“The study’s authors recommend that policymakers, cities and providers ensure that disaster relief is accessible and given without discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.”

But not if you have a Trump sign in your yard.

EODMom's avatar

It seems that these are people who can afford to live in the most elite and expensive areas in the country. They definitely don't want anyone interfering in their special lives. They should not need any financial aid.

And if the infrastructure is poor it’s a result of policies they themselves have voted for. Oh well.

04/13/26: The premise --- "Same-Sex Couples Face Higher Climate Change Risks" --- was so preposterous, I found it impossible to read any further than the opening sentence of the column. For which I apologize.

Kathy Christian's avatar

Evidently climate change doesn't affect Trump supporters.

William Robinette's avatar

I guess I have a different interpretation of this. The first thing that comes to mind is ‘Natural Selection’ is at work. Problem solved.

Science with a political agenda. The only way to replicate study is with a Xerox machine.

Darwin was correct.

Jason Leonard's avatar

This. This is the shit our tax dollars are being wasted on.

Someone actually thought, I bet the gays are victims - global warming this time.

Then someone said, hey, that sounds pretty interesting. Here's a million dollars of federal grant money.

Then some grad students jumped on board because they wanted their name on the abortion of a research project.

And then, then, some scientific rag actually published it.

We're all more stupid for having seen it.

Valoree Dowell's avatar

Yes. Took the words right out of my mind. Imagine if these people had families to raise, a house to keep, books to read (published before 1938), a sabbath to observe… . They would produce something of lasting value, for themselves, and the planet.

Reddog's avatar

Yes but that’s the point of it. Dumbed down America.

Stephen Wolf's avatar

Willing ignorance of the truth.

Reddog's avatar

Yes, too many stumble thru life blissfully ignorant and afraid to simply question what doesn’t make sense.

Doug's avatar

I think someone input the subject into Grok and had it spit out 600 words.

Jason Leonard's avatar

If you are referring to me, you could not be more wrong. I am a free thinker that wouldn't whore myself out to an algorithm and then regurgitate the results.

Reddog's avatar

That is not what she is referring too here.

Jason Leonard's avatar

Was replying to Doug. The Grok comment was ambiguous.

She's spot on on the dumbing down! :)

The twisted language of “Climate Change” has helped it survive, plus its lunatic promoters have had the political power to keep it alive despite zero scientific evidence. Gore for God’s sake is freaking out right now. Obama used “science and climate deniers.” It was never about climate, it was about power and control. And loads of money.

Lloyd Garnett's avatar

Money for them and control of us.

Reddog's avatar

You’re right Alice. I said this before but worth repeating here. There was a movie called The Matrix, where a digital world obscured the reality that people were really living in. What is going on today with this climate warming agenda as well as just about every other “outrage” the Donks can come up with is so similar to that movie. They have created a world…….or they are at least in the process of doing so, which is not reality. This perpetual outrage and every leftist talking point tries to convince the public that reality is different than what we believe we are living in. Frankly, everyday a new issue is brought up for everyone to be outraged about and I for one could not tell you what the Dem party stands for today. They are completely dysfunctional and seek nothing but power for themselves. Yet daily, the national debt gets larger, Americans are attacked by people here illegally, and no one in Congress is focused on fixing anything, at least not seriously. But they all pimp for our dollars so they can be reelected. The Dems should put a big sign outside the HQ of the DNC with the words “HELP WANTED, ONLY ADULTS NEED APPLY”.

Alice Ball's avatar

Agree, just like the Matrix. And every bit of Dem strategy involves grifting——-the green BS, USAID, endless NGOs and “non-profits,” Act Blue busted, Soros & many other commie billionaires donations, and stealing elections nationwide. Zero respect.

Reddog's avatar

Very well said.

Climate change is the con job that keeps on giving. When a politician runs out of significant issues to run on, he/she will add climate change to the list. Reference: governor of Maine's Senate campaign pledge.

Stephen Wolf's avatar

Con job started by Al Gore. Remember the carbon credit market where companies could offset their carbon footprint by buying & selling credits.

Guess who owned the trading market? Al Gore who would make money on every transaction. Pure scam as alluded Roy.

steph_gray's avatar

Actually the climate scam started way before ManBearPig (Gore).

Time magazine published an article titled "Another Ice Age?" in June 1974.

They switched to warming pretty soon afterwards.

(But none of it included any actual evidence that humans can or ever have altered the climate with our actions.)

