“The media has a decision to make on free speech. Either they support Slater and free speech or they are just a cartel of propagandists with press passes.”

In fact the once vaunted “fourth estate” has become this country’s most dangerous “fifth column”since they have devolved into the propaganda machine of the Marxist/Democrat/Hate America Party! How is it possible otherwise for DJT to get 95% negative coverage from these sock puppets?

It's just starting to be unprofitable for the MSM. The Trumpster team is looking to end the NGO/Non profit gravy train for the left. That will have a lasting effect since a lot of that money supports the twisted reporting of the left and the censorship of the right. When the gravy train slows to a trickle some will start changing their reporting kinda like Bill Maher. Move to the center and make money or move to the left and expire. It's an easy choice.

Hey there, I've known a lot of Democrats and not one of them was a Marxist or hated America. You might want to get out more and mingle, you know, escape the epistemic echo chamber, like this hilarious cavern of ceaseless Trump adoration. North Korea's Dear Leader can only dream of having such unquestioning minions.

Point taken. Most moderate Democrats are decent folks who are generally clueless about the folks who run the DNC and its affiliates. Why you ask, because they get their news from the legacy media who are in the tank for the Democrat Party which is quite Marxist at its core. The legacy media can ignore stories favorable to the GOP and Trump, they can flat out lie, or they can spin stories (think Gaza) to come to questionable conclusions. The net result is a moderate Democrat who has been inculcated with TDS due to all the negative information they are bombarded with. Trust me, I know many of these folks and as I said above, they are good people who I count as good friends. But sadly, they have been gaslighted for years and have no grasp of how evil the Democrat Party has become.

An interesting observation, not least because legacy media, "Marxist at its core," as you say, is desperately capitalistic in obtaining ad revenue. Also, I don't know your Democratic friends, of course, but most Dems — at least center-left Dems — positively detest legacy media for being so damn squishy. And TDS? I believe that means "Trump Degradation Syndrome." But what the hell, at least you can write in whole, grammatical sentences, a real rarity in your crowd.

Alas, I have been damned by faint praise. Aren't you the erudite one. Clearly, you do suffer from TDS based on your snide remarks. I do believe the legacy media is Marxist at its core based the issues they either support or denigrate. They defend CRT (a derivative of Critical Theory), DEI, BLM, and other hard core left wing causes. And for the legacy media being desperately capitalistic, how many of these media outlets were getting under the table monies via USAID?

I’ve known many many hundreds of people and quite a few were democrats. However, the ONLY people I’ve ever questioned their mental stability were democrats - especially the leftist Karens of COVID and the teachers pushing transgender sex change on grade schoolers. Not all covid sickos were dems but the absolutely extremist zombies were dems. All of the tranny supporters are dems. As a 'ceaseless Trump adoration' giver and an 'adoration addict' I can launch a few traits at you. For example, as a clueless dem, you probably don't understand the ceaseless adoration (I combined them for you) the Trump individual liberty devotees have for the Constitution that is now finally in sight for throttling our government that should be managed at our command, not by the dems' former leader, the babbling, drooling man that was sharpened and honed by Corn Pop. Donald Trump is the first man with the balls to fight for that. 80% of the Repubs in Congress don't have that hanging between their legs, but Trump does. I am devoted to that.

I don't know you or know what drives you, but if you are confused about what drives this audience then you have no clue what you are facing or who you are addressing.

This is why protection from censorship is so important

Assistant Minneapolis Police Chief Katie Blackwell made the classic mistake of suing a truth teller for defamation, namely the intrepid Liz Collin of Alpha News. In her book, They’re Lying: The Media, The Left, And The Death of George Floyd, and in her documentary, The Fall of Minneapolis, Collin claimed Blackwell may have lied on the witness stand by stating that Derek Chauvin’s use of force on George Floyd was improvised and unauthorized.

Blackwell did indeed lie in that trial, and that lie was largely responsible for Chauvin’s being found guilty. Why hasn’t there been a call for at least a retrial as a result of the courts ruling in the defamation case?

