How dare Americans not cheer for a team that hates the country

The big news in sports this weekend was Cleveland Indians, I mean Guardians, radio announcer Tom Hamilton telling fans about the fight at second base between Tim Anderson of the White Sox and José Ramírez, who dropped Chicago’s shortstop with a right hook to the jaw.

Hamilton’s call was “They’re fighting! They’re swinging! Down goes Anderson! Down goes Anderson!”

In girls’ soccer news, the detestable USWNT lost to Sweden on a missed penalty kick by the detestable Megan Rapinoe. Down goes the Alphabet Team! Down goes the Alphabet Team!

Real Americans cheer the news that these detestable people will no longer represent our great nation on the world stage. They are crass, ignorant and disrespectful. When one of their players scored a goal against Britain’s team in England a few years ago, she faked drinking a cup of tea.

The team rallied the world against them because they are mean, petty and obnoxious. In other words, liberals.

Matt McDonald wrote, “The U.S. women were already widely disliked internationally for appearing cocky — many fans hadn’t forgotten their wild over-celebrations of the thirteen goals they put past Thailand at the start of the last World Cup. The Fox Soccer promotional adverts promoting the tournament didn’t exactly help matters — with actors hamming it up to play national stereotypes of the U.S.’s chief rivals brainstorming ideas to beat America.

“‘The entire world is gonna do whatever it takes to stop the US,’ one woman says.

“‘Good luck with that,’ replies Alex Morgan to camera.”

Sweden beat ’em and eliminated them 5-4. Down go Fox Sports ratings! Down go Fox Sports ratings!

AP said, “U.S. goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher fruitlessly argued she had saved Hurtig’s attempt, but it was ruled over the line by VAR. The stadium played Abba’s Dancing Queen in the stadium as the Swedes celebrated and the U.S. players sobbed.”

The game was played in Australia, not Sweden. But we were all Swedes at that moment.

But wait. There’s more. Alex “Good luck with that” Morgan told AP, “Just devastated. It feels like a bad dream. The team put everything out there tonight. I feel like we dominated, but it doesn’t matter. We’re going home and it’s the highs and lows of the sport of soccer. So, yeah, it doesn’t feel great.”

USWNT players were bullies in girls’ soccer whose lack of patriotism was matched by their lack of skills. At the height of their dominance of the distaff side of soccer, they lost a match to a middle-school boys in Dallas. I will call it a women’s sport when they can beat the boys.

Of course disrespecting the Star Spangled Banner was the most detestable of their acts because it was so hypocritical. If the USA is such an awful place, why were these people representing them on the world stage?

But that was just marketing, the one thing USWNT is good at. They get more publicity than the men’s team. Despite the outsized promotion, the men over the years drew far greater fans and revenue.

Then again, the men stand up for our national anthem because they really do represent America on the world stage, not just themselves and the products they endorse.

The sports press went all Greta Thunberg (“How dare you!”) over patriots now enjoying the agony of defeat suffered by the anti-American USWNT.

Newsweek reported, “Megan Rapinoe's Penalty Miss Celebrated by Conservatives: ‘So Glad.’”

After quoting various conservative celebratory tweets, the story ended, “Newsweek has contacted the USWNT for comment via email.”

TMZ lectured MAGA Americans on patriotism.

Its story said, “actively rooting against your own country's team feels like a step too far and yet, it was happening en masse this weekend. Sad times.”

Tell me about it.

After decades of falsely accusing conservatives of hiding behind the flag, liberals are actually hiding behind the flag.

Hillary tweeted, “I’m forever proud of our USWNT. This team will come back better and stronger, because that’s what American women do.”

Arrogant, disrespectful, entitled, and rude — the team is her mirror image. And USWNT’s crash was just like Hillary’s 2016 campaign. Maybe Rapinoe will blame Russian interference in her book, too.

While Democrats including Biden and his fake doctor wife heaped praise on these unlovable losers, President Trump cut to the chase, posting, “The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women's Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden.

“Many of our players were openly hostile to America—No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.”

It’s a Kaepernick-Griner world where athletes get Nike deals and other product endorsements for showing contempt for our country. But when they run into trouble overseas, they demand that Uncle Sam bail them out.

The loss was not shocking or unexpected. It was comical and predictable.

In his piece, which I will link again, McDonald said, “events since the last tournament have seen the USWNT’s popularity decline domestically. First it was the team’s complaints and lawsuits about the pay disparity between them and the men’s team. Will Cain broke down the economics of the differences back in 2019 — then found himself quoted out of context and smeared at this year’s ESPYs.

“The team also came under fire for not singing the national anthem enthusiastically enough or, in some cases, at all.

“Add to that Rapinoe’s decision to embrace her role as a culture-war lightning-rod: the purple-haired winger was a constant and vocal critic of the Trump administration, who knelt in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.

“More recently, she’s drawn fire for endorsing trans women competing in women’s sports — perhaps an indicator that her role as an advocate for the LGBTQIAA+ community is more important to her than standing up for her fellow female athletes.”

That last item drew derision from Piers Morgan, who tweeted, “On a positive note, Ms. Rapinoe wants to pack the USWNT with biological males, so they should win everything going forward.”

Back to sports, Ramírez knocked down Anderson but Hamilton won the fight by reminding the world that it is just a game. Every baseball fan believes his radio announcer is the best in the business but Hamilton deserves extra credit for carrying the burden of not slipping and calling the Cleveland Indians anything but the Guardians.

The players will be suspended but Hammy, as they call him, will be revered for saying, “Now Josey and Anderson square off! They’re fighting! They’re swinging! Down goes Anderson! Down goes Anderson!”

Down goes Rapinoe! Down goes Morgan! Down go the tears of the unpatriotic girls’ team!

Drink up, conservatives, because we have met the enemy and they are ours.
