A characteristic of people on the Left is magical thinking. They firmly believe that mankind can control the temperature of the earth. Not only that but that control can be accomplished merely by eliminating one parameter, CO2. That sort of magical thinking is what also makes Leftists believe that a man can transform himself into a woman and vice versa. And with magical thinking there is no contemplating what the downstream negative effects of these catastrophic ideas will bring. This is what the Marxist/Democrat/Hate America Party believes and it will destroy this nation if left unchecked. This is just one reason why they hate DJT so much!

Darrrell, I am SO with you on this. The part of the planet now suitable for cultivation is getting bigger, and it can GROW things! What an idea! One of the very worst examples of this sort of person is my own sister, a prof who has lived in Scotland for 30 years. She is absolutely mentally and psychologically tortured by Trump. She skipped her niece's wedding in May bc she will not deign to set foot in this country until Trump is gone.

We can't even have amiable Zoom chats anymore (6 sibs total, all far-flung) because she cannot help but caterwaul about Trump destroying the world. I never talk politics with her or the others, respecting our differences, but she feels compelled to pontificate.

Magical thinking is what got us here, for sure. It told us Obama was a “community organizer” instead of what he really was, a planted candidate bound on destroying America. Since 2008, we’ve succumbed to all sorts of magical thinking—that men can be women and vice versa, that the vaccines were safe and effective, that big medicine didn’t collaborate with big pharma and that “organic” food didn’t contain chemicals and pesticides that are destroying us. We were walking the path of the Roman Empire, mired in excess, until one man decided to speak common sense to us and snap us out of it. Now it’s okay to say, “that’s not so” again.

Consider: the bloodletting that prematurely killed George Washington; the medical use of mercury and other poisons in the 19th century; then lobotomies, thalidomide, and unnecessary tonsillectomies in the 1950s, along with advertising that had MD's recommending 'healthy' cigarettes, and don't forget Covid ...

I read an article in a medical journal once that recommended a sleep study for a kid’s attention deficit-he was like a super ball in a closet. The sleep study discovered that he slept on his back, and woke every 5 minutes. The cure? A tonsillectomy to clear his airway. Makes sense. Dr. Spock put an end to mass tonsillectomies, and the beginning of unnecessary Ritalin prescriptions. Makes sense, though. Give an overtired kid amphetamines, he’ll stay awake. Big pharma.

This might be a topic for another medical study, financed by Kennedy.

But your story reminds me of the guy, many years ago, who went to see his doctor over his hip pain. This is another part of the moral decay that began in the '60s with the Sexual Revolution. There was misbehavior before that (always)--but people kept it under cover. But starting in the '60s, it became blatant. But the decay didn't stop there--it spread to every other area of life. Business ethics began to go downhill in the '70s. Other areas followed, including medical ethics. (Granted, political ethics never were very good....)

I can't remember which book it was in, but C. S. Lewis once wrote that morality is unitary--it's all one thing. If you tear down one area, all others will go with it.
