He was OK until the Obamacare decision. He initially was going to vote to strike it down but switched at the last moment (with tears in his eyes) - infuriating the conservative justices. So, it does appear that they have some on him. I've read some of the rumors - but they're just rumors

John Roberts has done nothing illegal to trigger any type of investigation but patterns of behavior certainly suggest something may be amiss with him, and YES, it is just a theory.

Robert's flip flop on Obamacare - saying it was a tax - was ludicrous. He did a switch-up a while serving under a president of nefarious actions behind the scenes within our government. Then, there have been the odd circumstances of the adoption of his kids. Both events rank at the top of the suspicious list. He also seems to be grooming ACB (despite her ONE decent vote this week the birthright case) to be a George Bush moderate instead of the conservative we thought we were getting. I guess a moderate is better than a Jackson leftist who ignores the Constitution. Frankly, Jackson's dissent should lead to an impeachment or other removal action as she demonstrated she will NOT follow the Constitution.

Expand full comment
tj's avatar

I was basing my comment on patterns, not hard evidence. It just seems like his voting went wonky a couple yrs after he and his wife adopted and the kids were foreign born if I remember right which is always fraught. I wish the Roberts the best but I wish he voted better or more consistent? Instead of all over the place trying to thread a needle that doesnt work.

I hope that Thomas takes over from him, not ACB. ACB ~ you are correct seems to be going the way of a Bush judge and not more of a Constitutional one. I was shocked to see 5 others sign on to her lamblasting Jackson. Although it might be Jackson is wearing on all their nerves. I cant listen to her for more than a min. She has less sense than my neighbor's yippy dog.

Although some of her decisions are still suspect, it’s a shame that Barrett has to share the stigma of being a DEI hire with that communist nitwit. At least they share only one of two DEI attributes – although the other one says she doesn't know what it is.

She, like Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, have forgotten what got them to the Supreme Court, their conservative, Constitutionalist principles.

#2 Trump & Bondi have been goading Roberts/SCOTUS to get their house in order. Taking "above the fray" postures is a traditional judge/justices attitude. That does not work in today's judicial world. But it seems the weak-kneed SCOTUS conservatives have finally received the message and acquired some guts. We have three inept lefty/lawyers masquerading as SCOTUS justices who rule based solely on ideological grounds. Until now, they have been allowed to play significant roles in the name of congeniality. Apparently, that's over. Roberts and the conservative-lite justices joined the fray this week yelling, "Enough!" Bravo to them. As Don points out, Barrett's slam on Jackson was left in the opinion by design. The slam serves as a declaration of war and marginalization of the Lefty women. #28. Pelosi has her panties in a knot over the ex-USS Harvey Milk being renamed. Milk, always described as a gay activist, represents another San Francisco Lefty fable. Pelosi, Feinstein, and others have been selling that fable since 1978. Reality: He was most ardent as a promoter of child molesting. He was shot and killed by a former police officer who thought Milk was scum. Diane Feinstein used the killing of Milk and SF Mayor Moscone to launch her national political career and acquire her fortune. Sec. Pete Hegseth is correcting a public fraud.

36. My father was 28 when he married my then 18 year old mother. They were the closest in age compared to my many aunts and uncles.

Males generally are not mature mentally until their mid to late 20's. Girls OTOH mature earlier and by their late 20's are pretty set in their ways.

Throughout history the norm has been that a man established himself and proved he could carry the burden of a family before being allowed to marry.

Today we have millions of mothers living on welfare with deadbeat dads fathering a generation of children that will never know them.

Feel good headline of the day. Another: Karmelo Anthony may be returned to custody after a Collin County grand jury charged him with first-degree murder on Tuesday. Now that the indictment is in place, the case will be assigned to a district judge who could overturn a controversial decision by a magistrate to reduce Anthony's bond from $1 million to $250,000. Justice not yet served, but here’s a menu-odds are there is nothing left of his $500,000 Give-Send-go.
