This announcement amounted to “Yes, we’ve always lied about climate change, it’s about control not emissions, those who called it a green scam were exactly right, and my Dem NGO money for the scam has dried up, and I need scads more power to play in the AI sandbox, so DRILL BABY DRILL!”
I love every single day with President Trump! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I think he sees that The Climate has peaked. He sees more upside in The AI - regardless of “environmental issues.” He’s skilled at being among the first in the money launder game. Or Snake Oil game. He wins either way.
Anyone else not want AI besides me? No off ramp, no safe guards except some guys word it’s safe, just full speed ahead. I’m beginning to believe the atomic bomb and nuclear war is not our greatest risk, it’s been replaced by AI. Stop them from forcing it on us before we are all slaves to it.
You and I see this the same way. They are both fixable but I'm not sure there are enough people who are willing to step up and stop either today. The Islam problem is a case study. We are seeing what happens when Muslims get control of government right here in America as witnessed in Minnesota and other places. We didn't learn from Europe when they opened their borders and let indiscriminate immigration taker over either. Europe is probably lost but we still have the time to stop this crazy virus from ruining this country. But we seem to be frozen right now due to threats from the left and perhaps an indifference on too many folks minds. I still have never heard a rational answer from anyone in Europe as to why they felt the need to open their borders and allow an invasion to take place there. Islam will NEVER allow itself to meld into western life and culture. So the insanity continues.................
2001, a space Odessey. Although science fiction, does anyone think it will not happen in our lifetime? AI is already showing signs that it refuses to be shut down..........resisting. And this is still the early stages of its existence. We need to pay attention to Kubrick's warning.
AI should be used as a research tool, just like we use Google to do searches. In fact, AI is replacing Google as a search engine, an AI search engine. The youngs use AI all the time and they use it with their voice to get the information they need. I watched my son use it that way this week. I was recently replaced by AI to save money and I am okay with this at my age. I would note there's a lot of AI slop out there. I've got other work lined up and I am finally working on my book.
The trouble with AI is that you are depending on algorithms to provide accurate data or results. This is not the same as getting the same data from a direct human source. In the first case, if the data proves inaccurate and lets say it causes harm to someone, who is responsible? Who do you have legal recourse against? In the second case you have some line to a human or human entity such as a think tank, expert, etc. My example here is all happening in real time. Young kids, minors, are prone to take the answers as fact with no questioning and therein lies one of the problems. Once AI is in full control of all our media, all our everyday systems like water purification, electric generation, nuke plants, the military control systems, we will be its slave, no longer its master. No amount of the so-called experts telling me they know how this all can be managed to make sure humans remain in control will convince me the AI stampede is a good thing given there are virtually no safeguards in place or any regulations to oversee how this is implemented. We need to slow this down, stop worrying about other countries getting ahead of us, and move ahead in a controlled manner. I was trained in civil and structural engineering and there was no part of that education that said it was okay to skip from step 1,2,3,4 to step 16 in a design process. No one ever said that doing so was a good thing or necessary. Slow this horse down before we lose control. This is not me saying this, it's commonsense.
Yes, that is the problem with AI. A lot of it is inaccurate slop because it's only scrapping up existing internet content. A human needs to know how to use the content and what not to use. A human needs to know and decide what is good and accurate content and what is not. However, it is saving companies money now and that is their goal.
Business will always choose short term answers to long term problems because most of them are driven by the bottom line or daily stock prices in the case of big corporations. Not sure in the case of AI whether or not we can stop the stampede before it starts to hurt us in one way or another. We are getting warnings right now thru kids being harmed by listening to AI but it isn't slowing the rush down. AI can be a tool but it is not our savior nor the answer. Just watch what happens as AI causes mass job losses across the country. We are seeing it happen right now at Amazon and other companies. I doubt anyone has the answer or solution so "Damm the Torpedo's, it's full speed ahead".................into the unknown. Maybe humans truly don't listen to commonsense or learn from history at all?
Unfortunately we have people elected and or appointed to positions of power who are pushing AI yet do not have the brains to tie their own shoes ie: AOC Jazzy C.,E.Swallowell and more thana few rinos as in Murkycow etal. This is the scary part for the world LuAnn.
