This might be the best 4th since 1776!

michael.wallace1776's avatar

No fourth will surpass July 4th 1863. Vicksburg surrendered and Lee headed south.

Jeremy R's avatar

The wins at Gettysburg and Vicksburg were awesome which makes the democrats platform to surrender to the south in 1864 baffling.

Don’t forget the Tullahoma Campaign in TN, where Rosecrans flanked Bragg clear out of the state.

Amen to doers and STFU to the talkers (ie. Congress).

Happy 249th America, and to you and yours Mr. Surber.

As for 'doing', can we now send a SWAT team to arrest Comey, Clapper, and Brennan? Showtime patriots! It is time for the "Big reveal" of corruption released under Obama.

We need to make the deep state a hell of a lot shallower.

Amy's avatar

Yes, it’s time to deal with those evil traitorous anti-American malodorous ugly SOB’s.

Cookie McCall's avatar

So Amy, tell us how you really feel about those guys!

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

No better time than now imho.

Shrugged's avatar

I forgot to add Cris Wray to the above-mentioned communist traitors for lying about, and covering up, the election interference from China in 2020. Wray is one of the deep staters who need a global “show trial” for treason.

How ironic that Wray’s corruption resulted in the GOAT Presidential comeback in 2024.

I hope Mr. Wray is sitting on his back deck at his Saranac Lake cabin getting eaten alive by the June black flies today.

Jeremy R's avatar

Add buffalo butt Barr to the list.

Deb Hill's avatar

I call him Bondo Bill because he was brought in to cover up the treason.

Shrugged's avatar

I have great respect for women who can talk ‘Bondo’.

Deb Hill's avatar

Lol, growing up on a farm, you learned to be a jack of all trades, master of none.

Shrugged's avatar

Yes, Fred Flintstone himself. Add him so I can see his smirks turn into fear.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

The well is deep but rope is cheap (er) so keep adding Shrugged as I want to see mandatory tved hangings of these bastards.

PM's avatar

Prefer a firing squad in the Rose Bowl, but that'll do.

CactusMatt32's avatar

Okay…. We’re gonna give youse guys 3 doors to chose from today - 1) Gitmo…nice tanning beach;2) El Salvador…excellent barbers; and 3) South Sudan….the good side Christian cow boys from the Dinkas. …free swim lessons; and South Sudan…cow boy Dinkas need some help.

Shrugged's avatar

I’ll take door #3, Mr. Hall.

Another alternative is to let them rake the beach at Alligator Alcatraz. Let them earn some money to buy their jailhouse smokes.

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Smoking allowed on fed property???

Estelle Chisholm's avatar

Can we also do something about the IRS baddies? Did I miss anything about this organization finally being cleansed? How about the CIA and FBI? Zip about the corruption that had reared its ugly head during the Biden regime! Now that the BBB has been passed, perhaps there is time to dig deeper in the massive corruption which has taken place in our government. Bill Barr is another one who should be investigated for his double dealings in Trump's first presidency. There are soooooo many along with the aforementioned Comey,

Clapper and Brennan. How about Garland? Majorkas?

Shrugged's avatar

Yes, absolutely, Estelle. You are more astute than most without forgetting all the previous issues.

Many are frustrated the newly placed cabinet members haven't 'cleaned the coop' so to speak. The fact is that the baddies are layers below them and they will have a long road to find them. That is why they are called the 'deep' state.

You are correct in your analysis. We can only hope it will be addressed.

And Georgia schools are going to teach cursive writing again this fall. The next thing you know, they’ll begin teaching civics again so that kids will answer correctly when asked what type of government we have. (Hint: not a democracy) yes, things are looking up. Maybe kids will go outside to play this summer! Without their phones!

LuAnn's avatar

I find iit shocking that cursive is a lost skill. Apparently learning multiplication tables is another lost skill.

Shrugged's avatar

Cursive disappeared with basic grammar, math facts, and critical thinking skills. There wasn’t enough time to teach the green agenda to scare kids jnto believing life on Earth only had 10 years left.

Joseph Kaplan's avatar

Maybe they’ll be left alone to choose up sides and play ball without adult interference. Just have fun. Maybe have a fight now and then. You know, be boys.

Tom McDonald's avatar

Excellent column.

Suzie's avatar

Message to Rand Paul and Thomas Massie: If Congress had joined you in your oh so pure theoretical “principles” and sunk the Big Beautiful Bill, where would America be today?

I’ll tell you where: poorer than ever before, crushed under insane, green regulations, living in a time bomb-ticking debt spiral doom-loop, with a wide open border in a country overrun by illegals. And as if that weren’t enough, to add to that all that misery heaped upon all American citizens, we would be having to watch and listen while the Democrat party took a raucous victory lap in their mission to tear this country down and rip it apart.

No, it is not a perfect Bill. There is much work yet to be done to set this ship of state right which will take years, perhaps decades.

But, just as our Revolutionary War 250 years ago was not won in one swift battle, this Bill has been the first shot at setting us on a new and revolutionary course, and, pray God in His mercy, will help rebuild all that is right, and good, and hopeful for every American now and in the future.

Suzie's avatar

P.S. Happy Re-Birthday America! Here’s to 250 more!! 🎂🇺🇸💥

Trump & Bessant have a plan - watch’em. Tariffs, rescissions, TBills to backup stablecoin, USd stablecoin can be owned by billions of people living in sh-thole countries w EU type currencies - demand for stablecoin USD as World reserve currency is gonna be Yuuuge!, no other nations have an economy like US, and now PDJT is gonna supercharge it…hold on to your hats….

