Precisely and BINGO! This latest stupidity on Grok is merely proof that anything that man creates is subject to imperfection. To believe that somehow we have come up with a means or method to avoid that inescapable conclusion only shows that mankind is, at its core, "deceitful and desperately wicked" and willing to believe any lie that suits its perverted purposes.
“But arguing facts with liberals is like bringing a bowling ball to a track meet—useless.” In fact during FJB’s campaign for the WH in 2019 he famously stated the motto of the Marxist/Democrat/Hate America Party: “We choose truth over facts!” Could there possibly be a more evil concept?
"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence". John Adams
Antitheists and creationists look at the same evidence and come up with opposing "facts". We must be diligent in our placing of trust. Look at the things RFK is revealing about HHS and what they have done to our nation
07/07/25: The script probably read "We choose facts over truth!" and blabbering Biden goofed it, then continued with, "Look away from the teleprompter at the audience."
A humorous memoir about the 1930's, "Just Around The Corner," by Robert Bendiner (1909-2009); Harper & Row (1967) has a delightful chapter about all of the splinter political parties that spouted like mushrooms during that decade.
Do read it and know more about what's going to happen to Elon Musk than he'll even know even after it happens!
If he thinks he's invulnerable, remind him that Shari Redstone --- before CBS became the mistress of insolvency --- once had $40 billion dollars in the bank.
There’s an old joke that the fastest way to lose a million dollars is to buy a restaurant. Musk may be about to change it to forty billion and politics.
07/07/25: This would be ideal. He'd be busy setting up 40,000 restaurants and out of Trump's hair he'd go. Trump might even chip in! We'd also have to hire 6,000 new restaurant critics to replace the ones that Musk would kill off with his food, and the unemployment rate would drop to next to nothing because 1,000 of the each succeeding 6,000 critics would be keeling over like clockwork.
And to quote Reagan, "it's not that they don't have the facts, it's that their facts are wrong."
Better to love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind, then love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. Give today's structure of self hatred, love your neighbor MORE than yourself.
This flash flood is an unspeakable tragedy especially for the families who have lost their young daughters. There are plenty of others who have been affected and many of our TX counties have been declared disaster areas. The wall of water rose some 26’ in less than an hour. No one can predict something like that. Thank God the Coast Guard had the planes with night vision and the heat seeking ability to work day & night to come to the rescue
AI is good for game playing when you need facts (or at least facts that aren’t political). Like what years did Nadal win the French Open. But we’ve all been on high alert for years that every internet source is wildly left-leaning. And now Grok. Careful Elon, MAGA is a lot stronger than you. It is not us who need you. It’s you who need us. No one believes this 3rd party stunt is about fiscal responsibility. It’s about Trump yanking your EV subsidies and tax breaks. Bye Felicia.
I believe it is about fiscal responsibility, but that is getting lost in his mudslinging. Let’s not oversimplify to the point of error, as the left so often does. Elon knew the EV subsidies were on the table, but objected to unionized Detroit getting subsidies, while the non-union manufacturers are forced to sink or swim on their own. I don’t know the right approach, but I know that he gave a lot to try to get the government on a better fiscal footing. Unfortunately, that can’t be fixed as quickly as he would like. Even more unfortunately, neither Elon nor our president exercise much self-control when it comes to social media.
I would love some fiscal responsibility but after decades of Congress serving themselves instead of us, I don’t have a lot of hope. Elon did a great thing saving Twitter and free speech, wrestling it from Dem govt control, and then with DOGE. Full credit where credit is due. And I agree unions should not be subsidized by govt. I’m not against his idea, but he could have gone a lot further with it with Trump rather than against him. Billions have been cut and billions more will be made from the tariffs. DC is the center of sausage making and it will take time to continue fiscal responsibility. I think Vance can do it.
I am with you on this. Like you, I wish Elon had continued working within, rather than attacking from outside. I think his unstable personality is the price of genius, and social media makes everything worse. I am also hoping that Vance can continue the work, but we need to keep everyone on board. That will be very difficult as some voters feel the pain of a fiscal realignment, while Dems will undoubtedly promise more free stuff.
Dems are a little backed into a corner on "free stuff," and now that they give taxpayer money away to illegal immigrants, there's nowhere to turn. They always pivot and the media is in lockstep to please their corporate masters, but I would think most independents are against taxpayers paying for illegals. Agree on Elon & unstable personality being the price of genius.