I am well into the first chapter and it's just as difficult as I thought it would be. I have had to re-train myself to use my imagination over a period of hours five to six hours a day. It's tiring. I don't even care if it's gets published and if it does, it will be self-published because it's very difficult to get published the way it used to be done. I am doing this for me. It's now a personal challenge. And, it will be under a pseudonym. Those who know me, will likely figure out it's me, though.
LuAnn, I started writing a book many years ago and I too didn't care if it was ever published or not. I have had a great life with wonderful events both in the Army, during my working career, and now in "retirement" (whatever that means) and plan to have more God willing. I'm still adding content and writing it after at least thirty years. It started out to be a sort of mirror of my life events with the names changed so I don't lose friends if it ever gets finished and published:) I doubt it will ever be finished frankly, but I enjoy reliving my life events and writing it. Maybe my sons will get a kick out of it someday. So just enjoy writing your book and don't get stressed out by it. I found writing in shorter bursts and then leaving it for a while works best for me. Have fun.
In college I took an interest in Buckminster Fuller and some of his innovations, but mostly I was interested in his unique ways of thinking.
His theory on prosperity was that the best way to measure a nation's prosperity was in the number of "energy slaves" the average man had available to work for him - one energy-slave being equal to the capacity for work of one man. For example, an American man, largely through electricity had, say, 1550 energy slaves. The average European, 400, the average Asian maybe 10. One number I DO remember was Africa: "approximately zero."
Far from being injured by the CO2, et al from powerplants, the real damage is being done by the environmental grifters like Bill Gates and Al Gore denying those people cheap energy - especially electricity.
Think about the typical farm tractor. Compare it to hand tilling cultivating and harvesting.
In my work I use drills saws and other assorted tools which dramatically increase my productivity. As a kid, I helped trim a house. Baseboards, doors and the kitchen cabinets. We drilled every hole in them and ran every screw in by hand. If you ever look at old cabinets and see flat head screws, they were probably installed by hand.
When we contracted for a second house, I went and purchased my first corded drill. It was Not variable speed and driving those flathead screws sucked, but it beat hand turning by miles.
When I retired from teaching we moved into the country to a neglected dilapidated old house, tumbledown outbuildings, and overgrown fields and gardens.
At 65 I renovated and rebuilt. It took about ten years. Then I built a couple of boats.
In the meantime I became a serious exhibiting landscape artist. I’m slowing down a bit now I’m in my eighties so I think it’s time to write the books I keep meaning to.
It was all possible because of electricity and those wonderful energy slaves.
We have a Buckminister Fuller geodesic dome in Montreal, which was erected for Expo 67 and was the U.S. pavillion. I can remember my father marvelling at it. It's now a biosphere and is a pretty big tourist attraction here.
First…Katie Porter hardest hit. How will she explain this to her daughter?
Second…Gates has finally heard what those of us on the right have been saying for decades - nuclear power is the answer. A little late to the party, Bill. As usual, there’s a reason we’re called “the right”.
Check out LFTRs - Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors - reactors small enough to put on a truck and carry to nearly every village in Africa, powerful enough to supply electricity for a small city, burns nuclear waste from currently in-use commercial reactors along with plentiful thorium, with the capability to produce the world's power for 150 years on currently-available waste, and physically incapable of producing material for weapons. Not to mention fail-safe.
New technology? Hardly. A prototype ran at Oak Ridge in 1954, and a second one from 1965 to 1969. Why haven't we been using these all along? Many reasons, but a large one is c'os the gub'ment can't use them to breed nuclear material for weapons, so all their research has gone into water-cooled reactors that spray radioactive steam all over the planet if they fail. Think Chernobyl and Fukushima.
Sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, doesn't it? Investigate for yourself; the data is everywhere. While we're chasing "fusion," China has a LFTR running now; other countries are ironing out the inevitable kinks.
Yep. Same thing. The typical uranium reactor uses about 5% of the energy available in its fuel and then has to dispose of the waste. A SMR uses about 90% and uses it to provide neutrons to split thorium, which will not sustain a chain reaction on its own. Pull the uranium and the reaction stops.
