupt third world faux-delegates packing. I think Beijing would be a lovely spot for their new home.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Now don't be using reasoned logic Tmitsss.

Cookie McCall's avatar

I read this stupid UN ruling also and definitely agree they need to be removed from their occupancy in NYC.

Mike Smyth's avatar

It should be a homeless shelter for all the drug addicts infecting NYC.

Brian LeMay's avatar

Uh huh , who gonna enforce said international law ?

Yes I chuckled at great length over that one, while being reminded for the hundredth time that DS is worth every penny of a paid subscription.

When I hear Rodeo Clown (or if you will, Downed Bull Rider Injury Reduction Specialist) I think of that guy who lost his job and maybe his career over daring to wear Obum Boys Halloween mask.

Alexander Scipio's avatar

Just to be clear, the federal government can act constitutionally ONLY within the enumerated powers. These do NOT include abortion, entertainment, health care, foreign aid, education, housing, energy, general police powers, etc.

In short, EVERY controversial item Trump is eliminating had no constitutional foundation to begin with and is an unconstitutional usurpation of power by an out-of-control federal government. A republic under law would never have allowed these usurpations to begin with. Enforcing 10A is the *ONLY* way to “drain the swamp,” and ought to be the highest priority of every president and member of congress. A judicial branch acting extra-constitutionally to cause these usurpations to continue is acting outside its authority and must be ignored as lacking in the authority for that decision; it, too, is a part of the federal government limited by the enumerated powers.

Any member of congress submitting legislation outside the enumerated powers, or to attempt to overturn the Bill of Rights via legislation rather than amendment has violated their oath of office and, in a mature legislative branch, immediately would be expelled from office.

No one should give a rat’s ass about a federal judge unconstitutionally amending the constitution to expand the powers & authority of the federal government.

If the people want these things, they can amend the Constitution to delegate to the Feds these new powers. If the people don’t amend the Constitution to add powers to the federal government, then the people don’t want or agree with them, and we find ourselves in the position of the Founders, with a government that ought to be abolished, as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

RevMikeyMac's avatar

Amen. And much of this bloated BS started under Democrat FDR, with the makeshift work programs and the grand daddy boondoggle of them all, Social Security, which many Americans now believe is a sacrosanct right! They don't understand how their retirement investment dollars are being stolen from them by caring, helpful good ol' Uncle sam.

Skenny's avatar

I need to share a spreadsheet/amortization/calculator I developed to show the math behind Social Security. In summary, 50 years of paying into the system, including employer contributions, and based on a conservative rate of return of 4%, has resulted in the federal government being in possession of over $1million, while they are now trickling out to me about $3k per month. Ponzi schemes are illegal for all but government.

PM's avatar

Knew it was bad, Skenny . You just showed me how bad. Some say bitcoin is a much larger Ponzi than SS. In early 2014, they were $1 each.

Steve's avatar

It's worse than you think. I just asked this of Google AI: "What is the future value of the median social security contributions of an American worker over their lifetime, including employer portion, assuming an annual return of 5%?"

Google returns $2,582,675.

Plus eighty cents, if ya wanna nitpick. :)

At $3k/month, it would take over 860 months (almost 72 years) to get paid back. Not even counting the 5% on what's left after you start taking!

**5% is the traditional risk-free rate from B-school, at least before rates got stupid in the 2000's, and the average market return has been about 8% for the past 30 years.

darrell's avatar

Let’s dig up his body and burn it then scatter the ashes at alligator Alcatraz

Skenny's avatar

Hear, hear!!! Ninety-something percent of the federal government should be abolished, and ninety something percent of federal law should be repealed on the concept of enumerated powers. The "commerce clause" is anti-constitutional in many if not most of its applications. These abuses began over 200 years ago, so there is a lot of work to do to unwind them.

"Enumerated powers means those that were enumerated." - Skenny, Substack, 2024

Wim de Vriend's avatar

Upon reflection, to me the very best part of Don's Substack is not having to peruse our Lefty media goons' repellent regurgitations myself. Don faithfully bears that cross for us, and the reports of his ventures into enemy territory are constant reminders of that grand privilege.

Suzie's avatar

Amen! He is performing a truly invaluable service for us with each one of his articles! God forever bless him!

Vince Gallo's avatar

And they can’t even spell Constitution.

Suzie's avatar

What we are witnessing is the battle between the Actual Constitution vs. the democrats convenient idea of a constitution.

They have long despised the Constitution, as it stands as the chief and greatest impediment to their instituting the tyrannical government o’ their dreams.

They hate any rights that conflict with their political agenda.

Ultimately, they don’t want you to have any rights at all. Just do what you’re told, and maybe we won’t arrest you anyway, just because we can.

We saw what they did during Covid. They were drunk with power. And we the people put up with it way too much and for way too long. That was a sneak peek at what living in a “Constitution-free” country feels and looks like.

Our Constitution was rendered virtually null and void.

That’s the Democrats total modus operandi: destroy the Constitution. And that’s what all these lawsuits are about, a relentless flood, torturing and twisting of the law, all in opposition to our Constitution and the God given rights we all have enshrined in it.

We are engaged in a battle of us vs. them, our Constitutional Republic vs. their dream of a totalitarian utopia, their goal of goals being a country with no Constitution at all.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Our constitution is written in words the common people can understand and thus the reason for brainwashing the youth in pre-k thru masters degrees.

First let me say, David Letterman was an asshat. I never liked him and never watched him. He was brutal to Sarah Palin and specifically to her daughter. So when he left the air I lost nothing. Letterman was bitter because Jay Leno, who by the was is funny, got the Tonight Show. Colbert is an idiot. When he testified before congress he did it in his so called character from his previous show. I can't remeber the name of that show because I never watched it either. Leaving Colbert on the air until next May doesn't sound like CBS bent a knee to Trump. Had they been Colbert would already be in the unemployment line ala Tucker Carlson.