GROK seems to be like Wikipedia -- it depends exclusively on "reliable sources", every single one if which is at least "left-leaning", many of which are hard-left. Texas Tribune is not "Center, balanced but contextually left-leaning in conservative Texas." It has been hard-left for decades.
I have to admit I have never heard of the Texas Tribune before reading today's column. I am a little wary of the title, sort of expansive you know. I would recommend the Cowboy State Daily from Wyoming. Very informative and pretty neutral.
re: Grok. Most things I look up on the Web cannot be phrased in two or three words, and I have embraced AI, since questions can be posed in a conversational manner. ChatGPT was worthless; a quick test demonstrated it to be Woke to the maximum, constantly lecturing - and worse, completely wrong at least 1/4th of the time. Grok, though not cheap, has proven much better, but misses the mark, too. Don't put too much faith in any of their answers. At least not yet.
re: Musk. His brain has a lot in common with one of those overclocked computers of the 'nineties - it runs on the ragged edge of sanity most of the time, but for that risk humanity gets a raftload of benefits, so I try to give him the benefit of the doubt. I do understand how frustrated he must be, having donated so much time away from his businesses to spearhead DOGE to only have its work pissed away by continued drunken-sailor spending by congress and the president.
re: Trump. Having recent read Machiavelli's "The Prince," I understand that a ruler cannot tolerate a loudmouthed opponent. Having said that, although I'm squarely on the president's side, I am also disturbed by his capacity to turn on old friends when they dare to "contrary" him. Lots to unpack here. Personally, I hope Musk returns to running his companies and leaves politics alone.
I am concerned that Musk has had a "taste" and wants more. As far as his copanies go, I'd like to run every Tesla of the road. EV's are hazardous waste. IMHO
I actually have a little electrical expertise. Electric vehicles have some real advantages: the motors are very powerful for their weight, and since they produce full torque right from stall speed, they require no transmission, saving tremendous weight.
The second part of the equation - the need for controllers to handle the large currents required for nimbly handling that much power - is now also in place.
That's two out of three. The third - batteries that match the power density of fossil fuels - is a long way from where it needs to be. An internal combustion engine, assuming a 15:1 air/fuel ratio, only needs to carry 1/16th of the weight of chemicals required, since it pulls oxygen from the ambient air and dumps combustion products right back out again. In aircraft it's especially important, since as it flies it gets lighter, too.
I would like to see diesel/electrics. We know they work marvelously; if you don't believe it, watch them pull 100 train cars sometime. I don't know why we don't have them. They can stick the lithium batteries where ... you know....
My concern for lithium batteries is they are a hazard. If they catch fire it is nearly impossible to extinguish it. Disposal is a huge problem as once they are spent, they are useless. Never mind the virtual slave labor employed to mine the lithium.
I know a little about diesel electric as it can also push a submarine. Primary propulsion may be nuclear these days however when the reactor scrams, the diesel is put on line. WWII subs were all electric. That’s why the shipyard in Groton, Connecticut is named Electric Boat. I don't know what the battery compartment looks like today but back when I was riding boats it was a pretty good sized space. I ran the generator, which charged the batteries, which turn the shaft and the screw(s). I am no engineer but I know enough to understand what you're talking about. A submarine sailor has to know how everything on that boat works. Since it was an entirely self-contained unit there was a lot to learn. One had to learn, atmosphere control, air compression, propulsion, electrical, mechanical, navigation, weights and measures, sonar system, weapons systems, everything. Subs also fly just like an airplane, it just a denser fluid but the control surfaces work exactly the same. When you see a sailor wearing dolphins you know that sailor knows everything about his/her boat and most other submaries as well.
Limited government, and less spending have been the two pillars of the Conservative/ Republican Party from the start.
Trump wisely ran as a Conservative Republican rather than as a third party because he knew that was the runway for success, by fixing it from within, though not without huge pushback from the party itself. His whole agenda was simply founded upon bringing the party back into alignment with its original purpose and policies. And that brought him enormous opposition from within the party itself, which he has been battling against for the last 10+ years, for it exposed the corrupt-o-crats within it, the Ryan’s, the McConnells, and all their ilk. The entire Never Trumpers clan are expat, fake Republicans.
I’m sure Elon’s party will attract them plus many Democrats embarrassed by their party’s ever increasing lunacy.
But it is a fools errand. It will never be a success, but it could very well result in, at the least, prolonging or , at worst, devastating any chance this country has at setting the ship of state aright.