They are not the Holy Grail, but look very, very good.
Small nuclear reactors power submarines and aircraft carriers. Have for years. Seems the AI geniuses would tap that technology and leave residential electricity customers alone. Where I live the pols are trying to ban natural gas for residential customers … hmm.
True, but military reactors are the "light water" variety, as I understand. It's an interesting read to do a little dive into Hyman Rickover's "nuclear navy." He was one of the very first nuclear engineers and as an admiral held tremendous sway. He decided that the navy would use light water reactors, and since the gub'ment had decided that Everything Nuclear was "born classified," all research into nuclear power fell under gub'ment aegis. Hence - at least this is MY interpretation - the basically unlimited power of One Man steered nuclear energy down one path, with zero research into the other (thorium reactors).
To my jaundiced eye, the greatest boondoggle - other than windmills and solar panels - is the stunning amount of money that is going into "fusion power." It is described as "just ten years in the future - and always will be." Should they ever make it commercially viable, just the cost of the facility will a) make its power unaffordable and b) mean that nobody but the gub'ment can build it. That means that they will have complete control, but even that is not the worst: the facilities will be perfect targets for an enemy to shut down the entire power grid. Not a fan.
Apologies for going on. If others have done more reading, I am open to other explanations, of course.
Pacific NW. Easier to build a gas-powered power plant that anything else, and the AI Server Farms need electricity so the lowly homeowner can forgo natural gas for Big Tech.
Anthropogenic global warming, the most destructive canard foisted on the Western World by the Marxists who control the UN, WEF, the Marxist/Democrat/Hate America Party, and Western Europe. We should welcome Gates’s epiphany no matter what his reasons may be. We can hope that the canard of transgenderism which has destroyed so many lives is next to be abolished.
It may be a short-term win but it also may mean they have their next life-controlling deception ready to go. They sure got decades and decades of control out of global warming/cooling. It was an obvious fraud from day-one and it lasted a generation or more.
Could the next control mechanism be AI? That's my bet.
Hey 95 percent of scientists agree it's man made global warming. My cousin who thought he was a lot smarter than he actually was just couldn't accept the debunking of that canard.
Climaye and tbe earth changed a lot b4 industrialization
Ever see the grand canyon?? Information on past temperaturs has been with held. Some think we are still recovering from tbe ice age. Indusrltry may be contributing... so may uneven earth orbits. Cilmate and astrophysics are complicated...few scientists teally undestand it all. Scientists have local soecializations. Sobe sure to trust the right one...
Bill Gates built his fortune by screwing others over. He wasn’t smart enough to create DOS, just smart enough to market it. He wasn’t smart enough to invent Windows, he had to rip off IBM’s OS2.
He is a typical limousine liberal, could care less about human suffering except where he can make money off of it.
My granny, GOD rest her sweet soul, would have called him a huckster, or a Shylock.
I truly believe he is of the same stock as the Hildebeast, Algore and Soros.
Also, he got the version of his DOS off the ground because his mommy was on the same charitable board that the IBM CEO was on & IBM then selected Gates DOS to use on their PC's instead of DR DOS - which was far more superior since it could multi-task. DR went out of business shortly after. Then that thief had his people at IBM supposedly working to develop OS2, but were just stealing whatever they could to develop Windows. I've used OS2 at IBM & it handles memory a lot more efficiently than Windows. Pity is that IBM thought they would get hit with antitrust charges if they used their own version of DOS on their PC's. That never made sense to me since they use their operating systems on their mainframe computers.
The so called green energy scam destroyed and continues to destroy more of the environment than all the volcanoes and hurricanes in history. This rape of the planet still continues via the lust for power and money ,Gates etal scammers of the nth degree.
“…policies that would reduce the greenhouse gases that are dangerously heating the planet…”
There is no causation established between CO2 levels and temperature. It’s an untestable, and therefore unfalsifiable theory.
It’s complete bullshit. And yet all of the smart set, the Good White People, and associated euroweenies believe it unquestioningly, like obedient 4th-graders.