What’s the best school for REALLY teaching you how to solve problems in the REAL world?

Seems the answer is: the School Of Hard Knocks one must go thru to be a developer of large buildings in NYC. (Helps if your dad was one too, and you grew up in Queens.)

This ain’t rocket surgery, kids!!

Curtis Sliwa for mayor of NYC

Shrugged's avatar

Real life learning (as most if us older folk know by now) only comes from boots-on-the-ground hands-on doing. But, mostly from fixing those mistakes we made along the way. We learn from mistakes which is why those who go through life with low risk tolerance afraid to try anything out of their comfort range end up as know-it-all back-benchers.

Trump learned the hard way. He is not a back-bencher. He KNOWS what he is doing.

Greg's avatar

Good decisions come from good experience. Good experience comes from bad decisions.

LuAnn's avatar

The biggest challenges I think that young people have is a fear of being wrong, a fear of risk, and a fear of trying something new. They are products of the safety culture, which is not a culture of doers. They are going to find out the hard way that life just isn't like that.

Shrugged's avatar

Yes, I think you’re right about that fear among youth as well as it’s cause. Teaching some ‘fear’ is good, but the overwhelming abundance of it over many decades produces people who wait to be told what to do. That doesn’t lend itself to functional independence and fruitful living.

Houdini Trooper's avatar

There is something I learned along the line of hands on. "Watch one, do one, teach one" that will get you in the right frame of mind to learn the right way.

Lawsy0's avatar

Curtis Sliwa for mayor of NYC. Dittos. Talk about someone who really and truly Loves New York.

Christopher's Eclectic as Hell's avatar

Don is quite right - "do" is the difference between Trump and just about every politician since Reagan. None of those people actually do anything, just chatter about it. Our ruling class loves to identify some problem (or better yet, a "crisis!"), wave some piece of paper around that no one reads (especially the person advocating for it), convinces 50% + 1 of their fellows to agree, then jumps in front of a camera, beating their chests saying "look at wonderful me, I have solved this problem!" Praise in the press follows, along with piles of political contributions, and reelection is secured.

Of course, nothing happens over the next couple of years or, more likely, the problem gets worse. The same twit then starts blaming everyone else for not doing anything and the cycle repeats. And that, my friends, is how government works. Trump's big sin is exposing this game.

LuAnn's avatar

I have enormous respect for all doers.

Back in 2004 I had a tenant who was a donk operative. She belonged to three or four local activist groups, two I remember wei"speak united" and " Manhattan for peace and justice "

They had weekly meetings in her living room.

She was disabled, problems from carpal tunnel surgery and donated lots of time to these groups.

The groups had the same bunch of people but each group had a different set of officers. They were regular speakers at local government meetings, I'm Mary and I represent forty members from speak United. I'm Joyce and I'm speaking for the forty members of Manhattan for peace and justice. Etc

In late summer of 2004, she was short on rent. I don't remember the excuse, she had section 8 and they paid their share, so it was like $100 . I agreed to wait for the rent.

The day after the election, when it was clear that republicans would retain control, she informed me that since that happened, she wouldn't have the money for the past due rent.

Her daughter said they had been counting on the democrats to win, then allocate money to the many organisations which would then have their warchests for the next two years.

Since Congress isn't doing their duty and passing a budget, those organisations automatically get their stipend with every continuing resolution.

I'm sure Mary pocketed thousands from renting her living room for those meetings and hosting their garage sales. The garage was packed full of trash they couldn't get sold and just left.

Keep this in mind, share this with friends so they understand why we need to get a budget.

You can be sure that the republicans in Congress are doing the same thing. Time to put an end to it.

Deb Hill's avatar

Plus 5 to 10% added to their budget.

Speaking of TV, the President's speech from Iowa last night was fabulous. This man is ALWAYS on his game. Just remarkable...

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

PDJT owns it every time he speaks and piss on the msm/dems.

They like taxes for the poll! Of course they do. They act like they’re fiscal conservatives, but no one in Congress is actually that. They are why we are $36 trillion in debt. It’s not taxpayers’ fault. So many good things all at once, it feels unbelievable that politics can actually move this fast when there’s somebody who means it at the helm. Happy 4th of July to all!!! The Founders smile from Heaven 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

William Coulter's avatar

In the poll I vote for they’re pompous assholes. That choice isn’t listed but that’s what they are.

Happy and safe 4th of July everyone!!

FJB hired 87,000 IRS agents -- WITH GUNS! -- to go after Americans.

CactusMatt32's avatar

And they bought up all the bullets for years….DOGE needs to find those federal warehouses and put that ammo on eBay….or on your tax return you can check a box and with paid taxes, you get 1000 rounds sent to your home.

Amy's avatar

That’s right, I’d forgotten about that!

Marlan Hoerer's avatar

Great memory of one big ass mistake America !!

Danimal28's avatar

This is the key:

"Trump just did it. He made no special favors and he punished no one. Instead, he solved the real problem: the tax was too damn high."

If you think about our government after 1960 there have been only four presidents who looked to actually solve problems rather than wage political shit: JFK, Nixon, Ronaldus, and Trump. And the Machine is still trying to take them down - not a good look.

My wise brother always reminds me that it took them 100 years to 'march through out institutions' and we are only 15 years into the turn(Tea Party, Trump, etc.). And is is accelerating quite nicely because people are aware of the propaganda...