For such a smart guy, he’s acting very, very dumb.
Ross Perot's run devastated the Republicans, not the Democrats. I suspect Musk's new party - if it has any success at all - may do the same. Sure hope not.
Aw, I LOVE to argue - and the nice thing about arguing with conservatives is that it's about the topic itself instead of "Trump Is Hitler!" so there's that....
Gingrich and the Contract With America were IMHO a real high point. Unfortunately, the Republican Congress overplayed their hands, doing stuff like passing FEDERAL laws specific to one person, viz, Terri Schiavo. That kind of government overreach never plays well and while I may have agreed with most of their positions, their arrogance Really Pissed Me Off. Of course a lot of other people felt that way, and the Contract With America was for the most part relegated to the proverbial dustbin of history. Gingrich is still one of my favorite people; too bad so many of his colleagues did not rise to his level.
I did vote for HRP in '92. It may have split the GOP vote putting Clinton in office. However, Mr Surber explained the ultimate outcome of the election. Clinton turned out to be more of a republican than any democrat since Kennedy and further back.
I voted for Perot too and don’t regret it. Bush 1 was not any better than Clinton. I didn’t like either of them and really liked Perot. He would have been what Trump is, just a bit quieter.
Camp Mystic is my daughter's camp. She was there last as a counselor to the youngest girls in 2022. Dick Eastland, who co-owned the camp with his wife and who died trying to save some of his girls, was a friend.
To see the campers, their counselors and the staff described on X and in blog posts as rich, white, Red State Christians who somehow deserved their fate is beyond mind-bending. These people seem to have lost all sense of common humanity. When I read comments like that, I realize how Communists in the Soviet Union and China and Nazis in Germany were able to kill huge numbers of their fellow men without conscience or pity.
May God provide comfort to you, your daughter and others that grieve. Several of my Texas prayer group friends were directly affected by this tragedy. I read Mr. Eastland's grandson's instagram post--what a wonderful remembrance of a good man.
Those that use this opportunity to post lies and hate should be shamed.
Trump, through EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, is repealing the environmental "Endangerment Finding of 2009" which hopefully will kill the disastrous solar and wind boondoggles and restore cheap carbon which helps our food supply.
I think Musk is going to find out--the hard way--that starting a political party is a lot harder than starting a business. As I said in a comment a few days ago, he has tremendous power over his companies; he will not have that kind of power in a political organization. He could find himself surrounded by a bunch of prima donnas who don't agree with him or each other. And the first trick he'll have to pull off will be getting people actually on the ballots--in most states, both parties have made that very hard for newcomers.
I do give him some credit for thinking in terms of gaining a few seats in Congress first, rather than running someone for president. It is a waste of time and money to run somebody for president if you have little or no base in Congress--even if they win, they won't be able to get anything passed, or even get appointees confirmed. That's why I have had no use for the Libertarians or the Greens ever since they started. But he might be better off taking an even longer view and starting with local governments.
One other possibility...the pundits are assuming Musk's new party would pull support from the Republicans. I think it is just as likely to wreck the Democrats. What passes for leadership in the Democrat Party has gone so far left that a lot of their voters are upset with them. They're living in an upper-class college-educated bubble, and ignoring the working class. That's why Trump has made such inroads with the blue-collar workers, the Hispanics, and even the blacks. If the non-Trumpers in those groups are drawn to Musk's party and leave the Democrats, it will be curtains for the Dems.
I agree with Scott Bessent. Musk should stick with rockets and let treasury do what he knows how to do. PDJT is doing a great job. Musk has turned into a spoiled brat who needs to be put in time out!
Musk is a builder, a problem solver, a fixer full of desire to lift up humanity. Five years ago, he was slightly left leaning and totally naive about politics. The Left does not build. It destroys. Mostly it consumes what others have created but will definitely destroy what it cannot consume or pervert. That clash of objectives made Builder Musk a Lefty target. Attacks from the Left drove him towards conservative politics and Trump. Now that he has seen the nitty-gritty corruption and inefficiency of politics from the inside, his builder/fixer juices are flowing. Ergo, he thinks forming an alternative party is the means to fix things in DC. Unfortunately, he is still politically naive. His new party, like the Libertarian Party, will only succeed in electing more Democrats. He needs an education in political realities. Let us pray he gets one before he becomes part of the destroying sector of politics.
Elon needs to know the difference between NTers and those with TTDS is exactly zero, total losers who never won a thing but have the grandiose visions of atheists.