As a college professor who knows lots of other college professors, I endorse this.
College professors are among the most un-self-aware people on earth. They believe they are the smartest people. But their intelligence is inversely proportional to their ignorance.
The church of the left will do that to you. Its dogmatism destroys critical thinking.
And besides that, a bit of global warming would be better, not worse for mankind in that it would increase the world's area of aerable land capable of producing food. How is that bad?
Grant money - to keep the research grift going on at the colleges & to also take the professors out of the classrooms & hire TA's in their place to brainwash the "skulls full of mush" as Rush liked to say.
Don’t forget the Gas Guzzler Tax is still with us. Funny cars only and not trucks or SUVs. They wanted to stick it to rich buyers of pricey and high performance cars used for pleasure and fun. Don be sure and buy your Bentley used to avoid it. 🙂
“Gates suddenly embraced nuke energy when he realized A.I. will require tons of electricity. Self-interest awakens you quicker than a cold shower.”
THIS. 💯% !!!!
Gates is fully invested in the race to AI-everything. Not sure which version of him is scarier: the green “we’re all gonna die” one, or the “I am the wizard of all knowledge” one. I fear it’s the latter.
It’s funny when Gates talks about making agriculture and transporting the goods less polluting. When I am in rural farming areas the air is fresh and clean. When I am in most major cities it’s not!
He can clamor all he wants about the poorest people around the world like he has their answer because he knows nothing about living in a corrupt country that never allows actual freedom from government but rather ensures they stay poor and without power, be it politically or having access to electricity.
South Africa has rolling blackouts daily for years now because all the money gets taken by those at the top. There has been more than enough money to upgrade the electrical infrastructure all this time.
Marxist Democrat philosophy can be summed up in two words;
Acceptable Casualties
If they truly cared about the poorest of societies they would advance capitalism and teach generational wealth.
It’s a good thing Al Gore invented the internet (Yuk Yuk!!) or the media would still have the stranglehold on the deceitful information we now know is a fake as they are.
Western governments, in their blind obsession to their Green god, have utterly crippled almost the entire African continent for decades, keeping it living in the dark ages, through their requirements and strings attached to all aid and loans, that they be restricted to invest only in green technologies, rather than actual real energy like oil and gas infrastructure.
The result has been starvation, drought, disease, abject poverty and endless civil wars.
They are the living laboratory of what obeisance to the green god will get you.
Actually, I believe the new-fangled, so-called "leaders" of that continent are fine with all that, since corruption is their main pastime. Consider what's happened to South Africa since it was "liberated".
hmmm, 'liberated?' don't you mean apartheid ended, giving tribal negro savages power and you see how well that's going.
tribal savages can't control themselves, much less a country. they were born to be slaves and their Plantation Masters are democRATs. republicans freed the animals once but they refuse to leave their Masters.
Remember Little Red Hiding Hood & the Big Bad Wolf disguising itself as her bestie? I read this article that in it had computer simulation of just one “philanthropic” organization (Tides Foundation) & the literally countless organizations it funds. Top that off with unknown number of people the likes of which couldn’t ‘spell CAT if you spotted the C & T’ with god awful levels of wealth, it is not just a recipe for disaster, it is the end of times.
Oh yes indeedy! The NGO’s “are just there to help”- right!
And think how many of those our taxpayers dollars were funding all around the world until DOGE lifted the lid on the whole USAID laundering scam! Makes your blood boil!
> South Africa has rolling blackouts daily for years now because all the money gets taken by those at the top. There has been more than enough money to upgrade the electrical infrastructure all this time.
For a moment I thought you were talking about California.
