The thought that the NATO members could withstand an attack without US support is the Art of the Dream. Arrogance is not the guiding force in war.

Let them go. Take care of the Strait, supply your own weapons, secure your own oil and natural gas and make an effort to stop the Muslim madness that is currently suffocating your cultures.

Let us know how that works out for you. We have our own debt problems and indoctrinated voter problems to solve.

Steve Boggs's avatar

1) debt problems

2) indoctrinated voters

3) homegrown & imported terrorists (Muslims & insane, but I repeat myself)

Like the Brit Nationals who sneaked into Maine via Canada before apprehension?

LuAnn's avatar

Did you notice the names of these so-called Brit nationals?? No surprises there.

Don Reed's avatar

04/10/26: Someone forgot to warn them that Maine mosquitos make F-35s look like Tonka toys.

SDN's avatar

Those mosquitos were taking it easy for Easter.... they walked out with blood left.

Janna's avatar

I live in Maine.

All Brits named Abdulla and Mohamad, right?

We know when people ”arent from around here”, are acting suspicious by hiding in the roadside vegetation, and actually call the Boarder patrol.

Many Mainers are veterans or hunters or both and sketchy strangers are not welcome.

Don Reed's avatar

04/10/26: The rules of Maine are very simple. Six generations must pass before "newcomers" are no longer from "away." Imagine the surprise these IMS's (Islamic Mosquito Snacks) must have experienced when they weren't welcomed with open arms.

Don Reed's avatar

04/10/26: "With open arms" --- the plot thickens. Six Islamos were arrested (4 were on foot). 2 others were found in a truck that ran out of gas (IQ TEST: Destination 100 miles. Should you gas up before you depart?). There was a loaded 9mm pistol underneath the driver's seat.

Janna's avatar

We’ve only been here ten years. We will always be “from away”.

Don Reed's avatar

04/10/26: I would be honored to be regarded as being "from away." That way, Janet Mills couldn't possibly mistake me as a Somali.

Stanley Yelnats's avatar

Please tell me those guys are being detained.

Don Reed's avatar

04/12/26: Not for long. The Canadian government is issuing them the country's highest civilian honors for impersonating harmless British citizens while endangering their lives in the holy crusade against The Great Satan (thought things would get less crazy after Falsedeau-Castro got bounced? Ha!).

tj's avatar

Imported and treated a 100 times better than their native citizens.

steph_gray's avatar

Now there’s an ARG for real.

tj's avatar

Pretty much. Between the idiots here and the idiots in the UK, France, and the handful of other countries importing their Western civilization doom, my blood pressure goes up.

They keep thinking if they cowtow enough, or give them enough, the Muslims will leave them be to rule. They wont. It is not part of their doctrine to share power. And Sharia Law will be implemented so fast their heads will spin. London and Paris both have large sections that are no-go zones for non-Muslims and police dont patrol there.

There’s an old truism that remains true today and fits perfectly with our commander in chief: “it’s always the lead dog that has teeth marks on its ass.” How fortunate are we that our sled is being led by the most consequential President in the last 50 years.

We don't deserve PDJT, but I'm sure glad we have him on our team

04/10/26: And Marco Rubio is the best Secretary of State that America has ever had.

Steve (recovering lawyer)'s avatar

Forty-seven years ago, a peanut farmer from Georgia was POTUS. His election was in direct response to the state of our country after having been humiliated by our foreign enemies in Vietnam and our domestic ones in Watergate. Carter was the perfect avatar for a battered and beaten nation; a man who decided that it was time for America to step back, to shrink from its role as a leader of world affairs and fall into the "malaise" he made famous. The people in power in Washington decided that Ayatollah Khomeini was a suitable replacement for The Shah because they knew nothing about him (or rather ignored what was easily discoverable), but knew that the Shah had been a friend and ally to America and that would simply not do in the age of a shrinking America. So Jimmah told us to turn our thermostats down and put on a sweater, to stop driving our cars and learn to live with less of everyting because that was our necessary penance for once having the temerity to save the world from nazism, and attempting to do so with communism. For the next ensuing forty-seven years, the islamic fundamentalists who believed that islam was destined to conquer the world did everything in their power to make that fevr dream come true and the powers that be in America stood by and let that happen. So what if hundreds of Americans died in Lebanon and elsewhere in the middle east? That was the price we had to pay to atone for our previous sins. Even when we tried to reverse course with Reagan, his hands were tied by an opposition political party and venomous media. But times change; the wheel turns and suddently, we found ourselves looking at a man who decided that enough was enough. We elected him twice (or three times discounting the fraud that put the cipher calling himself Joe Biden in the White House). With God's grace, Trump has almost single-handedly turned things around. But with each success, he finds himself opposed by ever more virulent enemies. He needs our support, not nit-picking and back-biting. He needs and deserves a Congress that has a majority of political friends, not foes. Remember that when it comes time to cast your ballot and remember also that failing to vote for a supportive Congress is the same as voting for one that will exert every effort to thwart America's return to its proper place among nations. Vote as if your life and the lives of your children depend on it, because that's the truth.

Prefect description “avatar”. I voted for Carter, but gave myself a mulligan bc Ford wasn’t much better & then redeemed myself w/ Reagan.

Sam Prentice's avatar

I am longing for the time when most Americans realize that the Democratic Party and its clapping seals in the legacy media will never be on our side and strive for the same objectives as us. They hate us and they hate America as it was constituted, and they are never, ever, going to stop trying to block everything we do and bring about the entire collapse of our system if they are capable. Short of civil war, I'm not sure what can be done, but as a start we need to declare their party a hate group of insurrectionists and ban the party. We can't go on with these vermin biting non-stop at our heels. Just look at their conduct during this military action and how they are openly cheering for us to fail. They are rooting for Iran to defeat OUR military. They are traitors and need to be treated as such, and they need to pay very high prices for their blatant treachery.