That is the question.

It was clear from the get-go that the police officers were never going to get a fair trial and the state of Minnesota and the city of Minneapolis now have a stain upon them that will never go away. The true criminals in this case are the mayor, police officials, the prosecutors, and the judiciary who all ignored the evidence and conspired to railroad these police officers.

Publishers can be held liable for what they print because they control the words that appear in their materials. The Big Tech censors claim they are not publishers, i.e., they can't be liable because they don't control what appears on their sites. - You see where this is going, don't you? - The non-publisher's liability protection is codified in Section 230. Join the club if you see an unresolvable logical conflict here. Google, TEDx and the others claim "We don't censor" and "We are not publishers" but every one of them controls content to advance or impede political discussion. It appears the Trump Team will demand change. Admit you are publishers controlling content and bear the liability or stop your censoring programs.

Good morning, all.

One of the touchiest of subjects, this. I know far too many folks on "our" side of things, who would cheerfully chop off dissenting/different views at the knees. I have experienced it, as well - to the extent that yelling "You're going to HELL" at me because my particular spiritual Path is not the same as the yeller's. That doesn't even cover my political leanings...something I don't discuss with family members and a couple of my close friends, as some aren't as tolerant of folks having different opinions as I am.

As far as I am concerned, say anything, believe anything you want; I may or may not disagree, but I won't hold it against you; I retain the right to discuss it with you, or choose not to listen and walk away. Unless your position, spiritual or otherwise, can potentially bring harm to me, mine, or others, we won't have any issues.

"Can't we all just get along??" Wouldn't THAT be nice? Sadly, too many want to set conditions on that - basically the "My way or the highway" coalitions on BOTH sides.

<Le Sigh>

I am grateful for another day, in which, hopefully, I can annoy somebody who really, really deserves it - simply by being my usual cheerful self! ;D

Have a great day, everyone.

I was a paid subscriber to Bari Weiss’s substack for 3 years. The final year it became unreadable. She was always left with a big dose of pro Jew but at the beginning her stuff was nuanced and fair and a good place to get a reasonable leftist “take.” The quotes Don uses above are from the early years when she was fair-minded. I haven’t examined it through the lens of free speech so I can’t speak to that but in recent years her politics turned farther left and the nuance all but disappeared. She has a big case of TDS. I defend her right to her opinions but I won’t be paying to read them.

I need to take back some of my comments recently on Trump's Department of Justice. When folks have criticized Pam Bondi, I have defended her (so far), saying that (1) it takes time to develop serious criminal cases, especially in the area of Treason, and (2) that the job of Attorney General is too big for one person--especially right now, trying to fix all the Dems damage--and that Trump needed to rapidly appoint several additional Deputy Attorney Generals to handle the work load. Those are still valid points.

But what I didn't realize, and what Don's column today makes clear, is that Trump has ALREADY BEEN DOING THAT-- and as usual, Trump is actually very much on top of this.

Don's column features Abigail Slater, Assistant Attorney General for the DOJ's Antitrust Division. It sounds like she is a firecracker doing a great job. He also quotes Politico, which states that at the Forum on Censorship that Slater just had, she also shared the mic with Brendan Carr, Trump's new Chairman of the FCC, and Andrew Ferguson, Trump's new Chairman of the FTC, who also sound like dynamic MAGA fighters.

Then add in recent news about Harmeet Dillon, who is Trump's new head of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, and Ed Martin (who was the Acting AG for DC, that Thom Tillis opposed) being appointed as the new Head of the DOJ's Weaponization Working Group, and Trump's appointment of Alina Habba as the Federal District Attorney for New Jersey.

There has not been as much media coverage of the lower-level appointments Trump has been making. But the reality is that Trump really is fielding a literal army of impressive crusaders to these divisions of the Department of Justice, to key federal District Attorney positions, and to many other agencies, commissions, etc.

This is flat out fantastic! And I was previously not well-enough informed.