"... obesity rates in the world have tripled in the past 32 years, rising from 4.8% for men in 1990 to 14% in 2022. Among women it rose from 8.8% in 1990 to 18.5% in 2022." Could there be a connection between massively rising obesity rates, both worldwide but specifically in the U.S.A and the rise in availability of food stamps, i.e., the SNAP Program? Having watched the testimony of the "typical SNAP recipient" provided by Senatrix Klobuchar, widely available on You Tube, I suspect that a connection just might exist. Before you come to any conclusions, I recommend you watch the video. It's still up on Klobuchar's Senate Website. If you would really like to become agitated, there are also dozens of videos posted by SNAP recipients threatening to steal food as well as money and threatening violence against anyone--and particularly white taxpayers--who tries to prevent this illegality. When you stop to realize that over forty million SNAP recipients (a large proportion of whom are not citizens and many are not even here under a pretense of legality) exist, taking about a hundred billion (yes, BILLION) dollars in SNAP benefits annually, you must conclude that America under democrat control is nothing more than a vast protection racket, where the taxpayers fund the racket and the democrat politicians and their voters reap the benefits. This has nothing to do with "charity"; it is merely theft by other means. There are thousands, probably millions of food banks, pantries and other private sources of groceries that these SNAP recipients can call upon, but they spurn that because it's beneath their dignity. (Snort!) Plus, you can always (illegally) sell SNAP benefits for cash to buy drugs, but you can't trade the canned goods and day-old bread at your local food pantry for that, so it's a no-brainer for the criminally inclined.
One item on the long list of false leftist complaints debunked and hundreds more to go.
We're seeing progress but it is much to slow. I can only hope that as we debunk a few more, the momentum will gather strength and steamroll the entire lying leftist movement into oblivion.
One issue I'd like to see addressed and exposed is weather control attempts. The droughts and floods? Exacerbated by cloud seeding and chem trails. Our soil is being destroyed with chemicals falling from the sky put there by . . . you guessed it . . . insane leftists.
They are destroying the food supply by destroying the soil and the GMO (genetics) of seeds. THe food we get won't be a nutritional source of healthy living. Monsanto and Bayer are the "Fauci's" of agriculture

Onto the next scam!!

Amen, Alice. Exactly 💯!

Bill Gates just trying to recover monies he lost to his ex after she caught him on Epstein Island. What a dolt.
The comedian James Gregory reminded us that obesity is now considered a disease. He caught it from a fat women who sneezed on him.

I can not decide which is scarier for the future of America as envisioned by our founders, is it AI or the infiltration and acceptance of Islamists??.

Quite so
I use AI as my research student for writing boring computer programming routines. I've found its not always accurate at that.
Therefor the user is responsible for any harm as due diligence must be applied.
LuAnn--I will be most interested to read the book you are writing! "You go, girl!" What is it about?

AI, I think, will be destructive to the environment given the vast amounts of energy and water it needs.
Agree , the techbros see it as the next cash cow . It's another Ponzi scheme ; input costs will always outweigh benefits . Basically a luxury item .

Unfortunately they behave more often like recalcitrant teenagers begging for allowances (updates, bugs, constant charges, pestering me with spam...)
Quite so, and these supposed benefactors of Mankind are the cruelest misanthropes that ever walked the earth.
Yes, they hate human civilization, particularly Western civilization based on Judeo-Christian values.

Sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, doesn't it? Investigate for yourself; the data is everywhere. While we're chasing "fusion," China has a LFTR running now; other countries are ironing out the inevitable kinks.
These LFTR's sound very interesting--incredible that they run by burning nuclear waste. That would be a real WIN-WIN.
I also heard another acronym, SMR, Small Modular Reactor, discussed recently on the Ruthless podcast. The company is called Valar Atomics.
The company rep Isaiah Taylor (perhaps the CEO, I think?) said that the materials to assemble one can fit it in three shipping containers.
Yep.
Thanks!
A good place to learn, is this.
No need to apologize; is interesting and informative.
Do you live in Mont Co MD by any chance? That’s where I’m from (emphasis on “from”) and I know that’s one area they’re trying to do that. 😡
Pacific NW. Easier to build a gas-powered power plant that anything else, and the AI Server Farms need electricity so the lowly homeowner can forgo natural gas for Big Tech.
Interesting. I'm not sure what justification they use in the MD to try to eliminate natural gas to homes. Just more leftist control.
I read somewhere that Gates is invested in that Wyoming reactor.
Thanks for jogging my memory on that.