Roy Weintraub's avatar

It's also a play on emotion, of doing something for the people.

steph_gray's avatar

Every leftist scam does that.

The victims of leftist brainwashing are all suffering from an emotional disorder of some sort.

My opinion!

NNTX's avatar

And our putative “allies” in Europe are experiencing the results “good and hard” as they suffer from high energy costs due to the Climate Change grift adopted by EU governments, esp UK, France, Germany and now Ireland (where there are full scale protests underway by farmers, truckers and other normies sick of the depradations of their gov’t foisting immigrants and high costs on their (formerly) bucolic country.

Alice Ball's avatar

Good and hard is exactly what they deserve.

The Accidental Hoosier's avatar

The climate is *always* changing: The Sun is not a light bulb, or in engineering geek speak, a steady-state energy source. Because the Sun's energy output varies, the climate on all of the planets will vary. Puny man has no control over the Sun and precious little control over the Earth.

That doesn't stop the "green" lobby, of course, because they see two benefits: 1, they get filthy rich at our expense and 2, they get total control over our lives, again at our expense.

Great for them. Pretty bad for us. And really bad for those whom have yet to be lifted out of the muck by cheap, easy to use carbon-based fossil fuels.

As a geologist, I can assure you that the climate has been changing since this planet was formed. Will the climate change significantly during my lifetime…NO. Can humans affect the climate? Locally, yes temporarily. Globally, NO!

Puny humans with oversized egos.

Jane Kinkel's avatar

As a gardener, I love that sweet, sweet CO2.

steph_gray's avatar

I’m with you!

Unfortunately along with the May flowers, the CO2-infused March winds and April showers bring forth WEEDS.

So I gotta go play outside yet again…

Cookie McCall's avatar

I so with I could join you - I used to love digging in the dirt, unfortunately now, I'm unable to do that so I have become a patio gardener and still have things growing and blooming nearby. I need to get the hummingbird feeders cleaned and filled, I think they're in the vicinity, so I want to welcome them!

steph_gray's avatar

Patio gardening is wonderful in its own right. My sweetie put together a big planter that I use for easy-access veggies and herbs outside the kitchen door, and he gave me a patio swing among many other garden items...

Right now the yard work is part of my phys therapy for getting the new hip in shape, so along with a local crew that comes in a few times in season, I'm still maintaining my endless perennials whenever I can spare some time out there. I could supply an iris or daylily farm with what's out there multiplying. 😆

Cookie McCall's avatar

What would we do without perennials? I too love my iris, my grandmother used to win ribbons at her garden club for her beautiful iris and when mine are blooming, particularly in great abundance, it always reminds me of her. Unfortunately for me, I have balance issued which really makes it very difficult if not impossible to move around well in out hilly yard, so I just have to look out and appreciate it that way thanks to my stupid stroke a couple of years ago.

steph_gray's avatar

Oh my - Cookie, can't give a Like to that. So glad you can at least see the garden. My sweetie has balance issues as well, and I am very careful with the new hip to guard balance in the yard. I view it as my job to fight fight fight the aging!

We all do the best we can. May the Sky Chief bless you!

Cookie McCall's avatar

Thank you Steph. I am so blessed plus my sweetie is our primary chef these days and takes good care of me. I am very mobile and generally walk without a cane even unless I'm in a crowded situation. I've recovered well with the help of lots of physical therapy and great encouragement and guidance from a stroke specialist but I do have to accept some things I can't/shouldn't do. I'll soon be 84 so that ain't bad!

Reddog's avatar

As for aging, I can tell you what works. First train your mind to stop thinking about everything in the context of aging. Your mind controls it all. Then eat well, get off your butt and keep moving doing the same things you have always done, and ignore age related comments from friends and family. Forget age as a measure of anything except wisdom. Enjoy life like when younger, and don’t let people tell you differently.

Retirednottired's avatar

Ah, daylilies…. They grow wild hereabout. I actually had to remove some when we first moved in here 35 years back. Killed me to do it….

steph_gray's avatar

At this point I call the common orange ones weedlilies because they spread like the leftist's mind virus. I have no problem pulling them up (spading fork works, gets the roots) and throwing them in my yard trash pile where they grow back anyway.

But I love my hybrid daylilies of different colors. Unfortunately the late winter snow this year turns out to have starved the rabbits. I walked out today and every single daylily in the yard, good or weed, has been chomped!