I'm still waiting for the second and third acts of this play. I know it' been written but not released. Kinda like a TV series. Gotta wait a week to see the next Tracker episode. One thing I know for sure. Trump ain't moving all that military hardware and talent to lay around and get a tan. Something big is brewing.

Jeremy R's avatar

Iran has the unique opportunity to become the new NTC and deprive Gruesome Newsom of the federal income derived from Ft Irwin.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

Not sure what NTC stands for, but your comment sparked the thought--what if we were to make some portion of Iranian territory (including Kharg Island) a new US military base? It would be a sensible reallocation of part of the men and materials from our European bases. Maybe rather than just "take" permanent control of it, we could write ourselves a 100 year lease on it, and include that in the final war-ending arrangement.

In fact, it would be awesome! I guess this is wild speculation, but I wonder if that's the "something big is brewing" that Jake mentioned above.

TeaPartyGal's avatar

I did notice the day before (or the day of?) the ceasefire, a squib of news that we (the US) hit 50 military targets on Kharg Island. I didn't think Kharg was big enough to HAVE 50 targets, but did wonder if that was extra thorough preparation to make sure our boys could take control of it without casualties when the time comes.

tj's avatar

It wouldnt surprise me. That news disappeared quick for the most part. If I remember right, that mostly oil facilities and surrounded by armaments. Or was.

Don Reed's avatar

04/10/26: Wiped out the Red Sea Turtles (Yemani Boy Band), who had flown down there on vacation. Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to see if the person comparing 02/28/26 to the Suez Canal fiasco in 1956 has been sent to Bellview Hospital by now.

Jeremy R's avatar

Sorry, the NTC is the National Training Center at Ft Irwin California where units go to receive training on desert combat. It's located in the Mohave Desert Near Barstow. The USMC has their 29 Palms station close by.

FWD's avatar

Great, then we can collect those million-dollar tolls! ;-D

Europeans are very smug when they brag about how much better their social services are than ours. When in reality, for the past 80 years, the US taxpayer, through our defense budget has been subsidizing European social benefits over our own. Those days are over.

Playswithneedles's avatar

In 1981-82, I was living in Brussels, where I learned that European social programs, way back then, provided a month of paid vacation for the unemployed. So, if you’re on welfare sitting on your arse at home, you get 13 months of benefits every year. It’s a wonder that anyone actually bothered to have a job.

Jeremy R's avatar

How do you take a month off from doing nothing?

My neighbor asked " whatcha doing today Jeremy?"

I replied, " nothing."

" You did that yesterday."

" Didn't finish."

BJ54's avatar

How can anyone tell? It's like congressional apparatchiks saying they want to finish the when they have never finished anything in my lifetime.

Jeremy R's avatar

Is it Congress in action or Congress inaction?

BJ54's avatar

Even when they're in action they seem pretty inactive in any helpful way. So I'd have to go with both, big time.

Sam Prentice's avatar

"I'm taking care of business...I love to work at nothing at all!"

tj's avatar

That is after the fact, at least the French, work 4 day weeks and were trying to get it reduced in the late '90s. They got 2 hrs for lunch when they werent taking more.

Retirednottired's avatar

2 HOURS?! For 15 years I worked a supervisory job where - if I was VERY lucky - I would get 20 minutes to wolf down lunch, and live with indigestion the rest of the day.

Jeremy R's avatar

I worked in a factory for several years that made hose. The guys who ran the rubber extruders had to keep their machines running the entire shift so their 20 minute lunch was a joke. The supervisors got an hour lunch which was usually interrupted about every five minutes.

Seem bad? Consider what it's like for our military in combat, that makes me appreciate anything I endured as a civilian.

tj's avatar

I hear ya. I come from a long history as a military family and Dad and I both went Navy. The Navy did teach me to get along with everyone including clueless and demented Officer Dept heads. You dont have the luxury of quitting. It served me well when I got out.

Jeremy R's avatar

Navy at Sea has it bad too. Thanks for your service.

tj's avatar

Yeah, I know. Like you, I usually got 20 min.

I still wouldn’t trust Iran. Destruction of Israel is a religious end game for them and you just KNOW they won’t hold to any agreement. I’m guessing before the two weeks is up all the human shields will go home and make way for the next phase. I guess we’ll see.

Jake's avatar

If and when we take the strait it won't matter much. Their economy is trash. Without oil revenue they can't pay their troops. That's when the real fun starts for the Mullahs.

Doggie Dad's avatar

It looks like it was designed with nostalgia for Soviet prisons built in the 1950s, and is destined to collapse under its own weight. A perfect metaphor.

We should crown you (not "coronate - I hate that made-up word) King of Grok. Great cartoon.

BTW, I'm reading Code Red, the current Failing New York Times bestseller about LLMs - large language models - like Grok, ChatGPT, Claude, and the biggest threat, China's DeepSeek. It turns out that, like people, the LLMs Are What They Eat - and all of them, including Elon Musk's Grok - regularly spew out leftie answers to queries, having read a lot of Wikipedia and other lefty publications. I hope they can fix that on Grok. I've instructed it to never return any result that includes data from Wikipedia. That helps a lot to center its responses.

Playswithneedles's avatar

I guess that I’m finally going to have to try those LLMs. I was telling my millennial daughter yesterday that trying to understand my lab results on my patient portal was like trying to decipher a foreign language. In about a nano second she replied, “Ask ChatGPT”. Oh, crap.