Next subject, I though the Supremes had decided that lower court judges could do this stuff anymore. Congress passed the law. Defund, defund, defund.......

TeaPartyGal's avatar

I agree, David Letterman was too caustic and negative, his "humor" basically consisted of just making continual snide remarks. My tolerance for that was 5 minutes max. Life is too precious to waste time listening to someone sneer at the world. I never could understand why anyone liked him and would sit thru an hour of that.

Suzie's avatar

They’re all like that. Look at Bill Maher too! They’re all so high on themselves, pontificating smug orations and haughty condescension.

It goes for the entire bunch of elitist Lefty crowd. They live in a bubble of self-affirmation and self-congratulation, with zero understanding or even interest in how real life or real people even operate.

And when reality does come a calling, they squeal like stuck pigs.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Amen, Suzie, and you're right--"They're all like that." And it culminated in the snobby, patronizing tone of the NPR hosts.

I think being "snide" and "cool" is what the Leftists have in place of actual happiness and joy. Most Leftists today are atheists. They don't realize it, but this has cut them off from actual gladness, which comes with the ability to recognize good and have gratitude for the Creator and his Creation. Spirituality comes with a sense of Light, and Lift. I can't even imagine what it would be like to live all the time WITHOUT that.

As you say, what they end up with instead is a sort of "group-based reinforcement system", or "mutual self-congratulatory feedback system" where they can at least snicker together with others and feel like they are superior to people outside the group (i.e., us on the Right).

So when we are trying to discuss politics with someone on the Left, we are also up against a deeper, psychological system they have developed, that depends on thinking they are "better" than those stupid, racist, MAGA people. So when we approach a liberal, we can't just bring reasoned arguments. We have to approach them with a sense of light and love--that to some degree feeds their real inner need for genuine uplift. Then they can open themselves a tiny bit in order to hear us.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

And thus the rightness of Jesus, when he said "Love your enemies". Our "enemies", incl. our political "enemies", are often stuck in a bad place spiritually. Approaching them with kindness and an underlying desire to "unloose the bonds of their captivity" is the way to penetrate the darkness that has them shackled.

Suzie's avatar

If someone wants to have a reasonable discussion or even a debate about an issue, I’ll be happy to have it. But every person living and breathing on this planet has access to the same information you and I have had in order to come to their own conclusions. What they do with that is on them, as it is on you and me for the choices we made based on said information.

Jesus was not fooled by the Pharisees. He knew they were bent on His destruction, that He threatened their power, their positions. He had no kind words for them and let them know in no uncertain terms what awaited them. Nicodemus was one of them who took His words and warnings to heart, but what he ever did with them we don’t know.

We’re here to seek out and speak and live the truth. If, in so doing, you come upon someone genuinely seeking truth and help them along the way, all the better. But the key word there is: genuinely. Otherwise, you may just be casting your pearls before swine.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Totally get what you're saying. We need to be prayerfully led to whom we reach out to, not indiscriminate.

But the prayer of "Loving your enemies" is not just some Pollyanna overlooking of the threat they pose. When we are alone, praying for the world, Loving your enemies IS the most direct and effective way to undercut the evil that has hold of them, because we see past it to, and strengthen, the real man God created, which evil can never obliterate.

There is a right balance between a keen alertness to evil's threat and destructiveness, and the spiritual discernment to pierce that seeming power that has entrapped many of our fellow citizens.

Jesus said be as "wise as serpents, and as innocent as doves". Genuine Love is not weak or excusing of evil--it destroys evil by realizing that right where evil claims to hold power, actually only God has power.

And as to the Pharisees, remember on the cross Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Agree 100% , if Colbert keeps running his mouth exposing Shari Redstone and company to more financial liability he may be gone sooner than next spring. One can hope .

Letterman's show at least had some redeeming features which, admittedly, anyone could have "hosted":

- Stupid Human Tricks

- Throwing stuff from roofs

- Musical guests

Brian Drexler's avatar

Don asks, "Is there nothing the First Amendment cannot do?" Apparently the only thing it can't do is protect people trying to exercise their right to petition the government on Jan 6.

Chuck Goldman's avatar

This brings up a point I’ve been interested in for a long time. By falling for the lies and election theft that keeps the d-rats, commies and lib-shits in power for decades past their best before dates we allow them to make laws, position various cadres and put stiffs into positions that span their ouster from the political power structure. All the while they are slowing or completely stopping progress by conservatives trying to rebuild America into the World Power it was meant to be.

Even if we eliminate 99% of their influence (like that’s even possible) there is always that 1% still grinding away putting out their leftist bullshit that over the years gets added to by another communist inspired election theft, so that we can never move forward full steam ahead!

That’s why the Democratic Party and its off shoots have to be destroyed root and branch, in the here and now!

Suzie's avatar

💯! We need to come to the clear understanding that they Do Not Think Like Us. They are literally a danger to the entire Constitutional project.

What the Democrats want, envision, and will go to any lengths to implement is not the same by any measure to what we want, what we understand, what we envision. It could not be any more stark.

They do need to be utterly crushed and never let anywhere near the levers of power again.

So, over the last 10 years, from the moment he announced his first run for the Presidency, and ever since, after having unleashed the very hounds of hell upon his every waking moment, up to and including two assassination attempts, not one shred of evidence of his having been some kind of pedophile as you assert has ever been brought to light by those utterly bent on his destruction?

Nice try.