Retirednottired's avatar

I hear ya, Cookie. I used to garden about a thousand sqft of kitchen garden every summer. Now, I’m only good for about 30 minutes at a time outside, so…a 6 by 6 garden box is all. I do miss it.

steph_gray's avatar

So cool. sigh.I had to give up trying to attract more of them, because I live too close to a highway and I don't think they like the noise.

But for the few hummers I do get, it's my butterfly bushes that bring them - plus of course many monarch and viceroy butterflies, and plenty of dragonflies and random birds & bees of all kinds.

Roger Tall's avatar

slow news day?

Suzie's avatar

You could substitute seagulls or seals, or any coastal indigenous creature, for gays and come up with the same premise, based upon such faulty nonsense.

The crap these universities, think tanks and research institutes crank out is more dangerous than their fantastically imaginary climate change could ever be. And they’re all solely designed specifically to draw more money to their pet cause.

Doug's avatar

All on the taxpayers' dime.

MBethamn's avatar

Or that much maligned coastal creature, Florida Man and his frequent sidekicks, Florida Woman and the alligator. 🐊

Reddog's avatar

If today’s universities existed in the early thirties and forties the Manhattan project would never have happened.

Tmitsss's avatar

The last time The Climate didn’t change was before The Serpent appeared in The Garden.

steph_gray's avatar

True.

But wasn’t the rain also restricted to after sundown in the realm of Camelot?

Richard Burton “sang” about it…

😉

Wim de Vriend's avatar

And don't forget there was a legal limit to the show there.

steph_gray's avatar

I think you mean snow, and yes ha ha!

Reddog's avatar

He was most assuredly drunk if he did..

Marlene Swann's avatar

And there is another documented source of truth that states the climate change people, all the alphabet people and those that have lying lips will experience their own kind of climate change - it’s called a lake of fire and it is not a fairy tale. Only those that call upon the name of the Lord will escape this. Another proven fact.

Amy's avatar

As I read through the data the institute presented, it seems so obvious that the leading cause of this made up disaster is living in Democrat-run counties. How’d those super smart college grads miss that? 🤔😉

steph_gray's avatar

They didn't want to denigrate where they live themselves.

Richard Lowe's avatar

WADR, climate change does happen; by definition, the climate is ALWAYS changing. What the general idiocy and panicans are saying is that it's human induced climate change, which is a load of barnyard waste. Now, if everyone will excuse me, I have to break wind and add to the problem.

steph_gray's avatar

I love throwing the word "anthropomorphic" at a lefty and watching eyes glaze over.

When I was in the military we used DILLIGAD.

now I get it, once you gave me enough clues to fill in the final blanks

Marlene Swann's avatar

Ha ha I had to read the comments for interpretation… good one!

Steve Boggs's avatar

Ok, I get the anagram, still not the automatic transmission

Steve Boggs's avatar

‘preciate that. Now I can get on with my day.

steph_gray's avatar

That one I got immediately, being surrounded by it daily!

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Love Dirlligaf but still don't comprehend the automatic transmission link with the woke mind virus.

John Swindall's avatar

Have you, in your lifetime not seen an automatic shift to almost every child being identified as on the spectrum or (special). That to me is problematic.

I don’t care who someone sleeps with or gets married to. As long as they love and care for and respect that individual and those around them.

Jeremy R's avatar

I thought you meant the AIDS virus which seems to automatically spread.

Doug's avatar

They can't admit that, so it's climate change's fault. That reminds me, did Fauci ever find the cure???

steph_gray's avatar

The problem was that he never intended to, on that or the Wuhan Flu.

Still ranks as the worlds' worst mass murderer in my estimation.

Jeremy R's avatar

No but they came up with a lot of expensive drugs that keep them alive and spreading it.

Happy Monday my fellow Surberites!

I am hoping PDJT lets our NATO “allies” know today that we are taking over Hormuz and Kharg island. I think Kharg Island should be the newest Buc-ees location. Pork and brisket for everyone, clean restrooms for our military and 100 stalls for tankers to fill up and pay the US for their protection.

Too Harsh??? A guy can dream.

not harsh in the least, sir!!!

Brother Don. I don't care about this bullshit. Life is a series of choices. Individual responsibility evades the liberal mind.

These people are not liberals. That was a passing language phase on the way to communism....first was "liberalism", next came "progressivism", and now we are on to "democracy" (as in "save our democracy").....the quiet move to communism...
