Indicting Trump is jumping the shark
It’s beginning to look a lot like Fitzmas. Again.
Democrats say they are about to indict President Trump — something they promised in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.
As Chris Rock told DC’s elitists at an awards fete at the JFK Center on Monday, “Are you guys really going to arrest Trump? Do you know this is only going to make him more popular? It’s like arresting Tupac. He’s just going to sell more records. Are you stupid?”
Axios reported that Democrats believe the case is too flimsy. The staff agrees with Chris Rock.
Its story said, “Many Republicans would like the party to move on from Trump, but the possibility of an indictment has led the GOP to rally around him.
“House Republicans sent a letter to [the prosecutor] on Monday, demanding that he testify in their newly launched investigation of his Trump probe.
“The GOP also is using the episode to try to energize its base, while Trump's campaign is citing the New York investigation in new fundraising emails.”
But Democrats are the Party of the Fonz out to prove their toughness. They are going to waterski over the sharks and indict Trump. Na-na-na-na-na.
I am laughing. Democrats have juiced up their true believers for so long that even if they indict him now, anything short of murder will be a let down. It is Fitzmas all over again.
You remember Fitzmas. In 2006, lefties convinced themselves that special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald — the Fitz in Fitzmas — was going to indict Karl Rove and Dick Cheney, and maybe even George Bush for outing Valerie Plame as a spy. Visions of perp walks and frog marches danced in their heads.
The investigation was over one paragraph in a column by Robert Novak about Joe Wilson’s claim that the White House sent him to Niger to find out if Saddam Hussein was buying uranium.
Novak wrote, “Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an agency operative on weapons of mass destruction. Two senior administration officials told me that Wilson’s wife suggested sending him to Niger to investigate the Italian report. The CIA says its counter-proliferation officials selected Wilson and asked his wife to contact him. ‘I will not answer any question about my wife,’ Wilson told me.”
Democrats twisted this into outing a spy, which is a crime. The charge was as bogus as any claim to virginity by Stormy Daniels. In fact, in Joe Wilson’s bio in Who’s Who, he said she worked at the CIA.
But James Comey appointed Fitzgerald as a special counsel (you read that right) and after Novak named the names of those two officials, Fitzgerald spent a year looking for someone to indict. He got Scooter Libby — Cheney’s chief of staff — indicted for lying, much to the disappointment of lefties as well as truth, justice and the American way.
What a joke. Lefties were let down. Righties were vindicated. A surrogate was punished.
Fitzgerald’s witch hunt was worthy of Cotton Mather. Naturally. Fitz is a bully. When with DOJ, Fitzgerald specialized abuse of power. He sent Conrad Black to prison over a business deal gone bad. Fitz also imprisoned Rod Blagojevich just for saying he would accept a bribe to appoint Obama’s replacement in the Senate. No bribe was tendered.
President Trump pardoned Black and Libby, and commuted Blagojevich’s sentence. Justice delayed is still justice.
But Fitzmas helped lefties because by investigating this spurious scandal, Democrats and RINOs perfected a tool to use against a Republican president who actually tries to preside over the deep state.
Step one: Create a scandal. Obama simply used Hillary’s piss-poor opposition research on President Trump to create Russiagate.
Step two: Whip the press into a frenzy until it is nice and frothy. Let set.
Step three: Con or blackmail a RINO attorney general into appointing a special counsel to CYA.
Place the whole shebang in a leaky sieve and serve it to the public.
The result is a nice, fluffy and colorful nothing burger that the media will serve every night for the rest of the Republican presidency.
Which brings us to President Trump whom Democrats have persecuted for six long years. Democrats convened a grand jury in Georgia over a phone call he made to the secretary of state regarding the election. Shocking, ain’t it?
That Fitzmas fizzled when Emily Kohrs, the forewoman of the grand jury, went public and revealed herself to be a seething anti-Trumper. But she claims she did not vote in 2020. If I am Trump’s lawyer, I would check her voting record.
CNN reported, “Kohrs is cagily answering questions, teasing that the special grand jury may have recommended charges for Trump and saying she hopes something comes of it all.
“Her identity as the foreperson was first revealed by The Associated Press, and in addition to the AP, she has, in short order, done interviews with The New York Times, NBC News, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and CNN.
“The former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman said on CNN on Wednesday that prosecutors have got to be ‘consternated’ that a potential jury pool could be contaminated by Kohrs’ ‘odd 15 minute PR tour.’”
Her 15 minutes of fame (which Andy Warhol predicted everyone will have) could cost the prosecutor the case.
Salon reported, “Legal experts raised concerns after the forewoman of the Georgia special grand jury that investigated former President Donald Trump's efforts to overturn his loss gave multiple media interviews revealing details about the probe.”
Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig said, “It's a prosecutor's nightmare. Mark my words, Donald Trump’s team is going to make a motion if there’s an indictment to dismiss that indictment base on grand jury impropriety. She's not supposed to be talking about anything, really.
“But she’s really not supposed to be talking about the deliberations. She’s talking about what specific witnesses they saw, what the grand jury thought of them. She says some of them we found credible, some we found funny. I don’t know why that's relevant, but she’s been saying we found this guy funny or interesting. I think she’s potentially crossing a line here. It’s gonna be a real problem for prosecutors.”
That was last month. No indictments.
Speaking of no indictments, what happened to that Raid on Mar-a-Lago by the FBI’s Delta Team/Special Forces? They told the media he had nuclear codes and the like. It turned out to be memorabilia from his presidency that the anti-Trump acting head of the National Archive demanded he give her.
That was last August. Then in January we discovered Biden had classified documents all over the place — including a Chinese-financed center at Penn. Trump finally moved on the raiders of lost constitution on Monday.
Fox reported, “Former President Trump’s legal team is demanding the National Archives and Records Administration turn over documents that they say will expose the ‘highly politicized’ agency for attempting to criminalize a civil dispute over classified materials in an ‘unconstitutional and unprecedented weaponization of the Presidential Records Act.’
“Attorneys representing the former president in the special counsel investigation into his alleged mishandling and improper retention of classified records — James Trusty, Lindsey Halligan and Evan Corcoran — filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the National Archives and Records Administration on Monday.”
Trusty said, “What we expect to find are highly-politicized bureaucrats who worked in tandem with DOJ and politicians to criminalize a dispute that never has had criminal implications. We're confident that a substantive response to our demands from NARA will firmly establish a different and politicized treatment of President Trump.”
The deep state openly treated Trump as less than a president. Its behavior was seditious, unconstitutional and a coup against the election of a man as president after the wimp Obama who let the deep state run the country. His reward is a net worth that soared by $150 million through various post-presidency sweetheart deals.
Trump lost a billion dollars in net worth. They want to ruin him.
Alvin Bragg, the DA in Manhattan — who allows violent criminals to roam the streets unchallenged — told Trump to expect an indictment on Tuesday. Trump told the world. Tuesday passed without an indictment.
Maybe there will be an indictment later today or tomorrow or next week.
But when Bragg invited Trump to appear before the grand jury under oath and without a lawyer, I figured the DA was desperate for something — anything — to hang on Trump. The president stepped over that trap like it was dog doo.
Too bad for Bragg that Trump doesn’t have a Scooter.
The fascists keep telling us no one is above the law.
But they leave out the caveats “except Hillary, except Hunter, except the Obamas, except the FBI, and except anyone who visited Epstein Island.”
There is some overlap.
I must remind readers that the Fonz jumped the shark in Season 5 of Happy Days. The show continued for 6 more seasons.
6 more seasons of Fitzmas.