I’ve found that Alexa, Google, Wikipedia et al all have a left bias because that’s where they get their research. You notice they never use Breitbart or any conservative publications for their research? That’s how they’re programmed. So, once again, Don proves that critical thinking is our best bet if we want to get to the truth, and they obviously stopped teaching that in the ‘70’s!
The threat of AI is people taking it for being ”gospel truth”.
But, if anyone has learned anything over the past 20+ years, after realizing how captured and corrupt our MSM is, should take heed.
The entire birth of Alternative media was a result of countering the lies and falsities constantly being vomited by the legacy media. AI should be treated in the exact same way: do your own research, do your own thinking.
AI is a machine, operated by people. Hence, highly fallible.
"Newt and Clinton actually balanced the budget . . ."
Uhm, no. The Treasury Department reported budget deficits every single year of Clinton's term in office. There was no budget surplus, and the national debt went up every year.
Read all about the Clinton Budget Surplus Myth here:
When I first came across this, I checked the Treasury links and they showed exactly what Steiner shows. If you look for those figures now, you won't find them. Someone "fixed" Treasury's web site.
Thank you for these links. I had bought into the lie until reading them. It is shameful that this lie has been able to persist in the media for the last two decades.
There is a song titled "everything you know is wrong". I'm not meaning you, I'm meaning all the stuff we get fed by the internet. How long until Steiner gets swallowed? I haven't tried, but I'd bet his articles don't show up when you Google Clinton's budget.
The money changers don't want the masses informed. Knowledge is power and they fear it.
Grok and all AI are not thinking brains. They are nothing more super aggregators regurgitating whatever crap is on the internet. The left is using it by flooding the internet with garbage.
If enough people posted that the sun sets in the east, Grok would repeat the lie.
Morons.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Any system, or tool, is only as good as the person(s) charged with operating it.
1 John 4:1
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
Amen Suzie. Also, any system is only as good as those who built it. Both the building and the operating leave massive areas of incompetence, stupidity and negligence wide open.
💯!
AI is like the building of the Tower of Babel!
Artificial idiocy.
The next Ponzi scheme .
Apparently some Greg’s think alike. I never met a Greg I liked until now. 😎
Thanks. But don't get too close. I am a "Greg"
It’s 2025 and we still can’t fix stupid.
Never could. We only have given stupid a voice on how to use your success.

The results of having state [ gov.] nannies raise your children.
The result of banishing GOD from schools. Another reason to get rid of the department of education.
Yes ! A concept totally foreign to the Dim hive , uhh I mean mindset .
AMEN
It is a meaningless phrase. He could have said "we choose facts over truth" and it would mean the same thing. Nothing.
Kinda like when the comment of the week was, FJB being "sharp as a tack"!
Is that why his entire White House staff sat on him?
Well, when you throw tack on a horse, if it sharp you get bucked off.

Grok is good for analyzing your latest lab report or explaining what your doctor meant when he told you you had xyz what to do about it.
It can write a reasonably good essay if you know how to jazz it up. Otherwise it just regurgitates left wing talking points.

Ah. Austin. That explains it.
The Trib is at every grocery store checkout counter here in central Texas.

Yeah. Just like the Enquirer, but maybe with better table manners.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend, who was a great guy
That this woman is a pediatrician is beyond shocking.

Unemployed last I heard 👏 .
Hopefully as an MD for the rest of her life.
John,
May God provide comfort to you, your daughter and others that grieve. Several of my Texas prayer group friends were directly affected by this tragedy. I read Mr. Eastland's grandson's instagram post--what a wonderful remembrance of a good man.
Those that use this opportunity to post lies and hate should be shamed.
This is the result of communistic mis-education for the last 50 + years and I am sorry for your loss and the loss of all in this disaster.
Great summary, Don.
Trump, through EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, is repealing the environmental "Endangerment Finding of 2009" which hopefully will kill the disastrous solar and wind boondoggles and restore cheap carbon which helps our food supply.
Reuters, like the Associated Press, the ChiCom News Network (CNN) & all the alphabet media outlets, are not reliable news sources. They routinely LIE.
Didn’t Arkansas’ peckerwood balance his budget by destroying America’s military and NOT by a reduction in spending?
…And the CBO has the same track record as Paul Krugman.
No, he did it the old fashioned way, he lied about it. The destruction of the military was just him being true to his draft dodger roots.

Thanks for the links.