I read it’s his project about 3 years ago.
Hitting Katie Porter is a tantalizing image.
Not PC, of course, but I've taken to calling her, "Katie Porker."
My hogs would have resented being associated with such a creature. I actually taught my pet one tricks the best of was praying before eating.
Hey, if the bacon wrap fits…
😂
Don't fret, it WILL be abolished by tens of thousands of lawsuits for inflicting grievous, lifelong bodily harm on innocent children.
And his Meta mini-me, Mark Zuckerberg, who ripped it off the real inventors in Harvard. Both world class hucksters.
I call him ZucksBerg.
It’s ironic, but the environmentalists have done more to destroy the environment with their solar and wind “farms.”
How did the world become so stupid?
College professors?
As a college professor who knows lots of other college professors, I endorse this.
College professors are among the most un-self-aware people on earth. They believe they are the smartest people. But their intelligence is inversely proportional to their ignorance.
The church of the left will do that to you. Its dogmatism destroys critical thinking.
" Its dogmatism destroys critical thinking."
That a feature, not a bug.
Are you adapting the old axiom [ book smart-practical dumb ] to describe a misguided ability to use logic and reason??
Sort of. But it’s beyond them being non-practical. They are cultists who believe whatever gives them status among their peers.
And besides that, a bit of global warming would be better, not worse for mankind in that it would increase the world's area of aerable land capable of producing food. How is that bad?
Right. And fewer people dying from extreme cold, which currently kills way more people than extreme heat.
You know climate panic is horseshit bc the doomsayers only speak of negative effects, when of course there are positive effects. Fucking shysters.
Grant money - to keep the research grift going on at the colleges & to also take the professors out of the classrooms & hire TA's in their place to brainwash the "skulls full of mush" as Rush liked to say.
I believe grant money is called "Pork" in some circles. Politicians love their "Pork".
"That is why man landed on the moon and not, say, dolphins or seagulls."
Why would we want to land on dolphins or seagulls?
Asking for a friend, of course.
LOL
Now that’s funny.
I always wanted a dolphin for a pet. Unfortunately, the backyard blow-up pool was not a realistic habitat.
Buy an AMERICAN made yacht.
Does anyone remember a tax on yachts that some DementoRat pushed years ago as an early strike in their Tax the Rich b.s.?
All it did was hurt the businessmen who manufactured the yachts...
Don’t forget the Gas Guzzler Tax is still with us. Funny cars only and not trucks or SUVs. They wanted to stick it to rich buyers of pricey and high performance cars used for pleasure and fun. Don be sure and buy your Bentley used to avoid it. 🙂
Rush talked about it several times.
Why am I suspect that Gates picked Wyoming over say Colorado? Colorado would certainly have far greater energy needs than Wyoming. Thoughts?
Wyoming is red state, hence fewer lefty “eco” regulations, would be my first guess.
Marxist Democrat philosophy can be summed up in two words;
Yes, well, there is that. Tragic.
Criminal would be a better description.
Darphur today is a good case in point.
hmmm, 'liberated?' don't you mean apartheid ended, giving tribal negro savages power and you see how well that's going.
tribal savages can't control themselves, much less a country. they were born to be slaves and their Plantation Masters are democRATs. republicans freed the animals once but they refuse to leave their Masters.
Gates actually said that Africa & India were like laboratories to try out "new stuff".
I don't believe that anyone should take any advice from Bill Gates.
Diabolical.
> South Africa has rolling blackouts daily for years now because all the money gets taken by those at the top. There has been more than enough money to upgrade the electrical infrastructure all this time.
For a moment I thought you were talking about California.
An easy mistake to make!!
"... obesity rates in the world have tripled in the past 32 years, rising from 4.8% for men in 1990 to 14% in 2022.
One leftist down and millions more to go.
I am waiting to find out how many of Jamaica’s wind turbines survived the storm.
“The biggest problems are poverty and disease, just as they always have been.“
Aggravated and compounded by fools like Gates, Gore, et al.
I believe the real "fools" are those who believe their cons. Dems are above average in accepting con artists and their grifting.
Incomprehensibly so!!
